  1. it is of course very wise of LEGO to consider alternatives! better quality and better resources are an important consideration for a renown company like TLG.
  2. brickshelf.com seems to be down, you can always check such a things: http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com
  3. maybe even a good solution for real cars! I would file for a patent if I was him :)
  4. Enjoy! Sparkfun Rules ;)
  5. Cheaper in the Netherlands?! No way, in Germany it is a lot cheaper. 2% VAT, but also sets are a lot cheaper. I get most LEGO from Germany and live 120km from the border (that is considerable for European standards ;)) So I don't know how you come to that conclusion. Even the LEGO store already: German price for the Maersk ship 129,99€, Dutch store price 139,99 (and that is the case with almost any set).
  6. Very nice barduck!!!
  7. Welcome at EB Juliet! The FIRST LEGO League always is a very nice LEGO event, I have been a referee for 5+ years now in my region. The drill is also amazing! Interesting that the word 'boring' is also used in the context of drilling. I only don't get the drill together with 'nature's fury', the FLL challenge of 2013-2014.
  8. can you elaborate on the "added electrical equipment" captain america?!
  9. de-stressing with LEGO is always a very good idea!!!
  10. Indeed, they work like springs, but are less rigid. In the last month issue of a Dutch model train magazine (RailHobby), there was an article about it.
  11. very nice! I especially like the rounded wheel hubs. Nice color wheels, BBB must be proud ;) @jtlan, it is normal green.
  12. always very well in Germany indeed, in Holland we don't have LEGO stores.

    Coffee van

    wow, that is colorful indeed!!!
  14. and TLG is still wondering why they don't sell more trains?! All kids like trains, my cousins and nieces are always totally mad about our trains when they come over / stay at us in vacation. The sets should be reasonably prices. A passenger train for about 100€, the cargo version should be 150€ max.
  15. even their website is bad... can't see the pictures! Their train lineup is impressive though, I like some of their trains, others are just ugly, but I think their new high speed passenger train is better than the new LEGO version. This is a direct clone of Maersk though: http://003.tsdn.net/...px?id=182&type= Having those wheel holders in all those colors and different buffer colors would be a dream for most LEGO Train fans though.
  16. Sehr schön ;) (or: very nice in German), you especially did a great job getting the curves in there! I like the front deflectors with the horns very much!
  17. Actually in this case I totally agree, apart from the Ferrari logo and the number plates there is no reason at all to use stickers is there?!!
  18. Great job on your F40! Looks really nice. In case you design your stickers in Illustrator or some other vector program and don't know where to print them, I can help you out with that (we have a vinyl printer / cutter).
  19. Welcome to EB :) why don't you also introduce yourself! You could make a sieve of course. If it doesn't need to be all LEGO, check out the coin acceptor of Sparkfun electronics.
  20. Indeed, I already commented on it in your other topic!
  21. You are underestimating the US :) I have lived there for half a year (internship), and it was a great time with great friends that I got to know there, but... if you only look at a bottle of bleach you can already see how mad 'safety' concerns have gone: 'use for x, y and z, all other use prohibited'. Check this link :)
  22. Very nice designs! Revising nine volt motors is also an option of course, there are good tutorials available for that at Eurobricks.
  23. very nice, but also... a very lot of work!
  24. I would opt for standard automation options like signals and controlled points (12V idea would be fine).
  25. it is indeed a hilarious film, we AFOL's can easily recognize ourselves, though Lord Business fortunately isn't a purist ;) modding LEGO with an exact knife and glueing ;) but we can easily debunk this stereotype: we don't have kids (yet) but let our cousins and nieces play with our LEGO, although I might not give them the most expensive sets of course (rare sets I mean).
