News LEGO CREATOR 2014 News & Discussion
Corydoras replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It isn't on the side of the mountain - the hut and the mountain are two separate builds and the latter seems like an unnecessary addition to me, just some grey bricks stacked together and decorated with small bits of greenery. -
I have no idea. The Jaw Beast has a weird shaped purple piece that I think is its head and arms like a mantis - no hands, just long single spike on each arm. Did any HF sets to date have flick-fire missles? Because I'm pretty sure EVO XL has them.
-
If I remember correctly, every set contains one or two of them, the walking gun thingy having a total of three to fight. They also come in at least three different colors - green/lime, orange/yellow and red. The packaging, which is the same as always in HF (plastic bags) shows them alongside the hero minifigs in the bottom right part of the bag. You know, like in the licensed sets, where the minifigs & their names are shown in the corner at the front of the box. Also, the supposed teal parts on Jaw Beast might, in fact, be the same color as the freeze ray/sword on the Stormer mech. They're really small bits, so it doesn't really matter, I guess. I have a few teal katanas to compare, but we'll know for sure when the official pics show up.
-
Yes. They look much like these, but without the pincers at the front.
-
Well, I was only able to take a better look at Ariel's tail, but I think the dresses are new pieces.
-
As far as I know, they're not anywhere on the Net. Why are you so interested in my source? I assure you that it's 100% genuine - you'll see when the official pictures show up. I'm not trying to troll you guys. Any discrepancies between my descriptions and actual looks of the sets is just my incorrect interpretation of what I saw. F. ex. I'm still confused about the Splitter Beast. At first he reminded me of a Balrog, but the big red piece I thought was his head might be his shoulder - if this is the case, my first impression was incorrect. I wonder if my two heads theory is true... The evil brans from the recent wave have some kind of tails, these bugs don't have them. They look quite generic and there is abundance of them in the sets. I think I've already seen something like them in one of those weird Bionicle playsets.

I can confirm the Mountain Hut. It looks like a rehash of the Log Cabin, mostly brown with Dark Red roof, a rock/mountain with a small brickbuilt eagle on top, a quad and a small pine tree. Not too exciting. -
Or Garmadon going good = Sensei forced to be evil as there must be always a balance between good and evil... Interesting and confusing.

The hero mechas share the same basic style. They have some kind of large translucent backpacks (except for the red one, which has rotors) and two of them have one of their arms turned into a launcher shooting small spheres like the Ninjago dragons and many other HF figures. The white one has something different, however, but I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a beam or a lightning sword. The red one is shown shoothing red laser beam at a bug minion. One of the smaller hero sets has something like a walking cannon instead of a typical mecha with the yellow hero as a gunner, shotting spheres at a bunch of bug minions.

I'm not a fan of the theme, but I think they are MUCH better than the recent wave. The villains, at least. Yes and yes. However, the purple head was called "Jaw Beast" and it's the smallest. The teal parts (not sure if I'm 100% right about it, the colors were a little off) are only small bits. Splitter is the demonic Balrog-like one. One more thing to say about the latter - after staring at the image for a couple of minutes, I suddenly realized the red crab-like part with downward pointing "horns" that I believed was the creature's head, might really be his shoulder pad. In this case, his head is a large dark part I mistook for his shoulder/back and his starting to look more like the Rockbiter from "Neverending Story", with a massive rocky jaw (still cool and menacing, though) and one (?) red eye. Or... he has two heads! Then his name, derived from "splitting", would actually make sense... Sorry, it's really hard to make out details from such small pictures... That's how it is. Maybe the hero figs come in two different variants? I've already tell you all I could make out from those blurry pictures. The figs looked okay, not too goofy. Looking forward to see them in hi res. The white one (is his name Stormer?) would make a nice Stormtrooper.
-
I hope so. I'd like to see the pics, too - larger and better quality, without the "confidential" stamp.
-
The pics were small and blurry, that's all I can say about the sets. The structure in the "Brave" set doesn't really look like the tribune. I remember a tan wall with lavender doors and yellow flag.
-
What? Did I say Evas are robots? As far as I remember (watched only a small part of the series years ago), they are some kind of biomechanoid creations. The villains in the new HF also look more organic - the hero mechas are bulkier and are clearly machines, but these things look more biomechanoid. That's why they remind me of Evangelion. All of them are very dark - mostly black, I guess. The Balrogesque one has head and claws in regular red. The Flyer Beast has yellow head and shoulders, possibly some trans yellow as well. The third one has purple head and small bits of teal/turqoise in his limbs (?). I don't care if you believe me or not. I saw the pics in a retailers' catalogue and even if I could post the images, I wouldn't. Posting pics labeled as confidential is forbidden, you know.

I don't collect HF, but I honestly think they're way better than the Brain Attack stuff which I considered buying for parts for mecha MOCing. They are regular HF action figures. Is this what you're asking?

The Cinderella's castle is mostly white, with light blue roofs. It seems to be pretty nice build, not just some lame playset with two walls and some furniture. The Rapunzel tower would fit nicely in the Castle theme - the only things that make you think it's Disney Princesses theme are the figure and the boxart. It has grey walls, yellow tudor wall panels and dark blue Harry Potter/Belleville roof. The smallest Ariel set is a small pearl gold gate reminiscent of the Atlantis theme and a brown treasure chest. The Cinderella carriage is light blue. The other set with Ariel has her and the prince in a rowboat (I seem to remember a boat scene in the movie, which I've watched eons ago) and some white structures. The "Brave" set... I don't really know what is the tan+lavender structure in this one, haven't seen the movie.

Cheesy? These sets look pretty awesome to me. The villains remind me of some titans or angels from Evangelion and they look very menacing, some apocalyptic backgrounds adding to the effect. One of those guys is a black&red Balrog-like monster with what seems to be a scythe as a weapon. Most of the sets also contains some small four-legged bug minions. You're right. The hero mechas have no heads, but large cockpits in the center and the figs are standing inside them (I clearly remember the orange one standing, not sitting). Maybe the new legs are to make them connect to the mech without studded system parts? The villains, on the other hand, have heads. Breez is the green one, right? As far as I remember, she is standing on top of the winged villain (Flyer Beast?) like she is trying to control him or to find some weak spot on his head. That's what it looked like to me, at least.

The minifig wears dark colors, but also seems to have one light grey (silver?) arm, which is weird, cause the Nindroids have one silver arm. The light gray extends on a small portion of his/her torso, it looks like he/she has some kind of dark toga-like robe draped over one of his/her shoulders. The hair is a darker shade of grey. The character also seems to have a veil over his/her mouth like the ninjas. That's all I could make out from the small picture. Who this character may be? I'm dying to know. Sadly, no Dareth... The character accompanying Lloyd in the Dragon set could be him, but I think it's sensei because of the rice hat.
-
Well, let's say that if you have any questions about the sets, I can try and ask them.
-
Yes, you guessed correctly. BTW, the pictures I saw were very small and I'm not sure if they are actual minifigs or just minifig-sized. Their legs look very different from regular minifig legs (more detailed and robotic, reminiscent of the Exo-Force robot villains), but most of them appear to have normal minifig torsos with some logos printed on them. The white one has what looks like some removable armor piece, something much like the space marine gear from CM.
-
HF parts. Yes, even the orange XL guy looks like a mech with a minifig sitting in the cockpit.
-
Saw a couple of pics in the retailers' catalogue. The new Disney Princess theme indeed has minidolls like in the Friends line. The sets are actually pretty nice, substantial builds, but some large <insert that tiresome argument> pieces also seem to be involved. I really like the Rapunzel tower set, which contains new rounded corner panel walls with tudor pattern reminiscent of the classic Castle sets!
-
Yeah, possible. I think at least two of them had orange pauldrons like this one and long weapons. In a retailers' catalogue.
-
Yup. That's how it looks like.
-
Saw small pics of the new sets. This wave is called: Invasion from Below and it features the heroes in chibi (minifig) forms piloting mechs and battling giant villains (I mean regular HF-sized figures). I don't collect HF, but I honestly think the sets look cool and certainly wouldn't disappoint fans of the theme.

The images were preliminary (labeled: confidential) and didn't feature any finished minifig designs. The only thing I know for sure is that the clones from the Utapau set have orange arms, cloth kamas like the ARC trooper and Phase II helmet designs.
