Anybody read about Joe Johnston wanting to make a Boba Fett movie? More here. EDIT: Sorry if this has already surfaced elsewhere.

[MOC] "Micro Collection" Death Star Escape
Praiter Yed replied to BaronSat's topic in LEGO Star Wars
What a great idea to remake some nostalgic SW toys in Lego, and beautifully done too I don't actually remember this particular version but I do remember the rubbish board one they made. -
Very nice Hollander - much sleeker than version 1. . I'm also looking forward to V3. WOW. You are relentless in the destruction of your own MOCs - I wish I could be more like this. I can't bring myself to take mine apart (not even the crap ones!).

This is lovely. I was hoping to build one of these myself, now I know where to come for 'research'. I remember saying that I thought you had redefined the definitive Lego T-47, I think you've just done the same for the AT-ST. A fine job sir This is called procrastination and I'm sure it leads to the Dark-Side. I'd love to see some interior shots, only much sooner than 'eventually'. Please
-
Brilliant! The AT-AT does look HUGE - is it the angle that makes it look like it's leaning? I'd be terrified of that beast falling or getting knocked over.

Ooops Sorry - that's why you should never post after drinking . - Thanks for the hi-res pic grogall. I quite like TLG's little jokes even though they're not particularly funny. They make me feel like maybe there's still a good old fashioned human part of TLC and it's not just a faceless corporate money making machine. But then I see how much they're charging for this... thing and I think nah, corporate money making machine. I wonder if I'd been a Meccano fan as a child if I might have a hobby I could afford now. That's kind of what I meant, but I've slagged this set so much, I'm starting to feel guilty about it.
-
Thanks for the hi-res pic grogall I agree, some nice figs and not a bad parts pack but would still have to be on offer before I buy it. I doubt I would ever actually build this. You don't know what a popsicle is for? - It's for eating. Clearly a joke by TLG... Ice Planet = ideal storage for Ice lolly's. It's just a pity that this isn't the only thing that looks like a joke in this set. EDIT: Corrected who I was thanking.

I suspect that there could be a copyright/design right infringement but as a fan-made sticker for sole use or given to the Lego community free-of-charge there shouldn't really be problem. If any legal issue did arise it would start with a polite 'cease and desist' notice which would just be bad pr for TLC really. I doubt anybody buys a UCS just for the sticker so it's not doing any harm to Lego sales. Just go for it.

I read somewhere that they actually smeared Vaseline on the camera lens to obscure the Landspeeder wheels then jokingly called it a 'force-field' . It was quite effective at the time though. Amusing mod LegoCityMann

Although I don't own Lego's version I've always thought from pictures that it's one of their better SW sets but I've never liked the clam shell effect created by their use of curved slopes at the top. Your SNOTted solution looks really good and as mentioned by others the sliding door is an excellent feature. Well done

Doesn't Palpatine say that he doesn't posses this knowledge but suggests that he and Anakin might discover it together? I can't really remember, but lets face it, the guy can't be trusted anyway, who knows what lies he's telling to manipulate Anakin. IMO it would be better for the story arc if Sideous was responsible for Anakin's birth - then ultimately Vader would kill his own father - fits with the whole mythological aspect of SW. I agree, it's nice to have a little ambiguity on the subject but ultimately if the truth is revealed I'll find it too tempting not to find out .
-
Good Healthplan - very funny. I think Palpatine makes his point well enough with 'extending life' and 'preventing people from dying', I don't think he needs to emphasise the point further by mentioning Plagueis could 'create life'. If there is no additional meaning in this comment then it's just extraneous dialogue and there's certainly no need for that in a film that is already flawed and overly long. I beleive the comment is there as a knowing wink to the audience because we are aware of Shimi's 'virgin' birth. Plus, Sideous would relish talking to Anakin about his 'father' without him realising. Hopefully all will be revealed in the novel - but somehow I doubt it. EDIT: BTW, what's the torso in your current avatar Brickdoctor?
-
I am aware of this, I read 'Splinter of the Minds Eye' (when I was about 8 or 9) before ESB came out . I have to admit I didn't like it at the time but mostly because my favourite characters (Han & Chewie) weren't involved. However, I think it did go some way to explaining the leap in Luke's force skills between ANH and ESB. The point I was trying to make though, was that I have no interest in the EU but the Darth Plageuis novel does sound interesting. Shmi Skywalker claims that Anakin has no father. She bore the child, gave birth to him, and raised him. Leading Qui-Gon Jinn to beleive that Anakin is the Chosen One, conceived by Midichlorians. Darth Sideous says about Darth Plagueis; "He had such a Knowledge of the Dark side that he could manipulate the Midichlorians to create life" Surely the insinuation here is that Plagueis is Anakin's father - otherwise why bother including it in the script?

LEGO Exclusive 10221 - Super Star Destroyer
Praiter Yed replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks drdavewatford - I do like that head print - I'm wondering if I could make it work on my IG-88 MOC (probably not ). DSS is a bit crap in a set of this nature. -
My interest in the EU has always pretty much started and ended with 'Splinter Of The Minds Eye' but my curiosity has been piqued by this Darth Plauguis novel. I found the scene in ROTS where Palpatine tells Anakin about Darth Plauguis quite intriguing - I think this is because my interpretation of the scene was that Plauguis was insinuated to be Anakin's 'force' father (or is that Darth Sideous himself?). I always thought that the Death Star II was supposed to be bigger than the first one. The first DS couldn't be almost the same size as Alderaan because it looked like a 'small moon'. I think in this instance you could attribute the apparent difference in size being down to the Death Star being near and Alderaan being far away. Also, there is no correlation between moon sizes, I could be wrong here, but I've always considered that Endor would be a large moon, maybe around the size of Earth and that Endor would be orbiting some kind of gas giant similar to Jupiter. This is just pure assumption on my part so there's probably something in the EU that shows I'm talking out of my ...

No problem . It's a shame your chrome Vader is defective - would still be interesting to see some pics if possible. Where did you get your figure from? If you got it from BL you might have a case for returning it but if you got it off eBay - no chance. Also it might be worth calling Lego customer services - admittedly it's a long shot but worth a try.

That is cool! Now added to my Christmas list.

LEGO Exclusive 10221 - Super Star Destroyer
Praiter Yed replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Even though this has more detail, I think I preferred the previous torso. I absolutely the head and head-piece though. I wonder how much this figure is going to set me back . Any pics of IG-88? -
That mark was there when I opened it and until now I've never considered it to be crack as it's actually under the 'chrome'. But now I wonder if the torso was cracked prior to chroming . Oh well, I've still got a few more I wasn't sure if you meant the inside of Vader's legs or his inside leg but I suspect it's the markings on the bigger picture that are the issue. I must admit I've never looked at Vaders inside leg before but this appears to be the only place on this figure where the effect occurs. The surface does look rough but feels smooth.
-
OK, still good light when I got home from work so managed to take some pics. I didn't realise quite how reflective Vader was until now, it's hard to photograph chrome figures . I think you can make out the under-arm area where the chroming hasn't been done and the very edges of the figure have a sliver of silver (try saying that after a couple of beers) but I can't see any areas like dried glue and no rough texture. Let me know if you need to see more angles as I took quite a few shots and might still get chance to shoot some more tomorrow...
-
I like to look in on this topic every now and then and just spend a while browsing through the excellent photography. I thought it was about time I showed some appreciation. I'm very envious of some of the talent on display here, I wish my shots could be as good but I think I'll stick to browsing. Keep up the good work everybody and thanks

Now don't put words in my mouth - I didn't say it wasn't 'normal' I just said mine doesn't have it . Plus I can't 100% vouch for the ones I've not opened. I might get chance to take a shot tomorrow morning .

I have a few Chrome Vaders on the one I have opened you can see the bits under the arms that aren't chromed but there's nothing like dried glue anywhere. A couple of my unopened Vaders look like the chroming process hasn't been as successful - I'd possibly describe them as being speckled but still nothing that looks like dried glue.
