Well if we are going to be all precise about what does and does not make you an AFOL, I would consider myself an AFOLOTRL or an AFOSWL. Somehow that does not sound right Basically if you like Lego and you let it be part of your life in whatever way, you are an AFOL. Oh yeah, and being an adult

It kind of depends on what you want to do on the inside. If you want to leave it empty your scale is good. If you want a realistic interior you might want to make it a bit bigger to fit all the necessary features.

General Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Questions
large88 replied to jmagaletta's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The 4191-1: Captain's Cabin set would never fit in the 6x6 cabin space of the 4195-1: Queen Anne's Revenge set. You could cram it all in but it was never meant to go there I think... -
You must have spent a small fortune My Goblin King Battle arrived today

General Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Questions
large88 replied to jmagaletta's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
It is possible, but I have my doubts. The duel takes place in a room that is roughly the width of the Orthanc tower. This would mean the Orthanc would be near minifig size and I don't think I can afford that . -
Looks great! also you did a good job on the editing

Ok, then go get 79003-1: An Unexpected Gathering, because it is an awesome set or, if they have one, the 79004-1: Barrel Escape. You get a great variation of figs in that set -

On Brickset you can find all lotr and hobbit figs. Personally I would not buy anything at the Lego store, you can get sets much cheaper online. But if you must, buy this one 79003-1: An Unexpected Gathering. -

I do the exact same thing And when people come to my house the first thing they ask "where did you buy that?" and then "are there instructions for that?" and after that some of them start building some of the sets I have laying around. Lego fun all around! Some of my friends even started collecting after I pulled them form their Dark Age

Beware: eBay fraud -- Train MOC instructions
large88 replied to Steinkopf's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Wow, this is really annoying for those who put time and effort in these creations only to see someone else profit from them. I remember a trick someone used to "safely" share instructions with others. I will explain: Firstly do not put them on the web for everyone to download. Ask people to contact you via email if they want to obtain your instructions, for free or money does not matter. When you have some contact info of the interested person hide this info, a place only you will know where to find it, in the instructions you send them. If your instructions turn up somewhere you don't like them to be you just download/buy them and look up the info you have hidden. You then know who has "leaked" them. You can then contact this person or report them to moderators/authorities. Telling people you are using this technique to safeguard you intellectual property might keep them from "stealing" from you. Some of you may already know this but I felt like sharing this to provide a somewhat safer way of sharing instructions. -
Yeah! Bought the 79010-1: The Goblin King Battle for 60 euros (50 pounds, 79 dollars) in the UK on Amazon that saved me about 40 euros compared to the regular Lego price

Looks great, did you take this from The Adventures of Asterix?

The left wing is 48, the middle 16 and the right wing is also 48. The middle part stands out 5 studs. I built the roof with these these and these, all in black of course
