Yeah, I realised that after I 'calmed down.' I foolishly skimmed through the aricle, thought "arrgh!" then re-read it and was really no better off having done so. I mean, it's not as if the article really makes it absolutely clear is it? I can understand where all the confusion's coming from.

That's what I mean. It'd be silly to just release the Movie on HD-DVD, as not ev4eryone has an HD player/TV. Looking around the TF fanbases, interpretations seem a little divided. Initially people took it tio mean 'no DVD, just HD-DVD' but now some people think it's more of a 'DVD as normal, but HD-DVD is the only High-Definition format that will be available' i.e. no Blu-Ray. Still, as long as it's option 2, it doesn't bother me.

The toy design was pretty close there. I mean, they're all quite close, but Arcee perhaps more so than the others. So, I checked in the other Wilkinson's near me, and after a rather extensive found... absolutely nothing. Again. Sigh... I felt I should just point out my Micro Transformers thread here on EB. You know, since it's TF related. Be sure to tell me what you think. :-) Look at this! What the hell?! What about all those people (me included) who don't have an HD-DVD player? I don't care if they're cheap, frankly! Or does it mean that the only HD format will be HD-DVD, as opposed to say blu-ray? *wacko*

Thanks! It's funny you should mention those. Grimlock, Bumblebee and Ironhide were a few of the ones I made last time. Grimlock is probably on the to-do list, I'm working on modifying my original Ratchet and Ironhide designs to represent the new IDW versions. And Jazz, well, sure why not.

Thanks. I might see if I can get round to making Skywarp and Thundercracker as well (using the same design), and have a group of Seekers. And maybe Sunstorm too.

I actually first made these years ago, then broke them up. Since then, I've built/rebuilt different characters at different times, all sticking to the original design idea. Now that I'm a BS user, I felt it was time to redo them, so without further ado I present Optimus Prime, Megatron and Starscream, perhaps the three most well-known TFs. Try and judge them on what they are, not what they aren't. They are micro-scale, so as such aren't incredibly detailed. But thay are recogniseable. The body design is nice and simple, and looks both stubby and interesting at the same time. It allows room for 'customisation' of characters as well. The transformations are very much 'Lego-formers' style, with some pieces often being left over in one or both modes. Optimus Prime As leader of the Autobots and the quintessential Transformer, Prime was really the only logical choice for the first character to be built. Plus, he was one of the ones I first worked out all those years ago. Now, the robot isn't perhaps particularly interesting, and frankly nither is the vehicle, but it's clearly Prime. The trailer is articulated, giving the illusion of 'cornering.' All the pieces end up being used somewhere, but not necessarily where they came from. The inside of the trailer houses pieces for use on either the trailer base or the main Prime robot. The red 1x1s with 'extras' are added to Prime, and the 2x2 studdless plate from the roof of the cab and trailer joint from Prime are added to the trailer. I decided to use a chrome piece for Prime's faceplate, but I don't really know why. It was sort of lying round and I thought it looked good. Megatron The next obvious choice was Megatron, Decepticon leader. Again, this is an old design. And, of course, Megatron transforms into his gun mode. There're a lot of pieces left here so... ... I built a (slightly rubbish) stand/turret. Starscream This one is a new design. I took a departure from the regular body design in order to accentuate the thinner, streamlined bdoy of the Seekers. It's also my favourite ;-) . Back view Close up of arm Full piece-count Can you see why it's my favourite? Character comparison Comparison with a mini-fig (thanks Brainbox ;-) ): More TFs will follow. Last time I made these, I made a Bruticus, and actually made some slightly rubbish instructions. But i can follow them. Or at least I could if I could find them. So, Bruticus may be along, if I can find them. Comments, questions and constructive criticisms welcome. :-) Full Gallery

Figured this should go here. Some new pics have cropped up here (scroll down a bit). They look to be 'on-set' photos, but I have to say that The Joker looks interesting. A little bit... mad. And it's good to see he's got a purple suit.

I've tried to explain this in numerous threads before, but it always seems to come out as nonsense. Wewll, here we go. Minifig pieces go in one set of drawer-things (I'm okay so far ;-) ). Bley and New Brown pieces go in a box or one of a few (official parts-) bags in the box. Plates of 2x8 and greater go in a box. Animal pieces go in a tub. A box for all normal slopes. That means everthing except curves and 1x1 slopes. Other small, key, useful or major pieces go in an assortment of boxes, tubs, etc including some shoeboxes with dividers, two City Advent Calender trays (neat idea, huh?), a tower of small plastic drawers and a selection of other useful boxes that either go in my desk or on the floor beside my desk. The pieces here range from stuff like 1x4s and 1x1s to small ball-joints and levers. There's even a special drawer for 'proper chrome' and GITD. A box for wheels and stuff. Everything else is done by colour. Plus a wallet for sticker sheets. This is something I've only started recently. Well, it makes sense to me!

Help me, I'm in my dark ages!
Brainbox replied to Western Forever's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Or perhaps pool ideas for a while, then have a mammoth building day, and build/MOC/MOD everything in one go. Although sometimes a little bit of geekiness (I believe the word 'quirky' was used earlier) can help you to fit in. You want to fit in, but be just that little bit different. No, I've not been getting that much Lego for Christmas/birthdays the past few years. Perhaps that's because my parents have other ideas, perhaps it's because they wouldn't know which sets to buy, perhaps they secretly disapprove, I don't know. But I tend not to get Lego as presents, rather have to buy it myself. I still ask though... That said, however, both my mum and dad look through my S@H catalogue after me when it arrives. -

Oh, definitely. I love overarching storylines anyway, and this is an other superb example. I recently bought Infiltration, Escalation, Stormbringer and Spotlights volume 1 from Manchester, and they're all great. Nice art, cool new designs (especially Ratchet and Prowl), the aforementioned arch, a few nice in-jokes and good choice of characters. I'm looking forward to Spotlights volume 2 being released as a Trade, sometime after Ramjet in November, I think. And, of course, it's always good to see more British writers in the comics industry. I might also pick up the BW stuff if I find them, and I'll see if I can borrow the Movie stuff from the library, as I'm not as bothered by those, but they'll be nice to read. On a side note, I finally came across Voyager Ironhide and Starscream, in Southport M&S of all places! Didn't buy them, just thought I'd point it out. But, Southport Woolworths (not exactly a small one), had even less TF stuff than the two (often slightly rubbish) near me. They didn't have much to speak of in the way of Lego either. EDIT: I forgot to say, following this story (and a few other, similar reports), I stopped in to the one in Burnley yesterday. You know I did really well, as they had... absolutely nothing TF-wise. Not one thing. Sigh... Still, there's another one near me, I might see if I can call in, and I'll keep checking back. But if there's any Titaniums or Classics that anyone wants or found hard to get then I suggest you check your local shop(s). You never know.

I love Shockwave, he's just such a great character. "The Transformers are all dead!" Ooh... He isn't doing so bad in IDW. Apart from the whole 'trapped in a volcano with the Dynobots for millions of years, only to be excavated by a sinister organisation called Skywatch" thing. But there's a great bit in his Spotlight issue where he turns off his higher functions to become a primal instinct being in order to better understand the Dynobots' fighting technques. He turns his higher functions back on, and decides that this primal action warrents further investigation some other time. He's being portrayed as someone who just steps back, sees the big picture, and acts upon it. DW (I haven't read it) just had him as the cause of every problem.

Don't forget the Android's Dungeon and Comic Book Guy. He is, quite possibly, my favourite character. I mean, come on, he was written for people like me!
-
Throw in Shockwave, and you've got a nice dichotomy. Megs rules through fear, Screamer's power-crazed, and Shockwave believes he should rule, simply because it's the logical answer. And then there's Soundwave, playing loyal lieutenant but secretly collecting any dirt he can dig up, on anyone.
-
I wouldn't say it was OTT, it just sounded a bit... odd coming from Prime. He just doesn't really have a 'my bad' voice, if you know what I mean.
-
Plus, if you did that, you could either do it seriously, or as something like 'Police Sqaud'. These could be quite good. I don't really mind if they're 'serious' like the Bionicle films (which I didn't mind, even though my friends had a few choice words about my liking of them) or whether they've got a bit of humour like the LSW games. Either way, it's Lego, and it's a film. It's a Lego film. *y*

Very nice. I really like the crawler. Bulky, yet somehow sleek. And it's clearly a completely new model, but there're definitely bits of the old model in it. I too removed the launcher from mine, but I instead filled in the front and made a placement for the diving thing that was there already. But now I've seen yours, I may have to MOD mine a little more than just that.
-
Thanks. :-D Thanks. I don't actually own any hats, so this seemed like the logical choice.
-
It's those little things that I really like. The little jokes, the background stuff, the in-jokes, that sort of thing. And Spider-Pig was brilliant. My sister says here friends keep singing it. I wouldn't know about mine, I've not seen them for weeks... |-/

Thanks. I wasn't planning on making any more. They're the only Tiny Turbo sets I own, I don't have any of the playsets or the year 3 sets. It was really just a bit of fun to, um, break up the breaking up. Thanks though. :-)
-
Okay, so I decided today to add my Tiny Turbo models to the 'available' parts selection, ie. dismantle them. But then I thought "if I'm going to take them apart, why not have some fun?" So I came up with The Lucky Draw Tiny Turbo Combo-model Challenge. Catchy, no? ;-) So, I wrote the set numbers on pieces of paper and proceeded to draw them from a hat. Also of interest on my desk is Transformers: Infiltration, a Transformers WWII project I'm working on, a glass of water on a Simpsons coaster, my whack-a-fig entry and my space fighter contest entry from a few months ago. X-D I finally found the macro function on my camera, so the photos are better than usual. Not that they're normally bad, these are just better. All STAMPS were removed, but all other stickers were kept intact on their respective pieces. 1 The first numbers out of the hat were 8655 and 8642. And here's the result: The model used all the pieces except 5. Gallery 2 The next two numbers picked were 8657 and 8643. Result: A few more pieces left this time. Gallery 3 The third selection gave me 8658 and 8656 to work with. Which yielded this: Not too many pieces left again. Gallery 4 That left 8641 and 8644. I have to say, I think this one is probably my favourite, I'm just not sure why. :-D For some reason I really like this picture. ;-) Leftover pieces. Gallery Overview All remaining pieces. So, overally, a successful challenge, that made dissassembling a model (or, rather, series of models) even more fun than it already was. Try it sometime. Full gallery. Comment, criticisms and questions welcome. :-)

What's the point of that? I've come across the 'volumes' in libraries before (never bothered with them), but it seems a bit odd to not have a 'complete set.' I mean, it was pretty popular. Although I suppose it took a while for a complete G1 box-set to be released, as compared to the 'season' box-sets. Really? I must've missed that. Not like me.
