  3. This is the newest LEGO inside tour set: the LEGOLand Billund small gauge train. Interesting articles on the train: Brickset 1000steine (in German) NewElementary Flickr images Looks very nice in my opinion, we see that they are still making tracks like the mining series (based on the old 12V tracks, without the notches). I think they did a great job, too bad that it will be very hard to get for most of us train fans!

  10. no need to say sorry, SNOT is an AFOL 'standard' of course if you look at it from an engineering perspective.
  11. we use an Arduino (custom board) at my school to control trains. It has a dedicated motor driver chip, support for front/tail lights and an XBee header. Atmega328 µC. Fits >within< 4 x 8 studs. it is about 1 stud high, so fits into a lot of trains. Power: 3.3V (of course the motor might need more volts. Much better control than LEGO PF (8 bits instead of 3).

  16. well, that is why people like us reproduce stickers, then you can use affordable stickers and keep / replace the originals
  17. there is an issue with latency, but... I have used latches to solve that problem, next railbricks will be a bit basic, but... the issue after I hope to discuss that as well. Bluetooth is also a good idea especially Bluetooth Smart, I have quite some experience with that for an other project.

  19. The LiPo from LEGO is just too great to ignore. It is so solid and well protected! we use it at school and believe me students have been harsh on them. you could use a protected power pack like these though: http://www.dx.com/s/18650+3.7 you will need separate chargers for them, but they are well protected agains shorting etc., only they are quite large (larger than AA.
