  1. General Klein's first name isn't Calvin by any chance, is it? Nice work. I look forward to seing more from this theme. Well developed backstory, too.
  2. I was gonna pick this up from TRU yesterday, but it wasn't in stock. |-/ I've looked in places a few times expecting to find it, but to no avail. I've decided to just give up looking and order it from S@H. Unfortunately that means waiting a week, by which time my summer hols will probably have ended.
  3. Or Jadarite if you feel like using the 'real' thing.
  4. I found it in Woolies today for
  5. Went to GAME today and picked up the LSW 'Let the Wookie win' T-Shirt (along with an Autobot one). I couldn't get the other two, they didn't have my size. I've not worn it yet, but it's very cool. I'm looking forward to wearoing it to college when I start, see what people say. :-D And in the next few days, I'll be sending off a S@H order for the Bat-Tank and a couple of other things. I was going to get it in TRU yesterday, but they still haven't got it in. :'-(
  6. Nope, but I think I'd rather have Magmatron. I went to TRU as I said I would yesterday. No deluxes though. They had some of the G1 reissues though- Skywarp, Prowl, Red Alert, Tracks, Inferno and Soundwave (all
  7. If they do Davros right (and I mean really right, like Genesis right) then that should be fantastic. Davros is definitely one of the cooler characters. The rumour is that he'll be played by Sir Ben Kingsley. Yep, Ghandi as creator of the Daleks... Nope, that's been quashed. He's doing the whole series. Apparantly. That'll be good, its good to acknowledge history (or should that be time as a whole? ;-) ). You know why they've picked Davison don't you? Because he's the only one who hasn't aged. Caan. He's mentioned it a few times before actually. So, here's what we definitely know. Agatha Christie will be the 'celebrity historical,' Donna will be back, Martha will be back around the midpoint of the series (with a few Torchwood appearances in the meantime), the Ood will return, but on their own planet I think I heard. We know another 'icon' will be back (probably Davros). I think it was said that the Master wouldn't be back in Series four, but might return later...
  8. I read the BW tpb the other month, I think I said. I thought it was good too. The Cybertronian designs are a marvel to behold, as always. Manterror was a pretty clever translation, and Magmatron just looks *wub* Good, and your welcome Thrawn. EDIT: Look here. 16th October release date? Seems a little early to me, but hey if it's true I'm not complaining.
  9. Yeah, those're what I meant earlier. Pretty cool, in a nerdy-geeky sort of way. :-P I couldn't remember the site, so didn't post it.
  10. Okay, so I picked up my results this morning, then enrolled at college. That was, to be honest, the most successful part of the day. Lets take a look at my previous list: WHSmith- yep, got my comic. Very good, btw. Sainsburys- had Wreckage, Scorponok and a few FABs, none of which I'm bothered about. Wilkinsons, Tesco, Home Bargains and TK Maxx had nothing TF-wise at all. I wsa thinking about getting #7902 for MOCing purposes, but the only one they had was in a ripped box. TK Maxx also had some Captain Scarlet/Thunderbirds/etc stuff I may go back for later. Woolworths had nothing of interest as usual. But they are finally getting round to stocking new Lego. They had two (yeah, two!) MM sets and the TIE Crawler. Didn't get any though. Still, at least I got my comic, and (if I do say so myself) excellent GCSE results. Oh, and lunch, I bought lunch. Hope yours are okay Thrawn. ;-)
  11. Thanks.
  12. I agree, they do look pretty nice, but they're a bit on the steep side price-wise.
  13. I came across this the other day. They also do a selection of necklaces, bracelets and earrings (including a 1x1 plate). I'm not really a jewellery guy, but I have to say this is pretty cool.
  14. Lay Down- The Strawbs I heard it on a repeat of the BBCs Life On Mars last week, and now I've found it. Such a great song.
  15. Congratulations. We're not doing too brilliantly here in the UK, but I think that's more a case of 'they were never here in the first place' than 'they've all gone.' I went into one Woolies yesterday and they had about four Real Gear figures (didn't look which), Prime Voice Changer and about 10 Legends Ratchets. To be honest, I think he's got a bit of a point. Why shouldn't people be able to watch in whichever format they choose, as opposed to whichever is forced upon them. Okay, maybe he's not going about it the right way, but still. EDIT: Well, that was quick...
  16. Thanks on both counts. It's a church hall as well, so it's not only a mess at the back, but it's dark and warm too. And we've got these black t-shirts (with our names on ;-) ) which only serve to make me even hotter. There're so many wires we actually forgot to plug in the speakers the other day :-| .
  17. Okay, so as anyone who's read my 'Snapshots part 1' thread can attest to, I'm involved in an amateur pantomime from a tech perspective. After having built my vig, I thought 'what about the rest of the cast. Why can't they get a look in?' So I set to work building this, a Lego (well, duh) version of the stage, and got in as many of the characters as I could. The panto's called 'when pantomimes collide' and fatures a mix of characters from different pantos in a quasi-original script. So if some of the characters seem a little out of place, then it's intentional. Obviously though, some characters couldn't be featured, either because I didn't have room or didn't have the right pieces to make a passable representation of either them or their costume/character. So, the 7 dwarves, the evil queen, the trainee fairy and frankenstein aren't featured. The 'scenes' being re-enacted here are all based on actual scenes from the panto. From left to right are: The Fairy providing a narration, The Genie appearing to Aladdin and Peter Pan. Widow Twanky should be here too, but he/she's... ...fighting a wolf, Snow White singing her solo, Abanaza sneaking across the stage, and the Witch giving a narration. Now the characters. You know, it's funny how much these representations actually look like the real people they're supposed to be. Obviously you'll have to take my word for that, though. Abanaza Aladdin (with his magical lamp) Fairy (the real costume doesn't have wings, but I thought that she needed some way to fly) Genie (love the smoke swirl) Peter Pan Snow White Widow Twanky (probably my favourite) Witch Wolf And some shots of the lights: And finally, the audience running joke and mainstay of panto, the pie! Gallery (when public) I've not shown it to the cast of the panto yet, but I may take some pictures along to the next rehersal to see what they think. Comment, questions and constructive criticisms welcome. :-)
  18. I've decided to start a new vig series 'snapshots' (as you may have guessed by the title), and here is the first entry. All the vigs in the series will look at moments of my life now, some seriously, some humorously. Here's the first, Wires. I'm invovlved in an amateur pantomime (yes, I know it's the wrong time of year for panto, but that's not up to me), doing all the tech stuff. I started just doing the lights, then that grew and I'm now doing lights, sound and camera. Now that leaves a lot of wires all over the place, and I mean all over the place. The 'tech table' is a mess. There's the table and a rather hefty chair, a main sound-thing, the actual CD player, the CDs, a stand for my script, an amp with headphones so backstage can talk to me, a lighting board, a disco light-thing and the camera on a tripod. That's a lot of stuff... Music stand, amp and lighting board Gallery (when public). More to come soon! I might do one for GCSE results day tomorrow... Comment, questions and constructive criticisms welcome. :-)
  19. To be honest, I don't think anyone really knows why VW campers are so great, but everyone thinks they are nonetheless. :-D You're quite welcome. :-)
  20. I'm nipping into town on Thursday after I get my GCSE results, so I might take a peek then. So that's... WHSmith for my Fantastic Four Comic Sainsbury's (a bit out of the way but never mind) for Movies TFs Wilkinsons on the off-chance that they've got some Classics or Titaniums in (even though they didn't the other day) Woolworths in case they've got round to getting some good TF stock in (as opposed to Real Gear Wave 1, Legends Wave 1 and Classics Jetfire) Tesco to see if they've actually bothered to get the Movie figures, Home Bargains and TK Maxx (also out of the way) on the off-chance. Well, you never know. Lunch... gotta eat. ;-) Sigh... It's gonna be a long day. And I probably won't find anything... |-/ Then on Friday I'm off to my grandmas, so I'll see if I can persuade my dad to let me call in at TRU on the way back. EDIT: It would seem the HD-DVD only decision has far-reaching implications: Bay Says 'no' to TF2 because of the decision not to relese the Movie on all HD formats. So that means we need a new guy to helm TF2, doesn't it?
  21. Actually, Batman was blue for quite a while. The cape and cowl were black for his first appearance, then around the sixties it started to change and the cowl became blue with black highlights and the yellow oval appeared. Then the 70s Batman was blue with the yellow oval (not represented in the set) and this became the classic 'old style' Bat-suit. Then the whole Bat-suit became black for the films, and around 1999-2000 the cape and cowl became black in the comics and the yellow oval disappeared. Save for a few appearances by the ble Bat (Batman & Son, JLA #0) the costume is predominntly coloured black. I have to say, nice as the blue Bat-suit is, I think I prefer the black cape and cowl with the grey suit. Anyway, onto the set. I'm definitely getting this, once I can actually find it in the shops that is. If not, I'll just order it from S@H. I'd imagine the treads would be immensely boring to assemble. There'd better be something good on TV then. The 'hideout' will have to go, but I'm sure I can find a use for the pieces in my Batcave, which'll have to be changed again to accomodate the two new Bat-vehicles. The gun on the tank will probably go too, and the tank will function more as a heavy Batmobile. The bike will lose it's guns, as I love the dirt bike and want to be able to see it in all it's glory. And that Bane fig is *wub*
  22. I think the trans-orange lights are okay, they're probably indicators. But I agree with you on the other lights. I've seen this before as well, but that doesn't matter. It's a cool MOC, detailed yet not over-complicated, and good photoshopping to boot. And, as anyone who's been reading the '2008 sets' thread will attest, this is not a real set. :-P
  23. I might see if I can find some cheap tuppaware containers (I'm not paying a fortune for them) and move some of the pieces in small tubs, boxes or bags into them (in bags) to free up some space and boxes, which would let me sort other pieces. But until then, I'm quite happy with my sorting. I think I should probably start to label the boxes and stuff, or perhaps make a list of the types of pieces that've been sorted, and aren't stored in the 'other piece' tubs by colour. I sometimes find myself forgetting that pieces have been sorted or where they've been sorted. I'll be searching for a piece and suddenly think "hang on, it's in box x." Ice-cream and margarine boxes are a good idea, but my dad tends to either take them to use in the garden before I can get my hands on them, or throw them away.
  24. This is quite nice. This certainly looks more Ratchet-y, but I think I actually prefer the finished design as Ratchet. But it's a good, solid design, and could, as you say, work as Inferno with a few tweaks, or maybe a bulked-up Red Alert. Well, to be honest, the Seekers never really looked that intimidating in G1. I suppose that fitted with the original designs though, and it could be interpretted as an ironic look at his charater- he thinks he's a threat to Megs, but really he's more of an annoyance. Trouble is, forcing the newest technology is a stupid idea, especially if it's essentially the same as the old one. I mean, take Digital TV here in the UK. That's fine, as it's better picture quality, more channels, etc. And the analogue signals will begin top be turned off starting next year in some areas. But HD-DVDs and HD-TV? Well, to be honest they're almost the same as normal DVDs and normal TVs, only a better picture quality. You don't really get anything new out of them. It actually took me a couple of years befire I caught up with DVD and bought a (fairly cheap) DVD player. To be honest, I don't really want to buy an HD-DVD player and TV, and have all the DVDs I own now made redundant.
