  1. Hey everyone, just thought I'd share my little experiment with vinyl tape. Do you like blue too? color test by M_slug357, on Flickr These were adhered to white cylinder elements. I definitely like the darker one, especially because it's reallllllllllly close to regular Lego blue. Which one do you like? How do you feels about vinyl tape?
  2. Thanks Duq for the help with the bbcode, I never knew that was there! Here's a screen grab from LDD: 7760 cab by M_slug357, on Flickr I'm wondering if anyone has a way to make the windows wider, but not too much taller?
  3. Fred67, You've forgotten who has the actual money though! The kids that make up the target demographic typically don't have their own income. So, If TLG were truly smart, they should try to hook the parents & the kids with the same set. If the adults are just as excited as the kids to build, and/or supervise the build, the adults will be more likely to buy x y z sets for said kids. I whole-heartedly agree with you that, for the more serious "train-heads", they will have to go to the various third parties to acquire train specific parts that are difficult/tedious to procure. The real mission that train enthusiasts need to undertake is to convince TLG that it's beneficial to spend resources on new/more train related items.
  4. Wow, read this thread and thought I'd share this nifty website: http://www.carendt.com/ Hope you find it interesting too!
  5. Hey everyone! I've finally decided to start my own thread, rather than piggy-back someone else's. Frankly, I need help with this: https://www.flickr.c...157643245649484 I'm trying my hand at remaking the classic 7760, with full PF components (lights too!) for a while now, but have hit a wall. The problem lies with the cab windows, and my current solution looks terrible in real bricks... So, I threw together an LDD moc up of what I currently have, and earnestly hope that you can provide me with something insightful! http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=554681 Thanks in advance, ~M_slug357~
  6. Nice to see it in the brick though, keep it up!
  7. True; What about a mix and match? Say, have the front truck use BBB wheels, and then have the rear truck use the 9v wheels, but cover them on the sides? Pic of what I try to say:
  8. For the least amount of friction, maybe you can use 9v wheelsets minus the housing? I'm pretty sure you can fit the metal axle through a technic pin?
  9. If you have drive rods from zephyr, there's nothing wrong with coloring them a bit; Might look nice if the middle of the rods are colored black with the edges kept grey?
  10. I think LEGO City needs a line of factory/industrial type buildings!! Where do the non-coffee/doctor/pizza/cosmonaut/store/fire/construction/police minifigs work @? I think this may be why there are so many criminals afoot in LEGO City... They must all be ex-technicians/students/laborers/engineers/teachers, and yet the City's economy is stable enough to send figs into the deep seas or deep space... But really though, where do all the automobiles come from? There's quite a few repair shops, but no factory... It'd be nice to see factories for: -cars -furniture -hats -pizza -tools -bricks -heroes (((((sorry, midnight ramblings)))))
  11. I think this is a clear indicator that us AFOL's really need to rally behind some of the more well thought out train designs on Lego IDEAS, because TLG is desperately trying to tell us that they, in fact, have no ideas with which to capitalize upon. Or at the very least, they are sitting sadly on some good ones that they mightn't fully know the value of...
  12. While I was not overtly excited for *another* CITY train, I was hoping that the Heavy Haul Train would actually be hauling some heavy stuff....... Here's to the hope that the next Creator train, will in fact, knock our collective socks off.
  13. Hoping/praying that LEGO world will reveal anything new for us rail fans......? @_@
  14. Not sure about putting the tot(s)? on the table, but otherwise that layout is, in fact, noteworthy indeed! Brick on sir!
  15. I need 2-4 of those plz...?
  16. @Selander you should make some crash-test videos!
  17. Nice father-and-son time there! What color(s) are you making your EN in though? Since you're building it from parts already on hand...
  18. Largely depends on your track and layout plan(s); If you already have 9V (metal) track, then you'll need 9V motors& the like from bricklink. If you stay with PF (plastic) track, then you'll want to have 2 PF train motors on your engine in order to maximize it's prowess. Layout wise, if your track plan consists of lots of turns and s-curves, stick to shorter trains, say engine with 5-6 wagons max. If your layout has more/long straightaways (8 straights minimum), you can enjoy longer consists of around 8-10 wagons. Also, make sure each wagon you do make doesn't outweigh your engine...
  19. Aren't there a lot of those rounded 1x1's out there? Either gold or silver? Might be interesting if you placed them on the sides in the black stripe, Every 4-6 studs maybe?
  20. Could you add some reference materials? Maybe a link to the tram(s) you're trying to brick?
  21. It could use a gold stripe that maybe starts on the cab and continues down the coaches? Although, silver may be more appropriate- isn't the Lone Ranger movie about silver mines? (Never saw it) Just my two cents' worth
  22. I agree on the CC's pricing; If TLG could lower it by at least 20€, I'd buy it. I'm currently waiting to throw all of my monies at the 60098 set....
  23. Glad to know I'm not alone! I thought it was either batteries or signal interference from the neighbors' new drone copter... But they crashed that yesterday and my trains are still malfunctioning. While replacement seems easiest, I'm to curious to not know the cause! 'specially if it happens again with newer gear :/
  24. This tram would only amaze me if it had PF installed so well that you wouldn't notice. PF 'S' motor's debut, anyone? That would be a life-changing reveal........! Dear Nuremberg, please answer our collective prayers
  25. Hi all, I'm usually not the aggressive type, BUT Can we prease get back to wishful speculations of a few pages ago?? Back to the "What Could It Be!?" discussion versus "When can I's gets me one a dem?" For example: If you knew that the next train set was going to have a smaller engine, (not narrow gauge tho) What little loco would you like, and with what consist/rake? I personally would like a Class 08 shunter with various 2 axle freight cars, and maybe a guards' van...
