  1. lol cool It's not that complex, I like to keep stuff simple. I rough out the shape/proportions, then fill any gaps, then go back and rearrange/optimize areas. The only thing I would change now on this model is maybe do what I usually do with big trucks and use long technic beams as a base to attach the wheels and create a strong chassis at once. The only reason I didn't do that here is because I wanted the body to look as raised as possible, adding the technic beams to attach the wheels would lower the underside's silhouette by 1 or 2 plates. I'm pretty sure this is like 99% buildable, I didn't use any exotic parts.
  2. No problem, just give credit if you build it/submit it somewhere/etc. http://www.mediafire.com/?x5780ofhjdyd0go Broken down into major pieces:
  3. Anyone know if the 2x2 plate that holds magnets was moved to a different section?

  6. Fun thread lol. I've melted a few action figures by accident trying to remove paint, trial and error is great but only when it doesn't cost you $10 a figure! I wouldn't suggest using this melt-method to make custom pieces though, not if you want some nice sharp details anyway. You're better off using jeweler's wax to make the piece (easier to carve and shape than ABS, especially at this scale) then making copies of it with some simple silicon molds and alumilite/resin/whatever.
  7. ***Updated pictures ***Added .LXF file - http://www.mediafire...15pccqmlrfh27uw ***Updated .LXF file (changed non-existant pieces, replaced rear "storage boxes" with safes, strengthened some areas) Behold the second ever LEGO Ultra XT 6x6 built to date haha You've seen it in 6-wide, now let's see how it looks in the mighty 8-wide! Features: -Opening doors -Rolling wheels -Colors -Made of plastic lol -There's a hidden floor compartment to stash dirty underwear: -Just to add a play feature, I made the top hinged so it can easily be filled with "water". -Ideally I'd use a 2x2 manget plate with magnet for the rear dump valve, but I can't find the magnet plate in LDD. -There's a 10-stud long, 2-stud wide, 4-plate tall compartment running down the middle of the chassis, great for storing shovels, pulaskis, fishing rods, hot mermaids, etc. -Not exactly sure what's supposed to go in that empty section visible from the top -Could easily make it modular, it would just take some strategic placing of tiles on the chassis. Oh well, another crushed dream for the bucket. :(
  8. Got lost in the wave of contest things, but this cruiser rises to the surface!
  9. Spray painting is all about technique and making sure you do it in the right humidity/temp (check your can for specifics). If you spray an area for even half a second too long you may lose detail. I haven't tried Citadel's primers but I have used Tamiya's and they work great, they spray in a super fine mist. The finer your detail the finer the primer you want to use. Although for little things like LEGO I wouldn't bother with spray paint (ideally you'd use an airbrush). I would just get some fine sandpaper and sand the surface of the hair to make it more receptive of paint. It doesn't matter if it loses its shine, you're putting paint over it anyway. Then paint by hand with semi-watered down paint if it's your first time. Thin coats, nice and easy, etc. First paint it all with grey (doesn't have to be primer, but it helps), then paint your bley color on top. Use gloss or semi-gloss paint if you want to keep the shine, or just spray it with glossy sealer after.
  10. I'm hesistant to say so because of all the frikkin' scalpers in the Los Angeles, California area, but the Toys R Us in Van Nuys (Woodley/Sherman Way) had a full stock of Series 9 and some older series (which they usually have). They're hanging on pegs near the entrance with other blind-bagged figures. This TRU always has a relaxed atmosphere, no complaints ever, so head over to them and give em some love. :]
  11. I'm happy to see the Sci-Fi forum up and kickin', but I can't help but feel it was missing some more kickass cop cars. The inside is mostly hollow, ready for whatever interior the job requires. Armored hatch in back for quick loading/unloading of gear and perps. (The cops just tie up the criminals and toss them in the trunk because they're cool like that) Lots of places on the body to attach things like weapons, cameras, winch, etc. (remove the tiles to exposes the studs). More pics: Spotlight and dash cam:
  12. Nifty! Suddenly I don't want to spit after I say Bionicle anymore lol
  13. Haha, looks like a monster you'd fight in Borderlands
  14. Damn. This thing is bananas! That's right, I said it.
  15. I hope that lady has a screaming face printed on the back, I've never seen someone that happy to have their car towed lol
  16. Thanksssss folks! Yep, it definitely looks like an armored van, and I agree it's because of the narrow windows. Luckily I built this this thing to be moddable without too much trouble. The interior can easily be gutted by switching a few bricks from the walls to have a completely open space inside, then adjust to your liking. So, you can easily transform this into any kind of service vehicle you want. Could be a school bus, prisoner transport, etc. Here are pictures of the Sprinter, there's only so much I can do with LEGO: http://www.edmunds.com/dodge/sprinter/ I'll try making the windshield taller (it's two 4-wide pieces), though I think that's going to get rid of the roof's slope above the windshield. I'd rather just get rid of them and leave empty space there though. We'll see! Yep, 8-wide vehicles like this look a liiiiitle weird in the official 6-wide City scale, you'd have to scale up the buildings and roads accordingly to have everything mesh. It also helps to add a 1x1 plate under the minifigures' feet heh. I think a 6/7-wide front with an 8-wide cab works well for most City displays.
  17. I like open-back buildings because of the accessibility, but for making photocomics you need to have closed backs so it'll look good on camera. Of course, having no back (or side, or front, as the case may be) also makes taking some shots a lot easier. Everything has its pros and cons.
  18. That is one damn nice truck design I've really gotta get some of those wheels...
  19. Based on pictures of a sporty Dodge Sprinter Ambulance, though the wide nose makes it look like a "normal" van-ambulance. Eh, still good! Added as much detail as I could figure out from pictures, 8-wide is perfect for that :) I haven't added the sliding door because I'm not sure how to do that, any tips are welcome! -All doors can open -Fans/Vents (the grey circles with openings opposite them on the outer wall) -Oxygen port/power outlet (the green & red tile and grey circle on the inner wall) -Power Outlet near driver door (outer wall) -Board storage space behind passenger seat (I don't know what it's for but it fits!) -Oxygen tank storage in rear under the bench -Bunch of medicine/bandages/gloveboxes? on the wall -Chair/step storage? in rear on wall (fold down glass compartment) -Lights according to reference pics -Engine greeble under the sloped hood -ProCare colors (from reference pic, I'd rather use stickers though for a more efficient use of bricks) -Fits stretcher with patient -Fits a bunch of minifigures -Pistol-grip shifter for the driver because pistol grips are cool xD -Other stuff I forgot or don't know what it is lol
  20. Thanksss! It has some stability issues, but once the engineers work them out she'll get brick-built and I'll post instructions
  21. Thankssss! I like it but I think I'll rework the front a little before I order pieces for it.
  22. All hail the master tractor guy! I like the front ends most, but the over all designs on them are spiffy, they look rugged but stylish
  23. Another ship in the Galaxy Patrol fleet, this armed and armored Cargo Transport is perfect for ferrying vital supplies, or even high-value informants and witnesses. More angles Top and rear hinge open. Maybe I can change it so the whole top comes off instead, would make it easier to place items inside.
  24. But how else will you get a hot purple space helmet with snazzy yellow pinstriping!
