  1. Really cool vitreolum. Al those details at such a small scale...
  2. Well than you nailed it :) It is a little hard to see how much space is needed and available, I already noticed you used panels of course. Are you going to build it or?
  3. Great idea jlassen, I only fear the Friends figures won't fit or would they?
  4. Holger (HoMa) shared his rendition of the Trans Europ Express (TEE). An iconic train and an icon LEGO build if you ask me. See also the other great pictures including his coach lighting solution in Train Tech.
  5. Great idea Mugbearer, thanks for sharing!
  6. The best strategy would be to open a digital version in Stud.io, recolor some parts and check it against bricklink I would say.
  7. Really nice Holger, I already spotted it at 1000steine :) I also like the inner lights, did you make those custom or use some small Christmas lights? Now if we only had more Dark Red it would become even more realistic. I guess we will need to wait a little longer for that.
  8. Well I would agree that they would find out eventually, but if they would need a list to figure out the answers (as one could potentially make e.g. 20 of such a questions) then it would at least slow them down. I don't know of course but considering the content of most of the spam they might not be very affluent in English. But on the other hand I totally agree that approving would be the best option.
  9. Maybe adding some puzzles for new members would help. E.g. what is the LEGO capitol of the world. I assume all those people from Pakistan and probably also a lot of Koreans that do not have any clue about LEGO, just about spamming wouldn't know the answer and all people joining an AFOL forum would. @Saberwing40k, there are so many spammers every day that surgery would be totally ineffective.
  10. You can say that again, that is why I mentioned the whole piece so nothing was lost in summarizing, I mean, they could become great politicians!
  11. Trains are very, very difficult. See the interview that Jim had with Mike Psiaki about it (link). An ideal train should fit in different categories so it won't just appeal to train FOLs. So linking it to e.g. Harry Potter or an other licensed team would help (but for Ideas that is another problem) A tram is already a less steep hurdle but still more doable I would say. We had the 'universal' creator train of course but that one also had it's challenges. See this tram: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/b0b4ae39-1c8c-4f31-ad9b-af7df3cabf6a It was wonderful, a great idea and made it to 10k. But it was rejected by TLG: "First and foremost, congratulations to kevinszeto for reaching 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas, and toward everyone for all of the support of the Vintage Tram project! The results of the LEGO Review are in and you can see full details on the LEGO Ideas Blog. Review Results for Vintage Tram Our team has thoroughly considered the possibility of releasing this project as a LEGO set according to the criteria of the LEGO Review. Unfortunately the LEGO Review Board has decided that we will not produce this project as a set. Thank you to kevinszeto for the passion and creativity that went into this project, and to all of you who voted so that we would have the opportunity to consider this as a potential LEGO set. We’re sorry to deliver this disappointing news. How do we arrive at our decisions? By gaining 10,000 supporters, a fan-submitted project moves from the Idea Stage to the Review Stage, where it earns the opportunity to be considered as a future LEGO® set in a process called the “LEGO Review.” Gaining 10,000 Supporters is just the first step in this process. A "LEGO Review Board" composed of professional set designers, product managers, marketing representatives, and other key team members examine each qualified project. They build concept models and determine if the concept meets our high standards for what it takes to be a LEGO product; including factors such as playability, safety, and fit with the LEGO brand. Every potential LEGO product, including those developed internally, goes through a similar process and must meet the same standards. The amount of time this takes varies due to all the factors involved. Unfortunately, this process sometimes means that well-conceived projects that gain just-as-passionate followings have to be turned down. Please note that the LEGO Review Board makes all final decisions on which new sets the LEGO Group will release based on LEGO Ideas projects."
  12. It takes a lot to offend a teacher haha but I wanted to elaborate more on it :) I also think it has older firmware, seems to be unlikely that it detects white and blue correctly and ignores the other colors.
  13. @Laura Takayama: a train station with a bus and tram? I don't think so, that was a city set (not really train related although you could consider a tram somewhat train related of course). Apart from that they released the Winter Station with bus last year, and 60050 was released for the previous generation of trains of course.
  14. But the problem is that both are exactly the same so it must be firmware. I didn't say the firmware is corrupt (I am a teacher in embedded software so I know how such a things work), but it seems the colors are just not being recognized, so it might be some older firmware or something. I called LEGO (was during the day but they had an answering machine saying they weren't available...). It is a little large so I just linked it: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/JopieK/PUP/img_0580.png Here are the videos: Reaction is the same when I use the app. Very strange...
  15. Maybe the Head is LEGO, I can't see it wel from this position but the rest is definitely a clone.
  16. It is not that difficult I would say. I have built it in a MOC / MOD and that worked well and wasn't difficult. You could make a fake receiver of course. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/JopieK/LXFFiles/dummy_ir.lxf
  17. I ran into a problem with one of the Duplo train hubs. I borrowed one from an educational set, from the outside (HUB 5) it is identical to the one from the Duplo steam train though. The one from the steam train set recognizes all colors, the borrowed one only recognizes blue (water) and white (light) but ignores reverse (green), stop (red) and whistle (yellow). I replace the batteries to be sure but same behavior. It seems to be faulty, I also can't update it through the Duplo app or something.
  18. It even seems to be that either the Koreans have a local settlement in Pakistan or they delegate spam to regions like Pakistan. Fortunately banning a member will delete all their messages at once otherwise fighting the spam would become a day job ;)
  19. It isn't bad at all, but spamming about your LEGO Ideas in different fora is :) So have a nice stay but remember to not use EB.com as just a billboard.
  20. Well our German friends are also busy building turntables: https://www.1000steine.de/de/gemeinschaft/forum/?entry=1&id=404311&lastid=1#lastid
  21. Welcome to Eurobricks Dean!
  22. I would add those 1x4 gear racks in case of a transfer table so a motor could make the bridge move. LEGOLAND Günzburg had those gear racks in stock two weeks ago but that is a bit far from Missouri of course, so probably Bricklink will help.
  23. The first mining ever was the little girl in the homemaker set wasn't it? Must have been 297, that one was released in 1978 (JopieK - 1). Apparently many more sets were released in 1978 that had minifigs in them though including the two illusive train cars that featured one with a yellow hard hat (until the toy story dump truck a few years ago LEGO did not release any more sets with a yellow hard hat so the prices became ridiculous (the hat was more expensive than the entire set in the end).
  24. There is also the issue that you could lick the conductors. I never did but I can imagine some kids would :) You could also be right @Laura Takayama, those transformers were much more complex than the 9V adapters of course.
  25. I just found mine also yesterday while looking for some engine parts :) Are you planning on mechanizing it?
