I only own one Castle set (so far), Crossbow Attack. It arrived the other day with my S@H order. I have to say, I really like the new-style Skellie, and my dad thought that together with the horse it was great. It's good to see the old(er) helmets cropping up again, albeit in new chrome-ish colour. All the sets seem to have nice numbers of figures, but sadly there're no army building minifig packs (roll on next year's Impulse line). The new Castle seems sort of quasi-classic, harkening back to the Castle sets of old, but with a distinctively modern feel. My only gripe is the odd availability of the sets here in the UK. I know it's not technically about the sets themselves, but I've found them nigh on impossible to find. TRU, Woolies, Toymaster all had nothing, Argos have got three 'exclusive' sets, but the rest only seem to be available through S@H.

That really makes no difference here, all Lego costs more than it perhaps should. Tank Engine. Thomas the Tank Engine. Sorry, but I loved that show as a youngster, and can't bear to see it misnamed. We got Riddler and Scarecrow again this year, meaning only one new villain. It was a slight over-exaggeration. I dunno, Star Wars is pretty popular. Even though I've not bought any of the sets this year, I'll be sad to see it go. As the grandaddy of licence sets, it'll be a sad day when it dies.

Happy Birthday from me too. You know, it's my friends birthday today as well, so happy birthday to her too.

Very nice! That Clickits piece is another fine example of the 'use of pieces in different ways' idea that I quite like.

Four-wide Optimus Prime that transforms in one piece!

There's another, different, one here. No video this time though. And if it's Mcro Transformers you want, see mine here here. More to come soon. Sorry, I thought I'd just hijack this thread... :-P -
Yeah me too. I now own two! Strange they were in at all actually. I thought the offer ended about a month ago. I've been very good with my Advent Calendar, it's staying closed till Dcember 1st, so no review unfortunately. Sorry. Still, I suppose someone else can have that honour. I've built the Batcopter, Crossbow Attack (my dad liked the skeleton horse) and MX-11. The Bat-Tank I'm off to build now.

Yeaterday my latest Lego S@H order arrived, so I built some of that (Batcopter, Crossbow Attack and MM MX-11). The Advent Calendar is being saved till Christmas. Now I'm off to build the Bat-Tank. I also got a free Icecube tray, which is odd as the offer (get one if you spend over

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...

'Apparantly' being the key word. Bear in mind that nothing's official till the BBC makes the anouncement. -
I needed to ask for the stickers from my Batboat last year. I think they arrived only three or four days after I placed the request. I was actually a little surprised they arrived as fast as they did.

The game's apparantly coming out in Summer, so yeah, summer releases for sets would probably be a safe bet. And of course, the game means more new characters (Harley, green Ivy, Jim Gordon, etc) might make their way into brick-form.

Well, having none of either, this is gonna be interesting. Songebob, well, I guess it's kinda cute, and has some appeal. I wouldn't have chosen to do it, and I'd never have thought it would be done. But I think there's a certain degree of potential. Harry Potter was a good idea in theory, but not so much in practice. In other words, it could perhaps have been done better than it was. Different character like Luna ( *wub* ), or teachers, and more sensible Hogwarts add-ons might've been useful. I think I actually regret a little never having actually owned an HP set.

You know the whole build-a-sig-fig-of-your-friend idea? Well I tried that a little with my friends. I wasn't trying to get them to like my hobby, just appreciate what I can do with it. And it worked a little, they liked that I'd taken the time to think of them in what I do. And there was the panto MOC I made recently, starring in-character versions of some of the people involved. I never got to show them though :'-( . I didn't really fancy taking the whole MOC to a rehersal, and kept forgetting to take a few photos in. Oh well, I'll probably update it when we start the next one. Just thought I'd share that with you, even though it's not quite the original 'problem.'

Today was my first day at collge. Nothing much special happened. That's it. Although, I got my proper timetable at the end of the day, and it would seem General Studies and Tutorial haven't actually been timetabled... but are listed at the bottom of the page as subjects which haven't been timetabled! *wacko* And my Critical Studies entry has no tutor name or room number on it, so I've no idea where I'm supposed to go! I mean, it's an okay timetable, apart from the stuff that isn't. :-P

I might do the same after mine. Or perhaps ask for him for my birthday. There seemed to be quite a few in TRU the other week, so I'm guessing they'll be fairly easy to find. In other news, I wore my Autobot T-Shirt today for my first day at college. Trouble is, no-one recognised it :-| (well, except one person in a long black trenchcoat and big clumpy boots who did a bizarre little dance at it's "awesomeness"). Sigh, some people just don't appreciate style when they see it. :-D Tomorrow I'll be wearing my 'Let the Wookie Win' LSW T-Shirt, see if a few more people bat an eyelid.

Oh sure, yeah. I admire custom minifigs as much as the next person. But they're just not something I'd try. I suppose each to his own, and what you do with your collection is your business, though.

I'm okay with licenses, as long as they're good ones. I mean, look at Batman and Star Wars. How cool is it to be able to have an official representation of your favourite character, or vehicle? And licenses fuel the imagination as much as non-license themes do, but in a slightly different way. Licenses can serve as an inroad to creative building as people build scenery or whatever to fit with what they've got. Plus, licenses can be a great way of pulling in new customers, which can only serve to make Lego even more popular. At least, that's the theory. But, I would disagree with licenses if they went too far, and started doing stupid stuff. For examnple, if Lego started a Casualty (UKers will know what I mean) license, it'd be a complete waste of time. So, yeah, keep licenses, as long as they're kept good.

But, like I said, it's kind of cheating isn't it? If a piece you'd really like doesn't exist, find a way of doing it with what actually got. Improvise, improvise, improvise.

I thought it was obvious, but yeah panto is pantomime. It might be a British slang thing. Yesterday's was less good than Friday night's. The audience were less enthusiastic, so it just didn't feel quite as good. Although there was one scene (the cave scene) where Twanky was sat so close to the edge of the handy-little-bench that when the wolf lept up, the bench flew up in the air, and Twanky rolled of the other end. That shouldn't have happened but it was funny nonetheless. Today I'm nipping into town, as I've just realised I don't have quite as much paper sa I thought for my first day at College tomorrow.

I think TRU in the UK might've had this as well. If not, it was something very similar.

Shadow Stormtroopers, or sometimes Blackhole Stormtroopers because of their boss Agent Blackhole.

If it's a Batplane it should have room for passengers. The Batwing is always (or at least should be) a single-seat plane, the Batplane is generally larger.

Today I had the longest panto rehersal ever, then the actual performance. I went really well, the audience were all good sports, the 'Comedy Decorating Scene' was hilarious, as were Widow Twanky (the ol' panto dame) and the 'secret scene' that the cast (myself included) didn't really know about. And it was all fine from a tech perspective. Tomorrow is an afternoon performance.
-
Thanks everyone! I'm doing all the tech stuff. Lights, camera, sound (and here you thought I was gonna say 'action' ;-) ). I can't feature myself in this MOC, as Snow White's nicked my sigfig's hair. :-D In fact I've just got back. It went really well, the audience joined in at all the right times, making the whole thing really enjoyable. I've gained even more toys to play with in 'tech corner', so many in fact, that I have to crawl under all the wires just to get to my seat! The slapstick 'Comedy Decorating Sequence' got lots of laughs, as did Widow Twanky (ah, who else?). Now we've got to do it all again tomorrow afternoon.

2008 Exclusives turn up on "Replacement parts" page
Brainbox replied to sam89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yeah, I was thinking of that too. Does that mean that the other cars there could be future possibilities? You could MOD the Aston Martin into the 'Bondmobile'. Actually, do I remember a vote or something as to which car would be made 'official' or am I just making that up?
