TRU price matches now, so just take an ad from some other store and they'll give you that price instead. I'd rather just go to the other store but TRU may be more convenient for some. But yeah, the mark-up is crazy, the big $80 set was like $110, WTF man? Anyway, I think I'll pass on paying that much just to get new colored helmets, the sets are nice enough though. The body parts are easy enough to get for cheap and painting helmets is easy. Or you guys can just buy a bunch of the white CMF Space Guy and use powder dye, just dump a little acetone in there to help the dye take.

I like that Blue Car, it screams "I'm a toy!" lol The Red one is cool but maybe the top of the "wings" (the long white tiles) are too blocky? Here's something based on random pictures I saw, I like it so far but not sure what I want to do with the cockpit area heh

Called the "The Flea" because it's not very big but it's super tough and super annoying lol I imagine they use these to fly into larger ships to destroy specific targets, like the fuel cells, hangars, etc. Also, sorry for the corny topic title :P -Fits minifigure -2 additional directional thrusters in rear for even sharper maneuvers -Adjustable fins -Adjustable guns -Fully sealed cockpit -Snazzy orange dome for extra pizzazz Bunch of angles

Just had a look at that IceSatV again, what was I thinking!? Anyway, here's a random cannon that could go on a larger ship
-
I like the shuttles though I think they look a little too much like Hearses for comfort haha
-
Looks like an air conditioning unit I'd add some random tiles on the hull to look like "panels" just to break up the boxy shape, maybe a few trans pieces for "lights".

Heh, yeah, the goal is to keep the items cheap (less than 80 cents maybe) so people will blow their spare change on them. Things like exclusive head prints or fancy capes would work, why bother with CMFs when you can just go feel up the bags and get exactly what you want. :)

What do y'alls think about a LEGO Gachapon machine? (A gachapon machine is one of those machines that take coins and a random goodie in a capsule pops out.) Minifigures (disassembled) would work, the capsules would have to be slightly larger though, to accommodate some of the special pieces like Mermaid tails. I'm thinking more along the lines of minifig accessories though since we already have the CMF series. Pop in a quarter and you get a random helmet, or kitty, or air tanks, or coins, etc. Maybe 2 or 3 accessories per capsule? The main problem I see is that the treats might be too expensive as LEGO tends to be. I doubt people want to pop in anything over 50 cents just to get a random hat when Bricklink offers a sure bet for a similar price. Of course, you have to pay shipping too so the gachapon may be cheaper way to accumulate goodies. So, to get around that, the gachapon machines can have exclusive colors and minifig parts! Orange spiky anime hair, pants with special printing, trans-purple trident, female Space Police 3 officer torso, alien heads, things like that. Put one of these machines in a LEGO Shop and I'm sure there will be lots of trading going on, not to mention lots of selling since kids/parents will probably dump all their change into the machines haha Is this a good/bad idea?

Got kinda carried away with this one haha... This is the "Ice Sat V - Part 1", it's the command section of the 2-part vehicle. The rear will be attached via magnets and some cables. The second part carries the actual missile along with spare parts, storage space, and other miscellaneous goodies. It's big and brutish and the nose could probably use a redesign, but I like it in its own ugly way. :) Fake magnet on bumper Bricks inside can be rearranged however you like. Add more clips/studs to the walls for equipment, smooth them completely for more storage space, or turn it into a portable lab. I got too fancy with the rear hatch haha, but it serves as a ramp when unfolded.

What if... There was a LEGO Racer 3?...

Oh hell yes, best theme ever! I don't like Racers all that much, but this goes to show how awesome any theme can be with some passion behind it. (the cars better be 8 wide or I'm throwing a fit ) -
Seems I have a tendency to build large lol. Here's a medium/large set based on 6879. Here's the original zippy little model, it's not bad, but could definitely use a remake. At least put some seatbelts in the thing! And now the new beast it evolved into. Aside from the Deep Freeze Defender, Ice Planet cosmonauts have only one other bird in the sky, the Blizzard Baron. It's a multi-tasking workshorse used for communications, information sharing, orbital experimentation, transporting cargo quickly, satellite repairs, and testing rocket drives. This mid-sized ship has enough space to hold a small 2 or 3-person team and their equipment. Rear hatch and canopy can open, it's pretty roomy in there, there's even shelf space because of the hollow curves lol. I was going to build an arm to deploy the satellite as a separate piece, but I don't feel like struggling with LDD. There are Technic bricks on the inner walls, with some pins the walls can hold lots of gear, or you can anchor different arms to them, or computer screens, whatever the need may be. That's my version of the modular feature. :) I would have liked some kind of double doors for the hatch, but again, too much of a hassle. The wings have internal heaters to keep them from freezing over. I changed the black engine bell to the original, looks cooler I think. The insides could probably use some optimization, but whatever, looks cool. The whole thing uses less than 200 bricks. :) Anyway, enjoy!

Yeah baby! Nothing better than a big honkin' Space Tank And yar, the old grey looks better here.

It's just a laser burst effect, I'd remove it and cover the hole with something when it's in "Off" mode lol Maybe something simple like this

Thanks folks! Here's another upgrade, this time of the Ice Tunnelator :) The Ice Tunnelator was a service vehicle haphazardly thrown together by Ice Planet explorers who were too lazy to clear the driveways of snow with a shovel. The silly scrap vehicle was given an equally silly name and become a favorite joyriding vehicle among the crew (if you can consider riding a lawnmower as joyriding). Every camp had a unique Tunnelator and was treated like a lovable pet. (Hey, it sure beats petting Ice Spiders!) One day, some hotshot young engineer with one too many lunch breaks began building his own Ice Tunnelator to be the envy of all the others. He built it well enough that his design was used by Command to build a new line of official Ice Tunnelators. All charges of theft and improper use of company property against him were dropped in exchange. This model evolved into some kind of ATV, the old inefficient chainsaw was replaced with a laser system that can quickly melt or cut ice into neat chunks. A vacuum under the laser helps keep the path clear by sucking in accumulating water and slush and expelling it out the rear. I wanted to use the treads like in some of the Arctic sets instead of wheels, but I don't know how to use them in LDD without getting a massive headache. Oh well! And here's a shot with the old wheels:
-
Boredom has led me to updating old sets with newer elements. (My gaming laptop has been dead for a while ) First up is the Snow Scooter. Oh my, yes, it's quite the unimpressive pile of rubble. So uninspiring and forgettable no one even bothered taking a clear picture of the box so all we get are blurry shots of the manual as proof that this was once on store shelves. Anyway, for the upgrade the only thing I kept in mind was that I wanted to use as many of the original pieces as possible. The result is a slightly larger jet-ski-mobile that skims along the snowy landscapes of Krysto. The new Snow Skimmer is used for scouting possible sites where they may set up camp and party down. (What was their mission again? ) It's also used as a quick way to collect samples of interesting looking doodads in the area. The nose is hollow so it serves as extra storage space. The new model has a more powerful propulsion system, fully encased to protect it against the freezing temperatures to improve its reliability. Suicide doors are added just so the operator can reference them constantly to sound cool. And there you go! Feel free to post your own Ice Planet remakes

Couldn't get all the pieces in that light blue (azure?) color so I had to stick with normal blue for the brick built version. -Raised the roof by a plate by using 2x4 wedge plates, looks much better now. Height is one of those things I can't judge too well in LDD -Obviously lots of temp pieces around, pretty happy that I had about 2/3 of the total pieces needed to build this bird -Refined the insides further, managed to lower the piece count by 6 It's okay if no one else loves 8-wide, 'cuz I do lol
-
Neat build, it's pretty (in that sad face sort of way haha)
-
I would just snap a tab off one of the 6091 (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=6091) if that's the problem. It's not like you can see that area anyway once built.
-
Thanks SK! Here's another engine, it's ambiguous enough to be either the 440 or 426 and fits neatly under the hood. Also added 4 color schemes to the first post yesterday :)
-
Final Revision: Added interior and changed all the pictures to updated ones, I'll post alt colors sometime. Thinking of building a blue version, just trying to decide on a color scheme. I guess we're the only ones who like Superbirds, Ferrik, lol
-
So I said to myself, "Self, how can you make this Superbird even more superfly? Give it interchangeable engines of course!" And so I did. I rearranged the hood and pieces behind the nose to create a 3x4 space almost 2 bricks deep to stuff an engine into. It's enough space to fit a modest engine... or a big honking blown one. Guess which one I chose! The cross axle plugs into the cross brick in the car so there aren't any loose pieces. Here's the engine by itself: The cone is just there to make it look pretty, it should be removed to plug into the car of course.

LDD MOC: Wasteland Express (WIP)
Henchmen4Hire replied to Laura Beinbrech's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Post apokaliptic? Y u no make it all grey and black and add moar gunz! Haha, just kidding! Always fun to see people do their own thing instead of sticking to the same ol', same ol'. -
-Made some minor tweaks, check the first post. Thanks Ferrik! The levers don't bother me, and I don't know what else I could use anyway that wouldn't look just as "out of place" haha
-
MOOOPAAARRRRRR! Satisfying my muscle car itch. Needs a few little tweaks, nothing a little colored electrical tape won't fix ;) Final Version -Interchangeable engines, see 4th and 7th posts -Doors and trunk can open -Minifig scale (8 wide) -Will attach those floating bits somehow More pics: Alternate Colors:
