  1. Happy new year! That the trains may have a smooth ride in 2014 (hopefully with new trains coming soon :))
  2. nice work! strange candy though ;) your minifigs seem to be canibals?!
  3. Welcome back to LEGO :) much lighter now isn't it ;) (as you might know, Adult Fans Of LEGO call those years 'dark ages')
  4. nice job!!! lot of details in such a small vignette
  5. Very nice! Typical Dutch old building!
  6. indeed, i-devices don't have IR (well, apart from the remotes, but that is a different thing).
  7. I fixed the images, but indeed, the topic is quite old already.
  8. Hi Thomas, enjoy your stay at EB!
  9. @ronenson, I'll ask my students after the christmas holidays. @aurly: well, I totally agree as a tech teacher, but... LEGO has to live with international policies about such a things, apart from that LEGO not always seems to think what we think , on the other hand, they have involved AFOL's in the PF development process.
  10. Controlling devices with Bluetooth has also disadvantages. The parts are much more expensive, pairing etc makes it less intuitive for children. Also battery usage is a concern. It would be good to have a child and compatible pro system though. I do the bridging between PF and Bluetooth / Xbee myself but that is not for most non technical people.
  11. well, you could even use apps that let you learn IR signals (my students demonstrated that to me): a universal IR app, usable for e.g. a beamer/tv but also PF (as long as it is about 940 nm IR).
  12. Great job! nice work!!!
  13. Great review WhiteFang!!! Especially this one because it is a home building of course ;)
  14. The LiPo is the best option, it is expensive, but very, very durable, believe me, my (high school) students have literally tortured it. @Paperballpark, I use XBee for my LEGO trains (together with IR) and that makes the system just great), only thing is that I have some latency now and then, but that might just be the Java code on my computer (did not test it yet).
  15. some sellers are slower of course...
  16. Well, VAT (douane, inklaringsrechten en b.t.w.) depends on how picky the post office (customs) is, but 18$ + 5$ should be no problem at all! Last week I got something from the US that was shipped only three days before that so it can be very quick especially if it is an enveloppe.
  17. @ReflectioN: that is very true!!!
  18. I order directly from Ben, that works very well...
  19. yups that would be possible I think!
  20. But that was with trans-black glass so there is a difference :)
  21. very nice job!! now the real build ;)
  22. very nice part in that color indeed!
  23. of course a charge section is very possible. the bridge is short for bridge rectifier, so it indeed rectifies the polarity so that you always have the correct polarity but could even use alternating current instead of direct current (but will need capacitors to flatten the output current then). you could of course make a solution with RC, 9V, RC, 9V but that will cost you a lot of cables and probably your batteries will wear out very fast so, maybe not such a good idea.
  24. very nice, now I would like a glass of Glühwein bitte ;)
  25. Very nice and reasonable pricing!
