    I think most people tend to think "tall and thin" when you talk about wizards in general, or even most other magic-based characters. I don't know why that is though.

    Probably 2, maybe 3. Not as many as the Uruk Hai Army, but I got that many to augment the Helm's Deep scene. Don't ask how many, I can't remember. Maybe 6 that I kept for myself I think. What to do with all the Thranduils is a question. The DGA set I'm more likely to buy 3 or more, but I don't want to end up with too many Beorns.

    I think Galaxy Squad is a credit to the designers. The 4 colour schemes work perfectly together, and the bugs have a nice new colour scheme that fits what they're about. The model designs look great too. I have no self control when it comes to space, I always build a fleet. If I ever get a home that has enough room to get out all my sets I'll neatly display all the fleets. My 3 favourites are probably Space Police 1 & 2 and Blacktron 1. Although the model designs are much better now, those are still my favourites. Alien Conquest was good, but not as space-y, there were too many land vehicles and not enough blue ships. SP3 wasn't bad at times but the colours weren't original. Colour scheme plays a big part for me.

    That's a tasty sounding name... Although the Lone Ranger set said something about cavalry and only had 1 horse.

    Thanks to whomever fixed the black background back to white for "read" topics. It was really off-putting. Everything else about the current skin is pretty good (I think) though.

    I dont't understand what people are on about when they say this current line is different to Kingdoms. Other than the Dragon Mountain vs Dragon Prison Rescue thingy, the sets we have here are hardly any different to Kingdoms if you don't count the later additions of blacksmith, mill & joust. Castle? Incredibly similar. Outpost? Cross between dragon wall & lion outpost. Carriage? Cross between lion carriage & dragon transport. Ambush? Scaled down lion carriage scene turned battle pack. Just add an AFOL and/or D2C set next year and it's the same. The level of detail in sets for these subthemes is the same?

    Hi. The point is, that this thread is supposed to be entirely about CONFIRMED information or HIGHLY SUBSTANTIATED "rumour" (ie the information is deemed "probably true" but not proven so yet). Speculation, prediction, possibilities, wishlists etc go in the other thread. Post and discuss in there if you want, no probs. The idea is that whatever anyone reads in here is substantial, with the predictions, possibilities (ie your post) and clutter filtered out.

    That is actually a really good point regarding the elves. TLG has made available to the AFOL MOCing community forest-dweller torsos for use as either fleshies OR yellowies (pretty sure I made that up, what is the usual word?) instead of one or the other. These minifigs are fan service to the "castle/history" guys, who would probably see elves as being more of the ranger variety - as they are depicted in this new set. It is a compromise to the Tolkien fanboys, (who want very specific designs) but where/when else outside of CMFs would we ever see generic elf minifigs? Never in a set. But they have been wanted for years.

    and The last few raised castles have not been as good in my opinion. Raised base plates are not as flexible for mocs as a bunch of bricks and plates, they take up a huge amount of room in the box, they remove a lot of the modularity and hinge options of a castle. But they can be convenient for simplifying a build that includes not just a castle, but the setting for it. Cool option for kids. I don't expect to see them very much if at all in the future though.

    Well I bought it twice. But then, I'm a fleet/army builder. (Not on the scale of some of course!) So now that I've bought & built probably all that I'm going to (unless more sets come next year, but it's very possible that none will) and finally got some shots done, here is my response to a post from I-don't-remember-who (months ago) showing their collection, well here's my collection: If you can't count, there's 2x 30230, 1x 70700, 2x 70701, 2x 70702, 1x 70703, 2x 70704, 1x 70705, 2x 70706, 2x 70707, 1x 70708 & 1x 70709. I haven't found / probably won't find the other polybag.

    So are the new orcs from these 3 sets identical to each other in print? Looks that way to me. Single face, like the dark tan orcs from last 3 waves. Oh well, they do look really good at least. Looking forward to these sets and the movie too.

    There are tutorials & a FAQ on how to do the following things if you need help, but the basics are that you need to upload your pictures to a site that allows public viewing, like Flickr or Brickshelf (or anything, those 2 are the most common here), then link (or deeplink) to them in your Eurobricks post.

    I'm underwhelmed by the Kashyyyk trooper too. Doesn't look up to 2013 standard. The goggles look like early-mid 90s face prints. What happened here!? I'm usually positive about revealed pics but this one I'm not. Maybe the green background makes the minifig colours look bad, I hope that's it.

    Ha. I have 2 of those sets. I even have TIE pilots. I could enter this time! One thing that doesn't seem to be explicitly stated in the rules: is it ONE EACH of the allowed sets or any number, so long as only those parts (in whatever quantity) + the 20 extras are used? The former is my guess.

    I'm sure we all agree here that any joining of Lego & Megabloks parts should definitely be an "illegal connection". As in against the law.

    It happens. eg prototypes etc used for photos that go wandering. They usually appear on eBay.

    The head is on crooked... I prefer a solid helmet with a real face on the head, like the recent TIE pilots.

    I liked this year's Old Republic pack, it had 2 generic Sith troopers and 2 generic Republic troopers. Just a pity that TOR isn't as popular as OT or it would've been hugely successful.

    Birchalls have a bunch of older licenced sets going for between 20 & 30% off: LOTR, Hobbit, TMNT & Superheroes. Stack of Uruk Hai Army sets for $42 each.

    There's a number of secrets/surprises that are spoiled if you watch the movies in a certain order. If you watch the OT you know before watching the PT: Anakin will become Darth Vader, Obi-Wan & Yoda will survive but no other jedi, Palpatine is a Sith Lord, dead jedi can come back as ghosts, Anakin has kids, the clones become the "enemy", the Republic will fail... If you watch the PT first, before watching the OT you know: Luke & Leia are siblings, who Obi-Wan & Yoda are, Anakin is Darth Vader, I am your father, force lightning, R2D2 & C3PO have been to Tatooine before and know Obi-Wan... I first saw them all out of order. VI, IV, I, II, III, V. Weirdest thing of all of that is that I saw Spaceballs before any of them. You've gotta watch it after the OT, really.
