  1. 6330 is from the ugly area. MOC would mean you build your own version inspired on the 6330, that would work I guess!
  2. Ashi you are generalising too much! It just depends on the particular kid and also (at least a little) on how it was brought up.
  3. Well not to boast, but I was 2,5 years old when I got the 7710 including some extra cars. It just depends on the particular kid. I have quite a few nephews and nieces. Some are 5 and still don't get it, others were 3 when they already made the connection between the PF remote and the train reaction. Also when kids don't stick stuff in their mouth you can be pretty sure that they can handle LEGO. I work at a nursing school (among other things) and recently attended a CPR training for kids where I learned that a soft candy (e.g. marshmallow) is often more dangerous than a hard object for kids to swallow / choke on. @v6TransAM: so he will probably become an engineer haha (that's where I ended up anyway, you might wonder what engineers do at nursings schools now haha ;)).
  4. Welcome Marco! Enjoy your stay at EB!
  5. We do, but not too often, way to busy with other projects (building / but also non-LEGO).
  6. Sorry about that, I was talking about your wireframe issue. Updating using the nvidia drivers did the job.
  7. Ah I see... I can do that for you but still need to have the original (so I can scan them then ;)). I always make vectors from then unless I just can't (happens almost never)... that makes it very easy to scale an image without losing resolution.
  8. We don't have any confirmations yet so it is still all speculation of course :)
  9. Since there is a new topic now: LEGO Trains 2016 I have closed this one.
  10. For my 640M (iMac 2012) it fixed the issue. Using Windows 7.1.
  11. http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=me00rjb&itemID=13104119 they are not that expensive!
  12. Great yard Ivan! Nice idea about those cables!
  13. Can you post an image of the problem?
  14. Agreed!!! Setting no boundaries does squash dreams. That is why I let certain nieces not play with our LEGO and give free access to some other cousins and nieces to virtually all our LEGO. If children never learned how to behave well and be careful they will often become reckless. Although we don't have kids ourselves we work both in Education (my wife in special education) and know from experience that is both is hard to set good appropriate boundaries, but on the other hand that it is vital for the performance of kids and adolescents to get boundaries or learn how to handle situations if there are no hard limits. I'm taking a young family friend on a tour for a few days, he has some challenges but enjoyed LEGOWorld Germany very well and is helping us prepare new builds for exhibits :) we found very useful parts today in "the Factory". Tomorrow AFOL shopping, for sure we will get some Architecture for him, he loves it.
  15. Indeed it does! Although that one is a little larger. @talos: your MOC deserves to be on the FP :)
  16. The LEGO version also works with an LM319 so I don't understand why they did not use a regular potmeter. The LM317 is very suitable I think (from the TI datasheet:): Output Voltage Range Adjustable From 1.25 V to 37 V (that doesn't mean the entire circuit can receive 37V) Output Current Greater Than 1.5 A (a bit low I think, since the train motor could draw 950 mA according to Philippe, so driving with two train motors could easily exceed the 1.5A) Internal Short-Circuit Current Limiting Thermal Overload Protection Output Safe-Area Compensation The datasheet also has some circuits that could have been much better: http://www.ti.com/li...mlink/lm317.pdf This is what the LEGO version looks like (more or less):
  17. "I know the voltage needs to be right, but I've always disliked how "steppy" the LEGO regulator was anyway." if you open the regulator you see why: they literally use steps! Also see the discussion here.
  18. (That would be "allowed", teacher in me jumps out now and then ;)). While we would not stimulate it, sometimes there is no other option. The original is than in non-English and if it is useful just make sure that you translate it at least so that everyone is able to follow it. Also try to limit it of course.
  19. Train Tech enthusiast talos came up with this stunning modular station. See the topic about this wonderful creation in Train Tech!
  20. I think a good option for your lights is a sticker on top of a transparent tile with only the lights shining-through. SMD-leds beneath it.
  21. Good to here that Hobbythom. Not a bad deal at all! Depends on what your plans are of course. You can go as far as your fantasy goes :)
  22. Here is a nice video: Also nice (the last bit), I like the idea to have a shovel at the back! And here even two:
  23. I understand, what I sometimes do if I post in Dutch is put the translation right under it. DGKu crane car train
  24. Hi Nemo thanks for posting the extra link and very detailed pictures, but be sure to always put the English translation here. Although with Google Translate we can get the idea, this is an English forum so please keep that in mind.
