@R0Sch what makes you so sure? I imagine Flamin Orange is cheaper to produce in the long run…

@ToledoRails well now I definitely want to modify mine to better resemble a P8 even if that wasn’t the actual inspiration source. Thanks!

@dr_spock What's a good introductory printer? My CAD abilities are rusty tbh...
-
Thanks @Glenn Holland y @ToledoRails for that video! . There is a way that would make this set redeemable in my mind— What if both of the coaches have alternate builds a la the classic Super Chief coaches? That would instantly double the value of this set and make for an easy justification to buy a 2nd set! Then, with 2x worth of engine& tender parts you could make just about any wheel arrangement you like that suits your needs/ region…

“Everything's not awesome Everything's not cool I am so depressed” . But on the other hand, yeah I’ll prob still buy itttttt thoo0 #dopaminerush . @LordsofMedieval is right imho; TLG *could* have done better despite the design constraints in regards to the engine. How does the tender (which has always been either an omission or an afterthought) look better than the engine? . @Lyichir is also right that this forum is not the space to have über heated arguments over TLG’s decisions that hurt all of us mentally & financially.
-
@Pelzer117 No, TLG saw @LEGOTrainBuilderSG ‘s version and decided to scrap their version. No news yet as to what happens next though…
-
@FGMatt I think thats a custom piece

What if we got a full rake… but in midi scale like set 40518…?

Whew this looks amazing! I really hope FxBricks can stick the landing! -
For @zephyr1934
-
I’m hoping the top half of the engine comes to us as a 1-piece mold to ensure that TLG gets the details right!
-
@hsousa maybe it has +2 minifigs compared to 10277? Maybe new parts’ molds are also inflating the price?

I wonder if there is a limit to how many one can preorder? No word on the prices yet though…? -
I love how the engine and coaches have lil bits of dk red in there… like is this TLGs way of saying “we could, but won’t” ? Maybe with the 40th anniversary version we’ll see a dark red set…?

That illumination is really cool!

Would be nice to get a motorized Hogwarts Express set this time? The last version was too large and then the one before that was a little small. I’d throw down $350 for a set with Hogsmeade Village if it was similar in scope with the Disney Train…
-
@emm I've been interested in setting up sound systems for my trains too! Will you post here about your experience with those Hornby ones?

@jmorrin32MICHLUGmember Thats a good yet tricky question. I can already imagine that there are many potential variations on the switches’ ballast: -switch throw inside (the turn) or outside? -Point motors or hand of god? -overhand or underslung point motor? @michaelgale How close are the P40 switches’ footprints in comparison to BrickTracks’ or Trixbrix’s switches? I am also interested in ballasting them once they become available. -
@sixf00t4 The best way is probably a swing gate. The next best option would be an elevation change that would allow you to duck under (versus crawl). Save Your Knees!

So BrickLink has started another, more streamlined, attempt at an AFOL designer program through Stud.io... Is anyone interested in this? The submission entry timeframe is fairly narrow imho... There are also (comically) only 4~5 trains' specific parts available for use in the approved "palette" ... But thinking positively, this might be a chance to get more trackside structures (roundhouse, grain elevator, viaduct, etc) into the pipeline? Maybe a freight car 4-pack add-on? Passenger car 2-pack supplement? Your thoughts? Did you get that massive Studgate train station set via Bricklink? If so, how is it?

@Craig Strader At 1:35, isnt the Lego track on the narrow side?
