  1. I was on the fence about maybe getting this set used, simply because it's NOT a piece of construction equipment. This sets down the law: I MUST get this set sometime. The X-29 was my favorite plane once I learned of it.
  2. https://plus.google....id=gplp0&sort=1 If you go to that link, there is a button in the upper right that allows you to download the whole album as a ZIP file. Click on the "\/" arrow and 'download' is right inside.
  3. At least we don't have to worry about trying to tell knockoff Power Puller wheels from legit ones...yet.
  4. Portal axle hub? Pulley with holes? I don't know if the spacing on either of those matches, but it looks close?
  5. Is that a braiding loom, or a Stargate?
  6. I think that with "crank wheels" instead of tiny "thumb gears" it's be WAY less cumbersome to use LAs. Then again, I've never seen an LA. Old sets used part 3736 as a crank - worked well enough!
  7. I never visit the front page. I just jump direct to the Technic forum.
  8. What about Paypal fees? That could eat up the proceeds pretty quick.
  9. I'd say it does look like a 'trailing arm' type suspension. Could probably find out in more detail by de-constructing the LDD file, but I don't have LDD on this computer.
  10. Have the 'fingers' on the sequential stick push on a cam lever that's attached to the axle of the knobwheel?
  11. If you put extra gears on the 'inside' and 'outside' of the chain loop to act as both tensioners and guides, that'd probably reduce the risk of slipping at the cost of increased parts/complexity. Sounds like you've got a good solution planned!
  12. Why not a bigger version of something like "Cool Movers"? Like a fairly simplified "car carrier" truck, that also comes with 3-4 fairly small/simple cars? Functions would be moving the ramps to load all the cars on the trailer, and it'd be different from other stuff they've made in the past, and hopefully still appeal to the "kid crowd"?
  13. To be fair, the plastic bags the parts come in are 'components' too by those standards. I'd agree that it's more likely they are referring to physical parts, but one can hope...
  14. What if you mounted the motor "off-board" and used chain links to connect it to the turntable? Would that get in the way of the function?
  15. YAY FOR TECHNIC TRAINS! Can't wait to see the build progress!
  16. What I'm wishing TLG would do is give us more stuff WITHOUT wheels. There are too few sets that aren't cars, trucks, or construction equipment. We need more of the other stuff! We've had what, 2 or 3 snowmobiles, so I'd say we're kind of good on them. We've had the 1 "Snow Groomer," a handful of airplanes, one submarine, one 'standard' boat, and a handful of hovercraft. Helicopters have recently been added to as well, which is nice. More boat-y stuff would be neat, a sailboat with pulleys for raising sails and gearing for rudder/mast controls. Catamaran? Other submersibles? They've given us a big hovercraft in the B-model of the new Cargo Plane. Paddlewheel ferry, anyone? Give us stuff that's not a vehicle! How about a PF snowblower for clearing sidewalks? Or a lawnmower? They'd both have a fair number of 'Technic functions' while breaking from the "another car, another crane, another truck" slump that seems to be occurring.
  17. From what allanp said, it sounds like it's being mixed in as part of the manufacturing process at ~1% "color rate." This allows them to color the batch for manufacture, but still save costs as they're using a LOT less pre-colored plastic.
  18. 8250/8299 is probably my favorite of the older studded stuff. I don't own one, but I've pined for one since I was a kid (and still do). It's got everything - it's a watercraft, pneumatics, air tank, and minifig. Of the newer studless stuff, I'm not sure yet. I just don't know them well enough. :)
  19. Found it. Here's mine: I had the axle for the head tube in the rear hole, not the front. Fixed! Thanks.
  20. I found a copy of the APK on the internet and installed on my phone. While it's not perfect on the small screen, it worked well enough for me to decide that I really liked it. Paper ones are good, but being able to 3D rotate to verify pin/axle position is a great benefit. I can see this being very useful on more complex models.
  21. Thanks for the edit, Jim - I'm still getting used to this place. Polo - I'm DEFINITELY going to have to take it apart and start over. My 3L arms holding the motorcycle head tube brick are touching the bent liftarm. In your pic they're clearly not. Must be off by one hole somewhere down inside the structure... Thanks!
  22. Hi folks! I just re-assembled my 8430, but it didn't go as well as I would have expected - so I'm wondering if some of you can chime in and tell me if I did something wrong. When it came time to add the 6L blue liftarms towards the front of the frame, I found that the 2 pins and the axle that go through them weren't lined up well - and that I had to really, REALLY put some bend on the liftarms to get them to fit. I went back through the instructions, but couldn't find any mistakes in parts or alignment. I'm not happy with it, and was hoping someone else could confirm if they do get forced pretty hard or if I'm a dunce. Thanks!
  23. There's a guy near me with a 8675 for sale for $175, in box, complete (used). Too bad I don't have the money for it now.
