That looks promising I really enjoy A Song of Ice and Fire, currently reading the 5th book. Also the tv show does great justice to all the things from the books. It is fun to see this built, as it has not yet been show on tv. In fact, not many parts of the books take place there either I am looking forward to more

My dad: "what would you like for your birthday? And no you are not getting any Lego" I cant even remember what kind of useless stuff my parents get me every year, I know for sure its not Lego... My sister: "Hey, what Lego theme are you into this year? and what is the set number of the set that I should get you?" I gotta love the gall, we spend every birthday building the sets she gets me. The occasional one night stand: "Wow! I haven't played with that stuff in years! We should build something!" We spent half the night building modulars (imagine my disappointment ). My best friend: "Hey buddy! Congrats! Be sure to check your mailbox tomorrow!" Huge BL order containing very useful parts! All this has been said at least twice. The thing my dad says has become somewhat of a tradition for the past 5 years . And my best friend only knows how to use Bricklink because I spent a full day explaining it to him, man that website needs to be updated to this century yesterday...

I also hardly ever buy sets in the stores. It helps a lot the we in Europe have like 5 different Amazon's and they all ship, cheaply or for free, to all other country's in Europe. Just keep an eye out for good prices and you are guaranteed to pay 30% or even more under the official Lego retail price...

Mirkwood Elf Army - price difference
large88 replied to NiL_FisK_Urd's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
These differences in price between continents have been known for a while. Especially the licensed sets differ greatly in price. It has something to do with economy of scale, pricing policy of the Lego Group, local taxes and economy etc... -
It does not have to take years to make profit on a set. I keep a close eye on all the Amazons here in Europe. And by doing so I have been able to double my money on several sets. The trick is to buy a set, in an other country via Amazon, that is simply more expensive here. Mostly I use sets that will sell for about 50 euros here, so I want to buy them for about 25 to 30 euros on one of the many Amazons in Europe. You have to keep a really close eye on the prices because the sales are very short some times. I did this with the Dolphin Cruiser from Friends. I bought a bunch for 24 euros per set on Amazon in Italy and sold all of them here for 50 euros per set within a week. This is an extreme example but it works great. Sometimes it takes about 1 to 2 months to sell everything but there is still a quick profit. And don't forget that it is better to have profit now than to wait 2 to 4 years for a set to retire. You might be able to make a bigger profit in that period of time by quickly buying and selling lower priced sets.

Worth the cost to get into 9V now, with a huge investment in PF?
large88 replied to Locutis's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Besides the track, which you can borrow like you said before, you will be needing several 9v motors. These are not very hard to come by but are very expensive, from 30 to about 50 dollars a piece. Yet the huge cost in batteries for PF might actually make the investment in 9v motors very sensible. You could try to convince your fellow Lug members to also start using PF in the displays. 9v works great but the motors don't last forever and one day they will all be forced to start using PF instead. It would make sense if they started to run 9v and PF side by side. If the battery life is a problem you might want to consider running them on separate tracks. -
It happened to me as well

The positioning next to the Town Hall does make it look small. It would fit in better in between or next to the Pet Shop.

Hobbiton gets a water well

@Karlson, yes the party tree field, and the party on it, are definitely on the to do list. But I will not be starting that for a while. @Seaber, yes the bridge and the mill will be the part that connects The Green Dragon to the Hobbiton. I will start that after I have finished The Green Dragon.

Thanks for the support guys! I am hoping to start building the left part of The Green Dragen this week. And it will probably take a few Bricklink orders for the Tan walls and the DBG roof Also I will add chimneys and keep working on the inside details. There are never enough details I am hoping some day it will look like this:

Yeah, it looks blue but it is Dark Bluish Grey. The lighting was bad.Bad image, but the grey looks better

That is fun idea But I am working on The Green Dragon now, and I need to figure out a way to make that conect to the Bag End part And that is enough work for the next few months
