The Penguin's SW minifigures..... )
Praiter Yed replied to The Penguin's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I haven't seen your SW customs before Penguin so I've enjoyed looking through your collection. I think they are all good, but out of your latest batch I think Even Piell, Pre Visla and Tan Divo really stand out. -
That's true, but there's no way I'm taking a hand off my chrome Vader . 1 point to AndyC. Nice ones Skrytsson - Number 4 made me LOL

Watched a brand new boxed one of these go on eBay yesterday for £1,270 + £30 postage (totalling around 1,485 Euro or 2,050 USD) that's the most I've ever seen one sell for. Suddenly becoming quite tempting to sell mine.

When you click for more information it says 'make even the villainy of Darth Vaderâ„¢ playful and fun for everyone'. Don't they know that he killed younglings?

Congratulations to you winners!

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

Planet sets look pretty good to me - especially the Death Star EDIT: Got too excited to say thanks for the pics . - That's no excuse for bad manners though -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Praiter Yed replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
These figures look ace! Droid escape is going to be a must have set for me and possibly one to buy multiples of just to get plenty dirty Sand Troppers. 3PO's new print looks interesting (I'll reserve judgement on that for better pics). But even on this low-res, grainy image Porkins and R5 D8 look fantastic ! You just can't beat a bit of Porkins. -
Just ordered my mate Season 2 Clone Wars DVD box-set for his birthday. Oh, what's that got to do with Lego I hear you say!. Well, I'm still a child at heart and I don't like to feel left out when other people are getting presents so I treated myself to the new Ewok Attack set (with 30% off ).

As Brickdoctor also states about some of his choices, I did throw it in as a maybe . For me personally it was the stand-out ship of ESB because I'd never seen a space ship that looked like an iron before . On reading those comments I'd have to concede that perhaps it would not be recognisable by none SW fans. I would guess that the AT-AT would be the stand-out ESB vehicle to your average Joe Bloggs. Agreed, I can't imagine any future sci-fi films ever having the cultural impact of the OT and doubt there will ever be any new star-ship designs that will be considered iconic. Going back to a different note, just happened upon the following, this is what I referred to a couple of pages back about George Lucas being annoyed at people changing films... You can read the abridged article where I found this quote here. Or you can read more at www.savestarwars.com

Didn't notice the date on this until reading some other comments, it's the first time I've seen it and for selfish & nostalgic reasons I'm glad I have. My 1st thought was that it reminded me of an updated version of 918 my favourite classic space craft (even over 928) and then I saw that's exactly what it is. Lovely work Solitary Dark , makes me want to revisit some of my classic space sets.

Man, you've taken the bull by the horns on this one. Sorry, none of the above. It doesn't go beyond the OT movies and it's linked to something one of them says in one of the three films - I've already said too much .
-
Agreed, still nice to see though. Following on from SW forum on 'iconic' space craft of Star Wars: I see so, kind of narrowing down the field of the word 'iconic' to be a specific visual symbol of one film? I'm not sure I would necessarily consider that it's role in the plot would make it iconic but maybe (for me) it's visual impact. I would plump for these... TPM: H-type Nubian yacht + the one you said, Lucrehulk, maye even the N-1 AOTC: Obi Wan's JSF ROTS: Eta 2 This is more how I would think of something being iconic. The beauty of the OT is that it holds a unique historical and cultural moment in film where for a generation it was like nothing they had ever seen before. Special effects and design where far beyond most previous sci-fi movies (possibly with the exception of 2001 which also has a ship which I may consider iconic). I'd still be tempted to scratch the Y-wing off your list (sadly because It's a personal fave) and change the Executor for just generic Star Destroyer I'd maybe add Slave I. Anybody else have any thoughts on what warrants and/or is a iconic ship/vehicle in SW?

OK, I get that, sorry for going off topic - I think I'll follow up in the culture & media SW thread . On topic: I got my the kids advent calendar the other day and couldn't resist a peek under the lid (without actually opening any widows). I was a bit disappointed to realise that the image on the back of the box shows how it's supposed to be displayed... (propped up against something?). It's traditional in our household to hang advent calendars on the wall - pretty much impossible with this...

She's strong willed, sarcastic and she's a fighter but once you get to know her she's completely armless (groan) - sorry, nul points. Thanks for the blog Oky . Luke is definitely happy about the kiss (and I think there could be some symbolism in the angle of the rope ) but also, no points. The answer relates to canon.

Can somebody explain what the new meaning of 'iconic' is. In my understanding of the word there would be very few spacecraft throughout the whole of sci-fi that are truly iconic and none of them would be from the PT or CW.

Liverpool Store Grand Opening
Praiter Yed replied to subtlegoalie's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
It's a shame that you're disappointed but my overwhelming feeling is relief - I was hoping to make it there today but my plans got scuppered. Thanks for the pic EDIT: The packaging seems pretty poor too - is that just a generic musically themed minifig image? The silhouette on the left looks like it has a mohican ! -
Well done winners! Also thanks for the contest
-
Wow, thanks for the blog . Although this is a different scene, it was Stardusty's comment that gave me this idea way back in May! I've only just got round to shooting it - thanks Stardusty ... Fun quiz: Why did it have to be Leia saying this and not Luke? EDIT: Added answer

That's pretty cool. I doubt any Liverpudlian AFOLs would be too disappointed with three as long as they miss out Ringo Starr. Although, at least you don't need secateurs to take the head off a minifig . -
Hmmmm, sorry to contradict but I think it might be more like this ...

WW Category 3: Is this the end for Tuco?
Praiter Yed replied to Praiter Yed's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thanks BMW. -
Love the Blu-Ray joke Oky . Excellent choice of quote and I'm particularly fond of the Hammer Horror style 'villager with a flaming torch' . I vote that we all group together and fight these Blu-Ray changes in the best way we can... by taking pictures of Lego! George will soon realise he's gone too far this time.

Oh yes, it's the same. Thanks for the review commdr_neyo. I coveted this figure for a long time and when my missus finally accepted that that she was stuck with a nerd, she bought me one for my birthday . I can't bring myself to open the packet though which is a bit of a waste, sometimes I just peer through the hole in the bag at Threepio's shiny little face. I'm quite envious of people who have opened them or bought one that's already opened. I'd like to have another so that I could just mess with it and sit it on stuff without any worries but I still wouldn't be able to pull the hands off like you did.

Thank you for that very nice comment Nightshroud99 I did take some liberties with the position / style of grave markings and how close they are to the courtyard area but this was purely to fit in the 16x16 area.
