Allow me to add a small video review: -
Sure, my Paypal account is shown on page 2 of the instruction. Thank you.

I fear this one is a bit controversial. While Zblj's machine is fully self-contained except for a power source, some people may point that you just made a couple of propellers that detach from the motors. I mean no offense, but probably many people see a huge difference between your creation and Zblj's one.

Model Team
Sariel replied to Mike_K's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It's a convenient way, not necessarily the best one. Personally, I've built a bunch of Model Team creations with Technic functions included without using any software. Actually, when it comes to functions, I consider trial&error building vastly superior to using computer. -
1. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=71075 2. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=x85 I have put a list with parts numbers here: http://sariel.pl/down/mb540-parts-list.html

Sorry for refreshing this topic again, but the instruction for the model is getting near, and I already have a total parts list for you: http://sariel.pl/dow...-parts-list.png

Is it just me, or does the top of the "nose" on that thing looks uglier than any other set I've seen in recent years? The part above the front suspension, it looks just like something a designer left halfway through development and forgot to finish.

chromed parts
Sariel replied to mornevanstaden's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
There are two answers to your need for chromed pieces: http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=Aurimax http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=ChromeBricks And that's pretty much all there is to be said :) -
The big rotor blades from the 9396 helicopter you asked about are exactly 14 grams each, 31 studs long and 2.5 studs wide (19 mm to be exact). They seem to have a good profile, very smooth and narrower on the "back" side, just like a real rotor blade. But you would need to mount them at angle, because they are not "twisted" relatively to their connecting part.

Autopump
Sariel replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very clever. -
I'd love to see this work, but I doubt it will. If you take a look at how RC helis, there's a vast difference between their performance and that what you can achieve with LEGO. For instance, a small heli can house motors that go 18,000 RPM while its total weight is 20 grams - there's no way to beat this with LEGO. Anyway, did you try overdriving the main rotor? Looks like the RC motor may have some spare torque to convert into speed.

Correct, although the latter is not really useful. -
