I would love a UCS B-Wing. But a UCS A-Wing not so much, I thought they were the most boring star-fighter in the SW Universe until I saw the JSF. EDIT: IMHO of course.

10144 sandcrawler in store display case review
Praiter Yed replied to echobasehoth's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I agree 179 euro is a good price. I recently saw a new sealed 10144 go on eBay UK for £142! I hope your son enjoys your new acquisition. -
After no delivery, an eBay case and a refund from PayPal, I finally got my hands on two 30051 Mini X-Wings and a 30054 Mini AT-ST from another seller. I thought I might try to make a display of the X-Wings with my Midi-Falcon. The AT-ST might just stay in the packet - if they can't make it look good on the packaging I don't hold out much hope for the real version. I quite like the Mini X-Wing, I found myself swooshing it after I built the first one - I'm middle aged - is this normal?

10144 sandcrawler in store display case review
Praiter Yed replied to echobasehoth's topic in LEGO Star Wars
My Sandcrawler is not so proudly displayed on a shelf in my office/nerd room - I either love it or hate it depending on what angle I look at it. Alas Marshal Banana and Cavegod's MOCs have tipped me further towards hating it . Maybe if I had such a cool display as yours my love for this set could be rekindled - I am quite envious. BTW I'm sure you probably already know, but, you can buy the sticker sheet from BL. I would also love to know what you paid - but it looks like you're avoiding answering . I have experience with this problem; you could try pointing out to your wife all the things that she displays in your living room that you don't like, but have never complained about. This approach didn't work for me, but maybe you will have more luck. -

LEGO Exclusive 10221 - Super Star Destroyer
Praiter Yed replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I will swap my Jawas for your Sandcrawler. Anyway, it seems BenBrick1234's locked topic links to Hoth Bricks where they highlight a typo on the UCS sticker. 'turoblaser' did anybody here spot that? Sorry If I've missed something and this has already been pointed out. -

A 1cm gap! - That's huge Even the small gap on 8099 bothers me. The Jawas of Tatooine already have the solution... -
LEGO Exclusive 10221 - Super Star Destroyer

I agree. It's lacking the wow factor and I'm not really sure why. Apart from Dengar I not particularly impressed with the figures either. If it was cheaper I'd possibly still buy it, but at this price - no chance. -
The only thing that really bothers me is the flat bottom. I suppose the issue would be at what height to display this - if it's on a low surface maybe the gaps at the rear and the flat bottom are not a problem. Surely the main focal point is the city area. Overall I think it's alright, but I still wouldn't buy it. I agree - I'd go as far as to say I don't think it has a play set feature - just an alternative display feature which includes some mini-figs. At least that would add a touch of colour .

Looks like you managed a groaner there yourself Jedd. In-fact, I think that's a level 11 groaner.

Good find Brickdoctor And here are those close ups edited from Nannan Z's pics. From this rough pic the interior looks pretty compact and rather than looking like a play-set, IMO they've managed to create an alternative display feature. New consoles ? I wonder if they're stickers or printed. That blast door looks too small for a minifig to fit through. I never thought I'd use the words 'flat bottom' and 'nice rear' in the same sentence. I'm still looking forward to hi-res pics.

The reference pic shown here does resemble the rebel troop helmet from that angle. However, unlike the rebel helmet, the Imperial Navy Trooper helmet slopes outwards at the sides quite drastically. When viewed from the front it is 'closer' to the headpiece TLG have used. IMHO it's debatable which mould would be preferable. I think if Lego had made a new more accurate helmet the size of it would look ridiculous (probably something akin to Dark Helmet himself).

That would still need an extra long one of these. I'm assuming it's just bad CGI for now - I really dislike these illustrations TLG use, I find them quite deceptive.
-
Thanks for the pics Hewman. Can't say I was too fussed who the officer was going to be - just good to get a different one. IG-88 looks odd on the illustration - will have to reserve judgement on that 'til I see the real thing. BUT, is that supposed to be an upside down 1 x 1 round brick on top of his head? If it is, the way it's presented looks compressed and would suggest it has a stud on the top and bottom - which I imagine is unlikely.
-
Thanks for the review Future74 I think this looks much better than I anticipated. The underside is a bit basic, but is this really a huge problem? I imagine kids would mostly play with the interior rather than spend huge amounts of time swooshing and surely AFOLs would just put it on display (although I'm sure we're all guilty of an occasional swoosh every now and then). IMO this is one of TLGs better efforts this year but as I already have the UCS I won't be buying this one. I'll probably pick up the new Luke on BL though.
-
The head wrap and printed face combo make for a much more accurate Dengar head - I'm looking forward to seeing the torso print. I'll probably have to spend over the odds on BL for this fig, it's unlikely that I'll buy the Executor.
-
Maybe it's better to be seen comparing colours with a minifig head than just looking a like a bloke out to buy nail-polish. This is a nice simple solution but very effective
-
The shape and length of the nose give this a sort of architectural/art-deco style which is both unusual and yet in-keeping with the SW universe. Nice cock-pit too.

My initial thoughts were that this is an interesting build but a bit too spiky and that GG gets a little lost in all the bleys and spikyness. However, I've just looked at some reference images and find the wheel bike is more spiky than I recalled, not as colourful as I thought and GG does kind of blend in to all the technology. So, well done.

[MOC] Imperial P-102 class ''Avenger'' crash site
Praiter Yed replied to Hollander's topic in LEGO Star Wars
A nice creative solution to not having enough bricks to finish your ship . I like this Hollander. With limited pieces you've managed to capture the feel of the ship crashing; the buried nose as it has ploughed through the desert sand, huge pieces of metal wrenched away from the underside of the hull. The only thing I am not too keen on is the use of the six dishes on top - I know they're some kind of greebling but they just seem too big and too numerous for my liking. IMO something to represent weaponry similar to the binoculars on TLGs midi Star Destroyer would work better. But that's a minor complaint and probably one that can be put down to personal preference. -
I can't beleive how well you've matched the reference at this scale . I too would like to know where the slope part comes from - but first I'm going to take a guess - one of the racer sets?
