As others have mentioned the face and hat combo is spot-on. I absolutely love your cartoonish vignette -

I'm surprised how well hand drawn decals on paper work. Gives it a nice crafty feel -
TOP SECRET For MCW eyes only Date: 13th September 2099 Location: Area formerly known as Moon Base Beta The following transmissions have been compiled in chronological order. Transmission from Commander Frank Bowman: OK, I'm at the hydroponic pod now, it looks OK from out-here, wait, the air-lock is open, that's weird, XXXX, there's something alive out here, what the XXXX. Is that you Freeman, XXXX!!! (Apart from Bowman's breathing there is a moment of silence as he discharges his weapon). I think I just killed Freeman Lovell, or what's left of him. I'm bringing him in. Set up a Level 42 quarantine. Recording of Doctor Helena McCoye's Preliminary Report: Early tests show that the body has gone through a radical transformation, in layman's terms the human tissue is providing both food and the raw genetic material to create a new organism. Lovell is no longer human, his DNA has completely altered and is remarkably similar that of the Earth potato. Just one more thing, the use of energy weapons has speeded up the process, the creature is still ali... (Audio ends) Transmission from Professor Hans Chandra, Chief Science Officer, Moon Base Beta: Earth base, I hope you're receiving this... 4 Hours ago one of our Hydroponic Experimentation Pods received an alien signal, I've traced it to somewhere beyond the Maris Piper Nebula. This transmission has activated genetic mutation in some of our vegetable crops and either by accident or design caused our chief botanist, Freeman Lovell, to, I don't know, let's say; alienate. Doctor McCoye ran some tests and I've included her preliminary report within this transmission, XXX, I hope she's OK. I'm taking a military team over to the hydroponics bay 51, we lost contact with them around 2 hours ago. I fear the worst. If I don't survive this, you need to know, this is an invasion, I've discovered a message hidden in the data stream; We're here. No! Don't open them yet. Stop, put your weapons down. ...My God, it's full of spores.... Transmission ends. I've only used materials I already owned for this so it's not really cost me anything. If I were to take a guess for someone who doesn't have any decal papers varnish, parts etc to make this I'd go for around £25. I hope to add one more image if I have time and update my flickr asap. More in my flickr. I think I've had more fun with this classic space adventure than any when I was a kid, hope you enjoy it too

Sorry Anio, I can't help and I'm positive that if you definitely want to go down the spraying route, KDM is the man to ask. BUT, I recently read here about vinyl dye and I'm considering trying this myself, sounds like in some respects it could be better than paint as it actually soaks into the plastic . Might mean a bit of experimentation to find the colour you need though.

Just spotted the Lego Star Wars Character Encyclopaedia in my local Asda for only £5. I would have bought a few if I hadn't been with my daughter - she grasses me up to the missus when I buy Lego . Might try to sneak back on my own tomorrow .

I never would have thought that minifig arms would fit to (un-educated guess...) one of these? Brilliant

No need because it's very nice little scene you've created there. The second image picturing Vader in the corridor is my personal favourite .

Received 5 Endor Rebel Commandos in the post today - won them on eBay for £19 including postage - by no means a bargain, but I think about the right price.

Great work on creating the shantytown feel of D9 in this diorama. Good prawns too.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

You're right, I bought some off eBay as 'Brand New from 8038' but they must have been the older ones with balck heads on them - damn! - Should have checked that -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

Thanks for the high-res pics Grogall I've been dying to see the new Y-Wing. I've always considered 7658 to be one of the best system scaled SW OT vehicles and I can't decide whether this is an improvement or not. It seems some bits look better but to the detriment of other areas. IMHO the perfect Y-Wing would be somewhere between the two, lets hope there's more detail underneath this one. Still, a must buy for me though. Nice to see that TLG are really utilising the new R5 heads and the Princess Leia fig looks great too, but could use a little more cleavage imo I think Threepios' print in Droid Escape works much better than I expected but the Sand Troopers are a little over-printed, but still a nice variation - another must buy. 2012 is gearing up to be an expensive year. It would seem so, and I think the Scout Trooper print is slightly different too. Not the best battle pack, but still worth buying more than one. I'm also eager to see hi-res images of the Planets. -

Wasn't too bothered about getting today's set (Grem) but just happened to be passing WH Smiths this morning so picked one up anyway. Turns out it's a great parts pack with 2 of these in it -

I don't think so, the helmet would still be wrong for both of them -

Thanks for the pics eos512 I was already looking forward to the planet sets - now I'm totally hyped by them I think darthnihilius means the x-wing in the planet sets and the face does look a bit Porkins-ish on these pics but the helmet is just generic which makes me doubt that it is him. Shame. -

Looks like you pimped your Knight. Very flamboyant and excellently done! With the risk of sounding stupid; did you sculpt the Tiger & Leopard cubs? EDIT: Sorry, I was being lazy, I've just looked at your WIPs and answered my own question -

Thanks for those much appreciated opinions guys . darthnihilus - the imperial logo is on both arms it's just difficult to see on the reference because there's a reflection on it. I had a feeling that opinions would favour the logo - it's also my preference but unfortunately means I'll need to invest in some new punch pliers - the cheap ones I recently bought are crap -
Here you go.

Thanks badboytje88 - maybe you are distracted by the cleavage . Very nice shot iElkie but that stormtrooper should be sacked. I found your pompous droids most amusing master penguin. And Oky, I like the first one the best but I'm not sure if Mace' thanks are supposed to be genuine or if he's being sarcastic because the rest were so ineffectual - either way it's funny .

Thanks Landshark, next will be the Imperial scanning crew which I could do with some opinions on... Now i don't know whether to take you seriously or not . I think the grain in the photo is dots from the ink-jet print which are emphasised by the size of the image. This wasn't as apparent on my earlier customs due to relying on the surface of the lego to provide the background colour. Also the photo hasn't captured the sheen that the varnish ads which give the decal a nice Lego-ey look. But can't complain the other ones photographed well so swings and roundabouts, horses for courses etc. I'd appreciate some opinions on the arm prints for the Imperial Scanning Crew (reference below)... Please ignore the quality of the Imperial Logo, I'm sure I can improve on this, what I would like to know is, If you think I should: 1. Only apply imperial Logos to the arms? 2. Apply both logo and control panel? or 3. Apply only the control panel? My feeling is that (2.) logo and control panel is a bit too much detail. -

Lighter fluid is good. Squirt all over the sticker, allow to soak in for a short while and it should melt the adhesive. I wouldn't want to guarantee that it won't stain the box but it's never stained anything I've used it on and it evaporates quite quickly. It's also good for cleaning off the sticky residue left by stickers, soak into a cloth and rub off. -

I think the face is a pretty good match but credit should go to Lego for that one . I'm not well versed on characters from Harry Potter but that face is from 4865 Forbidden Forest . -

For the Aunt Beru decal I had been using Lazertran paper but the image was becoming transparent when I applied varnish - even though I used a varnish that isn't supposed to do that . Anybody else had this problem? I bought a sheet of white dry-rub paper a while ago and decided to give it a try. After a few attempts I managed to get it right - this stuff is STICKY and there's no chance of re-positioning once it touches the plastic. I'm pretty happy with the results although the photo doesn't really do this one justice ...
