    @Matt Dawson So you’re thinking Q4 2023 - Q1 2024? I wonder if they’ll release the four chosen ideas one-by-one or all together? I think TLG might actually release them in pairs— one under $200 usd and the other one over $200 usd.

    Not exactly… GWP polybag perhaps…? I feel like they’ve put it into the final review pool, just to reject it 3-6 months from now on the basis of it being “overly complex”

    You might be able to get away with using vinyl tape vs painting them outright? Also, its great to see more people building at G scale/ Gauge 1!

    What motor does the new tram use…? I thought the “simple” M-motor was retired, but apparently it (or the reincarnation?) is present in that new Lighthouse set…?

    @Murdoch17 Thanks for sharing that! And, here's a small update: HWE Coach Variants by Nick Jackson, on Flickr I honestly don't know which color scheme I would choose out of these three. Just like the engine, there are a few SNOT parts that either do not exist yet or are hard to come by. Already, I can see a few workarounds. For the white&blue carriage doors, I think I might stick with the 'train door' piece and just place some white vinyl over the upper half. However, for the tan&brown the doors would have to be brick-built. For my MOD version, I think I'll make the interiors optional so as to save some weight (and money). My final thought concerning set 76405 is that it's missing Weasley's Flying Ford! The scene where they almost get mowed down by the HWE as it crosses that viaduct is quite memorable-- definitely more memorable than some of the 'moments' depicted in this set. I think the most recent version of the Anglia is actually in scale with the train? I might take some time to look into this once I get done with my MOD of 76405...?

    @Murdoch17 I might attempt that once the instructions & parts' list becomes available. Should we start a separate thread to see which liveries would be cheaper to build via BL and bricks&pieces? It would be mildly hilarious to me if rebuilding this set in dark red with 2~3 extra coaches comes out to around the same price point...

    @Hermes Mocs Thanks for correcting my count! The tender is so inconsequential (and fairly hollow according to some other pics) that I completely forgot it existed. If theres 18 L drivers total in the set, then that makes Scenario B less likely than Scenario C. But still, knowing that there’s at least 9 blind drivers in the set that TLG didnt even bother trying to integrate into the overall build is… aggravating.

    @Djmojo Thanks for pointing that gallery out! The wheelbase in general is frustrating to comprehend considering that its actually built in 4 studs wide but then pushed up to 5 studs wide via 1/2 bushing pieces… but, like why though?

    I’m curious about the wheel molds for both the standard L’s and these new xxL / xXxL wheels— does this mean for the L’s there is a newer variant mold that has either a) 2 flanged wheels or b) 1 blind + 1 flanged each? Scenario A would be nice and tidy considering this set (and future sets), but Scenario B means that there’s 12 blind wheels just hanging around… Scenario C is assuming the mold is still unchanged from 1B + 2F, and would thus equal 6 blind drivers (unless they are somehow incorporated elsewhere in the model?). If the new huge drivers follow any of the above scenarios, then we’d see either a) 0 blinds, b) 6 blinds, or c) 3 blinds. Personally I’m thinking scenario C because for the standard L drivers, it’d be cheaper to keep the existing mold vs create a new one (unless the former is defunkt). Then, for the new wheels might as well keep the same strategy so no extra legwork has to be done later on. For my final theory, what if TLG reuses this giant steam wheel mold to do an upscaled rendition of 7750…? If you do the math, the Galaxy Explorer was upscaled by a factor of 1.5 times— and the roughly 4s diameter of a standard L driver upscaled by 1.5 would equal roughly 6s diameter…! The only drawback being the set would also be rendered in the 10 wide scale that the HP set uses, although still articulated (like the original) in order to navigate r40 curves…?

    @Toastie the main rod & side rod are connected using the new 3L frictionless pin: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=77765&name=Technic, Pin 3L without Friction Ridges with Stop&category=[Technic, Pin]#T=C&C=86 Its hard to tell from the photos’ angle, but its just a #1 connector overlapping the #2 for the conn rod.

    I’m thinking you may be right (or close enough) about the wheel size: Didnt notice it before, but I love how they reused the printed curved tile from the previous set…
