  1. If Brother Eye and the Court of Owls beat them out, there is absolutely no telling anymore. There's no pattern to any of it anymore, so somewhere between next winter and the end of time and space?
  2. As would the outlaw and the cowgirl. Most of those were just from memory or a quick glance at Bricklink, though; I don't exactly have an encyclopedic memory of the CMF line
  3. I just mean for the sake of a pre-order exclusive. Using most of the same prints as the nonexclusive version kinda sucks the value out of pre-ordering. Deathstroke, though, really did have the same costume in pretty much every appearance in comics up until his mask became a helmet. There aren't a lot of Deathstroke designs that wouldn't need the helmet mold, unless they pulled from sources outside the comics, save for his early New 52 appearance, and giving us a figure that's only slightly different from the retail version as an exclusive of this scale would be really disappointing and keep a lot of people from pre-ordering. You're absolutely right about characters like Batman and Wonder Woman, though. They've had subtle but drastic changes over time and vary a lot from artist to artist, and each one really shifts the iconography of the character in a really meaningful way. (I actually plan to write a paper on just that very thing in my Visual Communications class!)
  4. You're absolutely right about the regular line, and I definitely don't want it to go anywhere. The problem I have with it, though, is just that so many of the normal CMF figures tend to be the same sort of thing in a slight variation. Three boxers, two astronauts, two cowboys, two clowns, four aliens, a handful of guys in mascot suits with limited use. Spacing out the original designs would hopefully mean more new and creative choices, rather than the same archetypes on repeat with a couple of new ideas. I'm talking (mostly) about doing CMF lines in conjunction with a theme, like the Ninjago Movie and Batman Movie themes have been. For example, we could do a DC wave with the likes of Kingdom Come Superman or Vibe or Question, who wouldn't normally fit in a set or be a selling point to their target demographic, but would be perfectly acceptable for blind bags that draw a wider crowd and where 60% of the character choices don't really impact sales. A more practical example would be the upcoming Harry Potter line, which is said to include the likes of Lily and James Potter and the Hogwarts ghosts. I can't imagine Lego would ever make a set based on the murder of Harry's parents, and there's not a lot of places where they'd fit otherwise. A CMF line doesn't have to worry about setting like that. Plus, some themes don't lend themselves very well to a wide range of sets. For instance, Doctor Who. There aren't too many iconic locations or vehicles to pull from - basically just the TARDIS - but there are so many Doctors and companions and monsters and supporting characters that they could practically make a wave for all 13 doctors without running out of material. It would also be a great place for themes like the ones from Lego Dimensions, who might not be marketable enough (or could be too dark) to justify a line of sets, but you could easily make and sell 20 characters from to that broader audience. Goonies doesn't have a lot of set material, unless you just made one big one that would be too expensive for the casual Goonies fan, so a batch of 16 figures for the whole main cast would be a lot more affordable and accessible. It could easily become a place where Lego tests new and unusual IPs for potential full sets the same way Dimensions was, or just simply an outlet for pop culture figures. Something that would maybe be a lot easier for them: one of those two "licensed" waves could be themed after in-house IPs, like an Exo-Force or Adventurers wave that would update classic figures and maybe toy with new designs from the same vein, while testing the IPs marketability?
  5. I'd prefer more licensed series, just because the general figures seem to retread a lot of the same material over and over. Everyone knows that licensed themes have to scrap a lot of characters in order to remain affordable and marketable, and the CMF line doesn't have to deal with that as much. The more outlets for minifig distribution we have for each theme, the better the odds are that everyone will get their favorite character in minifig form.
  6. I'm starting to regret that whole Revolutionary War thing a little.. I mean, thanks to that new Tron set, we know the Iron Man helmet from the Mighty Micros figure isn't a licensed piece, so a helmeted Deathstroke is entirely possible. If they didn't do a helmet, I can't imagine what variant they would do, given his outfit didn't change much until the addition of the helmet. Unless they did him without the mask? That's still 90% an existing figure, but I don't think most people would be too bothered by that.
  7. Those minifigs are always really unexpected for better or for worse, which is partly why I'm holding off on speculation for the time being. The other part is that I'm still not convinced that this is a game entirely about the villain end of things and not just a Justice League game that has the word "villains" in the title. BUT that's not very fun of me, so I'm hoping for either Amazo or a Sinestro in his old blue costume, since it's unlikely that they could justify putting that variant in a set. Fame isn't exactly relevant in those minifig choices. (I mean, look at most-unrecognizable-version-of-Giant-Man or Plastic-Man-from-that-one-page-of-Flashpoint-where-he-killed-some-guys) I think Cyborg's only big villain right now is Grid, though, and I can't imagine him working without a new head mold. I'm like 99.99999% sure that Zebra Man is standing in for OMAC in that set. He's the only mohawked character that would make sense in a Brother Eye set. I'm curious as to who the third figure is, myself. The top of the box shows Zebra Man and two Batman figures, same for the bottom corner I think, so it must be a character whose closest visual counterpart is Batman, but there's certainly not a lot of those that seem all too plausible. Ideally I'd want it to be Mr. Terrific, but there are better preliminary figs than what they used if that was the case. As for the release date, all the catalog lists is August 2018.
  8. Oh man, I love that Brainy!! That head is surprisingly perfect for him, I really am gonna have to get that set!
  9. On the bright side, the Black Panther sets increased the head options for black women by 50%! There are now 6! ...okay, not much of a bright side, but it's something! I might even get to finish my Peek-A-Boo figure after all this time! I just saw this one on Bricklink, and it honestly looks perfect for M'Baku! It kinda makes me wish they would've made a third Black Panther set with him and Shuri, honestly!
  10. After a handful of Batmobiles and two Lex mechs, I'd say we'll get another Invisible Jet sooner or later. Technically, the jet in the Grodd set isn't even the actual Invisible Jet; at least in Lego Batman 3 it's called a glider or something. More Wonder Woman stuff is inevitable now that she's a commodity.
  11. Like I said, the Brother Eye set comes with Ace and Batman and no one else. It's pretty unlikely that we'd get Terry, unless they pass off the Beyond suit as just another Batman variant.
  12. That seems...odd. These sets are still going to be competing with Lego Batman Movie sets (although the new wave only has two sets with Batman in them) and are featuring some pretty odd villain choices. Brother Eye has only made rare, sporadic appearances lately, and the Talons are really new, but not new enough for DC to still be promoting them. Ace makes sense, judging by the new mold they made for Krypto, but the other set having two Batman figures sounds odd. I'm sure that doesn't mean two literal Bruce Wayne Batmans, but that would have to mean another character who wears that cowl, which is pretty limiting: Jean Paul Valley, Batwing, and I guess maybe Knight? Jean Paul would be a very left-field pick, especially if he's meant to sell the set in terms of minifigures, and I doubt Batwing (the character) would be in a set that contains the Batwing (the plane), especially since he's received very little attention from anyone lately. Knight is way too obscure and they'd definitely get more creative if they had "Batman, but British and medieval-themed" in a set. If it were two Bats in the Brother Eye set, I'd call Batman Beyond, but as it stands? These sets make absolutely no sense to me. If they turn out to be real, I'd definitely be excited for a Brother Eye set (I tried building my own Brother Eye a while back with no luck), but I'm still not entirely convinced. Duncan's ideas honestly sound far more plausible, save for Lincoln March (when was the last time a set not based on a movie had a suit-and-tie villain in it? I'm pretty sure that was the first Lex set, and that was for Lex Luthor.)
  13. Three (four?) more! Más y Menos Animal Girl Bombshell
  14. Thank you! I've actually been trying to make a decent Scott and Barda for awhile, too, but I can never get my hands on the right parts. I can't wait to see you've got in store for them!
  15. I just uploaded some guys that have been sitting on my shelf for a little while! Captain Atom Aquagirl (Tula) Oracle Granny Goodness Brother Blood Jericho (80's)
  16. Aw, that's great! I love him!
  17. I think in the past we don't start to hear much about the summer until early spring, so March at the earliest, most likely around May. Granted, I think leaks have been a little quicker lately, so who knows!
  18. I don't think that's an accident. Save for Lobo and Batsy, that team is all characters (or versions of characters) who are getting a big TV push. The Ray has an animated series, Vixen and Atom are on Legends, Black Canary is in Arrow, and Killer Frost is on Flash. Apart from Ray, Vixen, and Canary, they've all gotten at least spotlight episodes as well as recurring guest appearances on Justice League Action. If you look at who's showing up on tv, who's showing up in the movies, who's been in talks for shows or movies of their own, and the Rebirth lineup, you're gonna see a lot of the same names. Imaginext just rolled out a collectible figure wave made almost entirely of CW characters, and we're getting a huge batch of those characters on the LEGO side, too, and as I said, that's no accident.
  19. I'm hoping for Atom, too, but I hope they make a few changes from the movie to the figure. The red torso with blue printing doesn't look nearly as nice as it would the other way around imo. There's just too much red on him as he is right now. B'dg is a solid possibility, too, since he could plausibly be made with existing Chima parts. I know these movies are rarely indicative of the sets, but the inclusion of Doctor Fate, Plastic Man, and Zatanna make me wonder if we'll see any of them in some form in the summer wave. I'd say Ace is more certain now than ever, with this coming in tandem with the new dog mold we're getting with Krypto. This definitely proves, though, that Flash has joined the ranks of Batman and Superman in terms of characters that can sell sets, which means Kid Flash and the Rogues are more likely than ever. That sentiment matches up pretty well with DC's general mindset post-Justice League, too, so Flash fans rejoice! Judging by past work, I'd say this is entirely about spending as little money and effort as possible on new character models and locations. I mean, come on, this is still taking place in Metropolis instead of Central City, and they still haven't made Batman's color scheme match any existing Batman figure. They're not terribly concerned with aesthetics or continuity.
  20. That's a pretty cool idea for a wave, but it seems a little pie-in-the-sky. Batwoman and Hush would be really cool figures, but I doubt we'd get them both in one set without any sort of precedent (movie, comic, television, etc. emphasis). Two helicopter-based sets in one year also seems a little unlikely. Heatwave and Firefly are easy choices, but I'm not sure Red Robin and Spoiler would fit, with them totaling 5 new figures and none of them being A-listers. As much as I love them, realistically they'd be swapped out for someone like Green Lantern or Flash. (I just checked, and outside of the Mighty Micros, the Wonder Woman movie set, and the Aquaman Justice League set, this Flash/Cyborg set is the first set not to include either Batman or Superman, so it looks like the whole League can sell a set these days!) Apart from Constantine's inclusion and the price tag, that Grundy set sounds not only possible but really great! As for the Aquaman stuff, I think the villains and Aquaman outfits might get switched around, since Lego seems to like having a super affordable set with the main hero as they appear on the poster and his primary punching partner (Metropolis Showdown and Clash of Heroes).
  21. I never thought I'd get to say this, but: The Hawk and Dove hype is real! While I do think we're unlikely to see any Batman-heavy sets for at least another year (don't wanna compete with those Lego Batman Movie sets!), I think that would be an easy enough set to get made, since every one of those figures would use existing molds.
  22. Exactly! He's one of the classic sidekicks, and it's not like he's not getting any attention from outside mediums. Not only has the CW stuff been giving him spotlight, but so has Young Justice and Teen Titans Go. I'm still betting that he's the next new sidekick we see, and that it'll be sooner than later.
  23. For a more silver age era PPP (i.e., not the one with the beret), I'd go with purple arms and legs, blue hips, the Toy Story alien torso, and the new Buzz Lightyear head. This guy's changed his costume a lot more than I realized, so if you're going for a specific era, you might wanna pop a link to a reference image. As for Forbush Man, you'll have to do some compromising. I can't find any red torsos with an F on them, so either a plain red one or one of those Imperial Guard torsos seem like the next best thing. If there is a way to make a LEGO pot stay on a minifigure's head, I haven't found it, so unless anyone knows how to do that, I'd either use a backwards gray helmet or whatever near-featureless gray headgear you have laying around. The closest thing to his boots I can find are the Mickey Mouse and Mr. Incredible legs, so unless you wanna bust out the Po-Lish Remover of Na'il, you'll have to deal with the extra printing. Personally, I use the Blackbird Wolverine torso on mine, and it looks pretty alright. The muscle print might put off some people, but it's pretty ideal for the more cleavage-heavy costumes. If anyone has any good alternatives, though..!
  24. Not quite. Black Vulcan is his own character, but he was created because of licensing disputes that kept Black Lightning off of the Super Friends cartoon. The Flash has had his own sets, though, and it's clear that a lot of their character choices are being at least somewhat influenced by what's going on on tv, especially this upcoming wave. It's no coincidence that at least half of the new characters we're getting this year are prominent Arrowverse characters, and even if that doesn't sell you, Marvel's definitely done it. We got a Ghost Rider set the same year that Ghost Rider made his debut on Agents of SHIELD, and there's no way that set would've happened yet otherwise. As for Titans, all evidence points to the contrary. Both Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim and Deathstroke actor Manu Bennett have heard nothing from the Titans team. The only thread of hope is that Greg Berlanti is involved with both projects, but even that's far from a sure sign these days.
  25. It just occured to me that the new Black Vulcan figure's head has a domino mask print underneath, and given Lego's apparent hesitancy to make new black minifigure head prints, I wonder if they might recycle that head for a Black Lightning figure soon? He does have a show on the way, so a little bit of cross promotion wouldn't hurt.
