  1. I was supposed to be building a white one but a female imposed ban on my Lego expenditure has forced me to press on with a grey version. I set myself the challenge of building a speeder that could seat a minifig, feet on pedals, without removing the legs - the solution forced some inaccuracies in the build. I'm aware that aside from the huge rear end (that's how I like 'em) there are other 'problems' but before I start high-lighting where I think it fails I'd love to hear other opinions. I sound pretty negative but I'm actually quite pleased with it... I produced some LDD files using the front design (without the illegal bits obviously) and abandoned the idea of a 1 stud wide nose until I saw Darth Yogi's Speeder in the brick. I thought his version worked really well and decided to give it a go but ultimately reverted back to the curved slope as seen above. I will still be building the Hoth version and am likely to try a different approach as I have some ideas that I haven't explored here. I'll probably be asking 'the community' to decide which version I should keep. More here when public. lxf file EDIT: Added pictures of Hoth Speeder Bike. I must give credit to Larry Lars for the Blaster/Outrigger/Steering Vane combo. More here. lxf file
  2. I was completely thrown by this because every time I look at the images I think the 'foot' is off centre - I had to check your instructions to make sure it wasn't . There's nothing wrong with a primitive build and when you set yourself a challenge... well, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. Plus it looks spot-on next to your munificent. I'm still looking forward to more of these midi builds
  3. Nice to see an early review of this set DarkFader . As I have suspected from early on, this set looks very poor indeed. Even though I am not a fan of the 'Battle of Endor' speeder bike design I find it a little frustrating that TLG have chosen to change the design without improving on it - in fact, imo they've made it worse! Either improve the design or at least keep it consistent. And I feel the 'battle tree' is just meh. Imho this set is barely fit for a child and I'm embarrassed to say that I will definitely be buying it. Only for the the mini-figs - although I'm sure a pile of brown bricks and some leaves will come in handy. In summary: TLG score a sale out of lazy design and one man's obsession - it's hardly encouragement for them to try harder.
  4. I'm surprised how well Henry Jones Snr's face works for George Lucas - good call Brick Pig.
  5. I'm not considering buying them. I was thinking more along the lines of passing on the info incase anyone still had vouchers they wanted to try to redeem - might be worth further investigation . Although I agree that 'it doesn't sound right' if you presume that a eBay seller might be wary of negative feedback... it could be true. EDIT: Excerpt from BBC Watchdog blog. "Anyone unable to get hold of their toy is asked to contact News International Customer services on 020 7860 1129 or custserv@the-sun.co.uk. Readers need to keep hold of their voucher and have the location, date and time of the store where they had their problem to hand in order for their claim to be processed." And same info from The Sun website plus some alternative builds for those lucky enough to have all the models .
  6. I've seen the adverts on TV for this and pretty much dismissed it as cheap sh*te. Your review has made the TARDIS a little more tempting. These figures lack the charm of the Minifig though .
  7. Just looking on eBay and someone is selling the vouchers - they stated the following; "THE SUN HAS SAID THAT DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND THEY ARE EXTENDING THE TIME YOU HAVE LEFT TO REDEEM UNTIL THE END OF MAY IF THE STORE HAS NOT GOT THE TOY YOU WERE AFTER THEY WILL GIVE YOU A PHONE NUMBER THEN YOU RING THE NUMBER AND TELL THEM WHAT TOYS YOU WERE AFTER AND THEY WILL HAVE THEM SENT TO THE STORE OF YOUR CHOICE THEN YOU GIVE THEM YOUR VOUCHER AND GET AS MANY TOYS FOR THE VOUCHERS YOU HAVE IN OTHER WORDS JUST FOR INSTANCE YOU WANTED 5 OUT OF THE SEVEN THEN IF YOU HAVE THE VOUCHERS FOR THAT 5 THEN YOUR ENTITLED TO 5 TOYS" I don't know if this is true.
  8. Haven't seen this episode yet - arghh spoilers. This looks great and your forced perspective works brilliantly - how tall is it really?
  9. Really nice speeder with good part usage - particularly the 'noise reduction device' I agree with Solscud007 - sharper images would be better.
  10. This is great LuxorV.
  11. I too think the bottom could do with some work. But it's not uncommon for TLG to leave the undersides unfinished. IMO you should either work more on the bottom or just remove the image - there's no point drawing extra attention to an area that's not the 'spotlight of the ship'.
  12. I found a link to this Brickshelf tutorial on the Minifig Customisation Workshop forum.
  13. Still looking forward to seeing this finished. Those angles at the front look ace.
  14. I agree with KDM, It's an unusual mash-up that slightly resembles the T-16. And like FallenangeI I'd also like to see you tackle the full shuttle - it looks interesting. BTW thanks for the shout-out - I'm honoured - but I think you changed the design quite a lot from how I did it.
  15. How come you didn't enter this in the contest?
  16. That's one of my 'under consideration' parts but at the moment I'm messing with a few variations and all of them use parts not available in brown Cheers Fallenangel The studio model Images are much better reference than I had found and now you've confirmed that the 'model kit' is in fact a Hasbro toy I have to agree with following the illustration. Thanks
  17. OMG - I didn't know Allo Allo existed outside the UK This creation is very cute - IMO the gun would be better the other way round though.
  18. Excellent as always Legostein. The Venator is particularly good and I like the way you built the frame.
