Future DC Super Heroes Rumors & Speculation
Numbuh1Nerd replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
The DCEU should've at least left room in that timeframe for the likes of the Justice Society to exist instead of making Superman the first superhero rather than the first publicly known alien. I would absolutely love to see New Frontier be brought to live-action, though, if absolutely nothing else. I think we need more superhero movies set in that era (especially a Fantastic Four one). We might be getting a little off-topic here, though I'm wondering if this Batwoman mask mold might get used again soon for Huntress. If they aren't using the Batgirl cowl for Batwoman, they have to have some second use for the new mold. -

Maybe too intense for Luis, but that could work for Wong. I'd probably bust that out for Breacher from Flash, it's got a nice Danny Trejo vibe going on!

Future DC Super Heroes Rumors & Speculation

Yeah, I remember that episode! It's one of my favorites, honestly, but that's about as big a spotlight as those guys have ever gotten. Even Brave and the Bold never used them. (Come to think of it, it would've made a rad episode of Legends of Tomorrow!) This is going to be their third proper appearance in television or film in the last 50 years. Even their presence in the comics has been minimal in the last decade or two. -

Wow, seriously? I mean, I know he has a thing for WWII, but I figured it was more of a "Hey Steven, you wanna make a movie?" "Yeah, sure, let me just sift through Wikipedia for a bit" kinda thing. We've got our first clear photos of the summer sets!! The Brother Eye set contains Batman, Batwoman(!!), and OMAC as predicted, and the Talon set contains 2 Talons, an armored Batman and Ace the Bathound. Both have new accessories akin to the energy blasts from the winter sets, but these are all various Bat-shaped things, like some new Batarangs and some shield-y bits that remind me of the Bat-Shield from Batman '66! Oh, and - Batwoman has a new cowl mold with her hair coming over the top as it usually does, and with a white head like she's drawn with in the comics! Oh, and Brother Eye has a light brick in it, and a nice printed trans dish for the eye! The Armored Batsuit looks reminiscent of the Thrasher suit from the Court of Owls storyline! It might even have red eyes like it, but it's hard to tell. -

Oh yeah, they did have to do that with Indy, didn't they? That feels like it was so long ago! And that would make a pretty rad set! -

I'm still dumbfounded by that announcement. One of the biggest working directors doing a movie based on characters so obscure that I couldn't name an individual character if I tried, long before even the core members of the Justice League will have their own movies. Completely dumbfounded, but almost just as excited! This will be an interesting one, I think. Lego already bent their rule a bit for Wonder Woman, but I think this is going to come down to whether or not it's more WWII or more sci-fi. This sounds like a movie that absolutely wouldn't get a toy deal, but it's Spielberg and it's DC Comics, which seems like a pairing primed for toys, and it's also the friggin' Blackhawks movie, so there is absolutely no telling how this will pan out. Assuming it's much more Captain America than Dunkirk, Lego could easily give us at least one set with some fudged designs to cut the WWII tie, but if it's middling on its broad appeal...who knows. Admittedly I could go either way - getting an official Blackhawk figure would be neat, but it's nothing so special as to make me demand it, y'know? I'd bet money that this movie's going to connect the dots between Wonder Woman and Birds of Prey. There was already some indication that Sameer would be a Blackhawk, and the Birds of Prey features the only Blackhawk of note - Zinda Blake, aka Lady Blackhawk - so it would make sense to use Sameer as an anchor to the existing continuity and then be a springboard for Zinda's debut in a Birds of Prey movie. All speculation, but it's something to consider. Actually, why are we talking about the far-flung Blackhawks movie when we just got a confirmed director and title for Birds of Prey?! That's supposed to start production by the end of the year, so we'll be seeing that a lot sooner, and it's something we've gotta get at least one set for. Batgirl, Black Canary, AND our first Huntress! (Assuming they're not just doing some stupid in-name-only crap or replacing one of them Harley instead of making her and Ivy the villains but I'm going to remain optimistic ) -

Pin that on everyone's favorite Ryan Reynold's picture! The toy sales from that Green Lantern movie were so dismal that it killed major retailers' interest in the property (and the wonderful animated series). I don't know how well the one Green Lantern set we did get sold, but the Lanterns are probably occupying the same space at LEGO DC that the X-Men do over at LEGO Marvel. I really wish we could get some new Lantern thing outside of the comics, at least in part to justify more appearances in sets. (Also because they're such a big chunk of the universe and easily the coolest DC concept that nobody's touching outside of the comics rn for some reason??) -
Thanks so much!

He's in four episodes and the non-canon tie-in comic, but sadly never once says "I'M A SHARK" so really? why bother. For real, though, all of his Atlantean ties are cut on the show, where he's just a metahuman. I'd bet we see King Shark in an Aquaman-centric set before a Flash one, though. At the end of the day, he just makes more sense underwater in toys. DC really does need to catch up on their big fig quota. Marvel's had 9 so far, while DC (including TLBM) has only had 5. Grundy, Swamp Thing, and Atrocitus seem like the next most likely characters to go for. Of course, we're also getting OMAC and Brother Eye this year, so who knows what in the megablocks is likely anymore! We could Captain Carrot next for all we know! -
Thanks! I haven't gotten to check his book out yet, but it's on my to-do list!

That all depends on where you classify the Multiverse figures and Funko stuff. There's also a batch of Imaginext figures that clearly pulls from some Arrowverse supporting cast, and seems to pull Vixen's design straight from the animated show, but that's only really in the same wheelhouse we're in with Lego. BUT it is worth noting that most if not all Batman '66 stuff was marketed to collectors in that same way until Lego made their D2C Batcave, so it's quite possible that Lego could be the one to break the barrier first. Oh, and there are some YA tie-in novels for both Flash and Supergirl (one that involves Atlantis!) At the time those first few came out, we were only barely getting the big 7, so Supergirl, Green Arrow, Martian Manhunter, Captain Cold, and Grodd are at least one hell of a coincidence. The second batch has a bit of a better case for coincidence, but Firestorm - especially a black Firestorm - is not a big character now by any means outside of Legends of Tomorrow. At the very least, there's influence. -

I don't think that's quite a fair argument anymore. I mean, we just got a set with Flash, Cyborg, Reverse Flash, and Killer Frost - and three of those characters are major players on the tv show. Supergirl at least has a pretty solid percentage of kids in its audience, and none of those shows (save for Black Lightning, which is surprisingly gruesome on occasion) are less child-friendly than Batman v Superman or Man of Steel. It's also pretty clear that recognizable characters aren't the biggest driving force behind those sets anymore, with this last wave giving us the likes of Cheetah, Jason Rusch's Firestorm (the only one NOT in anything right now), and Lobo. The only thing I can imagine standing in the way of at least Flash-based sets is that they might have to pay extra to use their likenesses - but even THAT I'm not sure is a thing. In the meantime, though, it's pretty evident that LEGO is peeking over at the CW stuff for figures. We got Gorilla Grodd, Captain Cold, and Green Arrow for the first time all during the back half of Flash's first season, and a set featuring Supergirl and Martian Manhunter in Supergirl's first season. We just got Firestorm, Killer Frost, and Reverse Flash during a big Firestorm arc on Legends, Killer Frost's proper introduction on Flash, and right after Reverse Flash had his central villain role on Legends. If you look at the comics, the CW is really influencing which characters get the spotlight: the JLA is comprised mostly of big Arrowverse supporting characters like Killer Frost, Atom, and Vixen, and Mr. Terrific even heading up his own team. Whether we get sets based on those shows directly or not, if a character shows up in one, they're more likely to show up in a set sooner or later just from the popularity boost. -

Fair enough, although I find your lack of classic Titans appreciation disturbing (Also: Mer-Boy! What a deep cut! I actually had to Google that one!) -

I'd argue that "new and exclusive" is all it takes to make any figure marketable - at least to the audience that doesn't really want the DVD for its content. If LEGO will try to sell us Killer Moth three times, I can't imagine why they'd draw a line at selling us any version of Aqualad at least once (no offense, @Duncan Young ) -

The only part of classic Aqualad that you can't do purist easily is the trunks and the belt buckle. If they were willing to do dual-molded legs I wouldn't complain, but I think if they do Garth the best way to do him is to use his Rebirth or Teen Titans animated series design to get that nice, happy medium. Of course, this would also be a great opportunity to do Kaldur'ahm, which I would absolutely not scoff at. Either Aqualad would make me Aqua-glad! -

If they haven't by now, I can't imagine why they'd start *after* the biggest possible marketing boom. (I'd also bet that if the movie doesn't live up to box office expectations, they very well could pull TTG's plug. That's basically what happened with Green Lantern and Green Lantern: The Animated Series despite the latter having nothing but a title character in common with the former. They've got more than enough episodes for syndication anyway, and usually a movie comes when a show's about to die.) -
I forgot to post this the other day, but I introduce you to the brutally homicidal Wild Dog's kid sidekick: Wild Pup! Because that's absolutely a thing that exists! DC's Wild Pup by Numbuh1Nerd

Future DC Super Heroes Rumors & Speculation
Numbuh1Nerd replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
It wasn't announced until late last September, two months shy of a year ahead. With only that much buildup, a very limited audience and (thus far) marketing following a very packed summer and competing with both Ant-Man and the Wasp and Hotel Transylvania 3, and what seems to be a complete lack of toys and merchandising, I wouldn't be too optimistic about a seeing sets (f)or sequel. -

Numbuh1Nerd replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think you're right about that. I'm genuinely surprised we aren't getting anything, though. This seems like an easy toy deal, and LEGO's already got prints and molds for 3/5 of the team. All that's left is two new molds and whatever their villain or supporting characters require. Maybe it's just because they announced the whole project so late in the game? I mean, we didn't know this movie was happening until just a couple months ago and usually animated movies take years (although usually animated movies look like they weren't made on the same awful tv budget) so it's possible that most of the usual merch got left out to preserve the surprise? This whole movie is such a painfully weird circumstance, honestly, and on a less related note, I think that's gonna bite it in the megablocks financially. -
Future DC Super Heroes Rumors & Speculation
Numbuh1Nerd replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
It's possible, but I'd call it unlikely. He's not really been much of anywhere these days and they'll need a bigger character to make up for their more obscure villain. I'm betting it'll be a Bat-family member, though. Constantine is the only one I'd be skeptical of seeing. Atom is probably coming the soonest of all of those, but Booster, Fate, and Z feel like they'll be here any day now. I wouldn't be surprised if the Aquaman DVD comes with a totally unrelated character, maybe Atom. The Flash movie barely involves any Flash characters (from what I've seen, I haven't gotten to see it yet as I am broke as shiiiiiiiii-) so it's pretty reasonable to assume that we'll just get Aquaman, Black Manta, and the Justice League as per usual. -
I would settle for a microscale set of Kuzco's palace from the model towards the beginning with a few figures!

I need more ducks. Gimme DuckTales and Darkwing, maybe a nice Goofy Movie set thrown in for good measure. I'd love to see a classic Mickey minifigure somehow - ideally with the red shorts and yellow shoes intact, but I'd be content with a little Steamboat Willie set with a black-and-white Mickey! If they could find a way to make an Oswald figure, too, that would be delightful! As for some less niche stuff (although DuckTales seems perfectly likely with the wonderful new series) I'd love to get a good Lilo and Stitch set, a Robin Hood minifig, proper sets for Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland, and I wouldn't complain if they somehow found a way to make a good-looking Lion King set. Moana definitely needs a minifig - in fact, there really should be an initiative to get all the Disney Princesses into proper minifig form. Some of the modern tv stuff would be fun, too, like Phineas and Ferb, Gravity Falls, and Star vs the Forces of Evil (but especially Phineas and Ferb - they're just that iconic now imo).
