Future DC Super Heroes Rumors & Speculation
Numbuh1Nerd replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
So, to clarify here, this is what we know for sure: The Brother Eye set contains Batman, OMAC, and an uncertain third character with the Brother Eye satellite and a new Batwing build. The third character is not Terry McGinnis, aka Batman Beyond. The Court of Owls set contains Batman, Ace the Bathound, and two Talons with some sort of Batmobile-esque land vehicle as the build The App-Controlled Batmobile set contains at least one minifigure, and a red windshield (which I think is more indicative of one of the New 52 Batmobiles than the Arkham Knight one?) -
I love that Clea! The rest are pretty great, too, but I love a good Clea!

That's not quite accurate. The Brother Eye set doesn't have Batman Beyond, it has Batman, Omac (the prelim figure had a mohawk, and Omac is directly related to Brother Eye) with no indication who the third figure is. It's just as likely that it's Terry McGinnis as it is Ted Kord's Blue Beetle. The two Batman figures only really indicate two heroes with one of them being Batman. -

The Firestorm from the Luthor Mech is actually Jason Rusch, although the visual differences are minor enough to make him work for either. (The cowl is the biggest sign; Jax never had one) I'd say a set involving the Atom at least is pretty likely sometime soon, though! We just saw him in the Lego Flash movie, and he's nearly the last classically major Justice League member left to be made into a minifig. You *might* see Vixen and Heatwave at some point, but otherwise, everybody else is pretty unlikely. We haven't gotten a figure of a character from any Arrowverse show that wasn't already a big marketing character (We've only got 12 Arrowverse heroes as it is - Green Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, Black Canary, Firestorm, Captain Cold, Martian Manhunter, Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Killer Frost, Superman, and Katana - but all of them are the major DC characters or ones they're promoting anyway). -

But we still don't know all of the figures in those 2 Batman sets (the third one doesn't have figures). I'm not ruling out the possibility that our latest Lantern could be one of them, but you're almost definitely right. -

Did we find out about the Giant Man figure before we found out about Lego Marvel 2? I can't remember. We still haven't gotten official confirmation on that new DC game, but if it's real, we should be getting that announcement soon. I'd say in all likelihood Jessica's going in the book and Lex is going with the game. Lex has more detail, while Jessica has the same old crappy leg printing that they'd never do for a game exclusive. Admittedly, though, I'm not entirely convinced that she won't be in one of the summer sets. -

They're not meant to gauge *our* interest. It's all going off of the old notion that kids have no concept of quality and will want whatever is offered to them so long as it matches a base impulse - in this case, brand recognition. They want to see if kids like Flash enough to buy a product that's just about Flash (or potentially, if they like DC enough to buy a product solely because it's DC). Of course, LEGO doesn't know or care who's buying so long as they can put in the same amount of cash and effort, so if we pay for them for their mediocre (admittedly kinda cute) movie, the message their receiving is "Flash = money also; perhaps other not-Batmans = money too?". The more we invest in LEGO's experimenting, the greater variety of stuff we're gonna get in and out of sets. We might even see a year without a pure Batman wave! How bout that! -

Again, I'm betting this is on purpose - that they want to test the waters of the next biggest DC hero right now without any incentive other than the brand. If you want to see more sets that aren't Batman-centric, buy this movie. Wait for a sale if you've got to, but this is the best shot we have at convincing LEGO to give us a more diversified DC theme, and is exactly the kind of thing that could put guys like Kid Flash, Heatwave, and Mirror Master on the fast track. It could even pave the way for that long-requested CW Flash set. Vote with your wallets, guys! -

We got a leaked image of a Lex Luthor minifig in his Superman armor from Rebirth, which seems like it'll be the exclusive figure for that new book (or potentially that DC villains game if it ever happens). We're also a day away from the Flash movie release and there's been absolutely no indication of a figure for that. If you ever wanna see someone other than Batman and Superman get some set focus, though, I'd buy it anyway. Vote with your cash, as they say. -
Ooo, that actually sounds really great! I'd be sure to swap the arms out for purple ones, gotta keep that red and purple color scheme in tact!

This actually opens the door to a much bigger question: does anyone know how to find specific decals? Bricklink's search function isn't terribly helpful when looking for specific shapes and colors like this. Is there another tool out there for that?

Cottonmouth looks great! It's usually really hard to make the guy-in-a-suit types look distinctive, but you pulled it off really well! Ego's pretty rad, too, that torso especially is perfect for him!

As far as I can tell it's courtesy of the wizard, but I can't imagine why it would look like anything like the traditional Shazam costume does if Billy's fantasy had nothing to do with it. -

I'm down for the spandex. It's confident. It says "I have nothing to hide and I don't care if this looks dorky." I think that's the problem with a lot of cinematic superhero suits (holy alliteration, Batman): the designs are so concerned with looking practical and badass that they lose some interest in representing the character. Superman needs to look cool, so his colors are muted and his outfit's a spacesuit, even though Superman - being an optimistic dork from Kansas - would totally just put on some primary-colored tights and put a big "S" on his chest because it looks neat. They give Batman armor for the sake of practicality, never considering that Batman not having armor would say "This guy is so good at this shit that he doesn't need it". We get wrapped up in a broad idea of realism and ignore what's realistic for the character. Shazam's got the powers of a god and the mind of a twelve-year-old, he's not gonna need or want a leather jacket or a futuristic bodysuit, he's gonna want to look like a classic superhero. -

Oh man, that never even occurred to me! It looks like he could make for a figure that's indistinguishable from the comic one, where we won't have to wait for them to do a normal version! Even more reason to be hyped! -

I think that head and hair are the best options on the market right now. If Zane's hair from the Lego Ninjago Movie were available in black, I'd say that's the ideal, but in the meantime, that buzzcut is the way to go.

Well, given we haven't heard anything at all about them, and the summer waves usually are about just two sets, I wouldn't be so sure. There's like a 0.2% chance of that, just because, and I quote, he's "A *&^%$#@ SHARRRRRRRRK!" but nobody's said anything about him. It sounds like Steve's just a fan! Oh, and we've got a bit of news! While there's still no word on the Lego Flash exclusive figure, we do have another outlet! There's a new DC Visual Dictionary that says it'll have an exclusive figure on the cover! It's apparently going to include the LBM stuff, too, so I'm betting that it'll be Samurai - the only one of the token minority Super Friends we haven't gotten. 'Course, it's also possible that that's where Atom's going if we don't get one with the movie. -

I've got some bad news for you, pal! We know what's coming for the rest of the year, save for any early winter 2019 releases, which are all probably gonna be Aquaman sets. Maybe next year! -
WOAH! This might be my favorite one of these yet!

It's just been a little slow around here lately. A lot of the old staples of the community have vanished - perhaps because a lot of the more desirable characters have actually gotten official figures now? - and the initial uptick after a new set release season has calmed down. Plus, people tend to pay less attention to links than they do figures (or at least leave their feedback on Flickr instead). As someone who won't take the time to compress my iPhone photos so they'll be small enough to upload here directly, I'm pretty familiar with it I really dig your Klaw and Whirlwind! I didn't know they made Whirlwind's helmet in green!

I'll admit, I had low expectations for Owen, because so many people make him as just a less distinct version of his dad, but that head is shockingly perfect! Wonderful work!
