:-D Star Wars Geek. Sadly (and the same goes for comics geeks), it's often true...

Sorry to get involved, but yes, as I understood it too, Holodoc seemed to be talking about his avatar. He sort of knew what was meant by sigfig, but took it as figure in the signature here on the forum. So he pointed to the fig in his avatar, which is his sigfig anyway. I'm guessing he didn't realise that 'sigfig' was the official unofficial term. Trying my best not to sound like an amateur Mod her, but perhaps we should just get back to showing off our sigfigs? ;-)

Staunch; a Resolution medium transport on a recon mission
Brainbox replied to Siegfried's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Very nice, especially considering it was made with a limited array of parts. In fact, I think I like it more because of that. If it was just an ordinar MOC, I probably wouldn't be as sure about it. Definitely a tough-looking sci-fi style crew. The cockpit is nice and different, and the whol ship looks as streamlined as it could with the aforementioned cockpit. I liked it when I first saw it, and I like it now. And, you know, it reminds me just a little of the VTOL Skynet Terminator from Terminator 3. Probably the engines on the ends of the wings. The drop pod is pretty cool. Would it be right to assume it sort of glides/floats down to the surface on some sort of anti-gravity-spacey-thing? And it's always good to see red hair, I like red hair (unfortunately you don't see many people with it now). *wub* -
Yesterday, I went to Skipton for a look around, and failed to acquire anything in the way of purchases except a birthday card for one of my friends. Today, I'm having a day at home, as the next few days will all be tied up with this amateur panto I'm involved in (see a MOC version here on EB. Please comment, no-one's actually done so :'-( ). We've got a taster performance and dress-rehersal tomorrow, Friday is the actual performance, and we're there all day for last minute rehersal, then Saturday is an afternoon performance for some Guides and Scouts apparantly. Oh, and when I say all day Friday, I mean all day Friday. We're starting at 12:00, having tea there, the performance starts at 7:00 and finishes at 8:30. Sigh, that's gonna be a long day. Sadly, that means I may not have time for either my Lego or EB in the net few days :'-( .

My sig-fig? Nice and simple, it's a direct-to-Lego version of me. No fancy extras, no backstory, no 'special character' just a minifig version of me.

Oh wow, nice wheelie bin. Simple, yet effective, and definitely recognisable as to what it is.

Ooh, I like the Airport Fire Engine. I've always been a fan of Fire Engines (but never actually built one funnily enough), and this one's very nice. I remember the official Lego Airport Fire Truck back in '95/96 and always liked it. The rocket transport is nice and simple, and definitely reminds me a little of the official one from around the same time as the original AFT. The bulldozer and hauler are nice too, but not, I think, as nice as the others.

Nice TARDIS but the Dalek's a little big. Although that does seems to be a frequent problem amongst Lego Daleks. I managed to build one in scale though. You know, that torso of the Doctor's would probably look better on the Eighth Doctor (as seen in his later DWM comic appearances), but since you are working with LDD, I suppose you use what you've got.

Review: 7787 Batman - Bat Tank: The Riddler and Bane's Hideout

Finally sent off my order yesterday. My Bat-Tank (along with Batcopter and a few other things) should be arriving sometime next week. Yes! -
2008 Exclusives turn up on "Replacement parts" page
Brainbox replied to sam89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Or a very ingenious theif... I agree with most people, the two town sets will no doubt be modular. It would appear there're two female figs in the first one, judging by the fact that there're two ponytail hairpieces. Notice how ther're six heads and six legs, but only three torsos, and about eight different head accessories. The Green Grocers (judging by the first page at least) would seem to have a nice selection of Dark Green and Dark Tan pieces. That's nice. The others, I can't really comment on, as I've not seen the parts lists. Grievous should be interesting, the Death Star is intriguing, and the Taj Mahal opens up a whole world (literally) of possibilities for other building sculptures. Big Ben anyone? And VW Beetles are just great anyway, so it'll be good to see what this is like. -
I've just, right now, got back from the post box, having sent off my S@H order. I decided I would hold off my order until after I'd seen whether I could get the sets I wanted in Toymaster/Toyworld/Toystore in Skipton. Having failed to aquire any of them there, I've just posted my order. So, my... -Bat-Tank -Batcopter -MX-11 Astro Fighter -Crossbow Attack -2007 Advent Calendar ... should be arriving sometime mid-next-week. Unfortunately, they'll overshoot the end of the summer hols a bit, but never mind. Here's hoping they arrive on the Friday night, then I've got the whole weekend to enjoy them (except the Advent Calendar, which I'm saving till Christmas). If they arive on, say, Wednesday, I've got College the day after, so I may not have time to build all the sets in one go like I want to. Unfortunately, that doesn't leave anyone much to get me for my birthday. They're all the sets I really want.

Whacky (or rather, whacking) machines, eh? Hinckley will be pleased...

As do I. I think there might be a problem with both BS and Maj. Open either, and it says that 'Error 504 (Gateway Timeout)' thing. The pics will no doubt be back when BS and Maj get back up. -
Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...
Brainbox replied to The Kid's topic in Culture & Multimedia
You'd think so wouldn't you? But a few years ago, for the 40th anniversary, Radio Times did a special pullout celebration. This was before the new (Ninth) Doctor was announced, and Alan Rickman was voted as one of the top choices. I forget who the others were (I think Anthony Head may have been there), but I'll have a look later, see if I can find it. -

Actually, Riddler's hair is correct being black. It's just that sometimes it gets 'mis-coloured' as brown. It's only really been red in Batman Forever, when he was played by Jim Carrey. His hair was black for his classic appearances, but yes, modern uses tend to give him brown hair (Hush, for example). -

I've seen that before. Notice that the 'art' in 'department' is a slightly different colour. Hmm... could be just a place to display the concept art from the series'. -
*Drool...* That looks pretty cool. What do I mean 'pretty cool'? It looks brilliant! Bet it's still not true mini-fig scale though... :-P

Don't forget his question mark cane. -
Hear hear! Lego is all about creativity, and that creativity is effectively destroyed by making a piece to fit, as opposed to using your initiative and going about it using what you've got. Besides, nce you've customised something, you can't get it back. How awful would it be to need one piece to finish a really cool MOC, and find you've sliced-and-diced your only one :-X .

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...

I dunno, there're only so many 'types' of episode really, so it's inevitable that formulae will be repeated. As far as 'returning enemy' goes, I quite like that. It gives the programme a fluid feel, whether something ties in to a classic episode, or one from the previous year. Unless, of course, it's a stupid returning baddie, like, say, the Slitheen. It depends who the 'celebrity' is. If it's someone really obscure, it could suffer from being boring, as absolutely no-one has any foreknowledge about the character so all that has to be explained. Use Shakespeare or Dickens, and (most) people have heard of them. And, let's face it, what's the point of having a time machine if you only go to the future or the present? Historicals have always been, are, and always will be. Thankfully they're 'historicals with aliens' as opposed to the 'educational historicals' when the series was born (like The Romans, Marco Polo or The Aztecs). I like them. They reveal a teaser, but not too much, keeping our appetites whetted for the finale. And 'Mr Saxon' was less prominent this year. Bear in mind that series archs have been done before, like The Key to Time series and the Trial of a Time Lord series. I like archs anyway (IDWs Transformers springs to mind), and the ones here are prime examples. Plus it gives the impression that time is all interconnected, and everything causes or leads to everything else. -
Ha, nice find. I've not seen these before, but they're cool. But I can't seem to get around the fact that Chewie (unfortunately) reminds me of a Pepperami...
