  1. Well, the book travels out of the US, it takes a while to get bulk quantities across the Pond.
  2. Nope. I'm half world away from the publisher's location, so you know...
  3. Put yourself in my shoes, I wrote the damn thing and I'm waiting to get it too :)
  4. I'm glad you like it. It's really important to me that you find the book up to your expectations :)
  5. Sorry to hear about your problem. Best course of action is probably to contact them at help@nostarch.com
  6. If you're patient, check BookDepository.co.uk: http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/Unofficial-LEGO-Technic-Builders-Guide-Pawel-Kmiec/9781593274344 They sell my book for 21.60 euros with free worldwide shipping, although their release date is November 30th.
  7. That;s right the 40% discount is now available. Also, here's a little promotional video for the book:
  8. I though about that actually, but it would require running a web server somehow coupled with the ROBOTC.
  9. One of these small, silly ideas: Photos, the whole ROBOTC program and some reading: http://sariel.pl/2012/10/nxt-peeping-tom/
  10. Here's the very first review, courtesy of BotBench: http://botbench.com/blog/2012/10/07/review-the-unofficial-lego-technic-builders-guide/ I guess "you’d be crazy not to get it" means the book is fine :)
  11. Thanks. O'Reilly Media should have this book in Canada, and you can also order it from Amazon.
  12. Clearly, you haven't watched all of it. It's 4:24 :)
  13. Well, I only take photos when I'm more or less sure I got what I wanted. There may be changes later, of course, but they are usually minimal.
  14. This is high reach arm: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Sariel/JCB456FrontLoader/4.jpg And one more reason to look through the photos.
  15. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Sariel/JCB456FrontLoader/5.jpg The answer is in the video.
  16. Video: Reading & photos: http://sariel.pl/2012/10/jcb-456-front-end-loader/ And one case of hijacking:
  17. Funny as always, except they're editor's fingers.
  18. In case you were afraid it would be a thin book...
  19. Thanks for understanding. Your 2-motor control idea is brilliant in its simplicity :)
  20. To be clear: the gearbox itself is a gearbox I developed back in 2007, just heavily reinforced with liftarms: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=279654 While it looks quite similar to your gearbox design, I can't help but notice that it precedes it by nearly 5 years. But yes, I used your idea for switching it with two motors, but I've seen it quite a while ago and I could not find the author when I finally put it to use. Guess I should have written your name down when I saw it, sorry. In any case, I added information at my website, in this topic and at the YT video. Hope that makes it alright. While at it, your autovalve from 2010 ( http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=443044 ) looks rather similar to mine from 2007 ( http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=282715 ) and I haven't noticed any credit either.
  21. He's got so many of them, one less should make no difference ;)
  22. That's the downside of a complex drivetrain with a lot of backlash and a heavy model. Yes, I'm using my autovalve for this. Let me help you then. Go to JCB's website: http://www.jcb.co.uk/products/Machines/Agricultural-Wheel-Loaders/457-AGRI/Benefits.aspx Click "Product brochure", download, open, look at page 1.
  23. Le video: Le reading: http://sariel.pl/2012/09/caterpillar-740-ejector/ Le gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=513747 The gearbox switching idea by Mbmc. To mr. Ryan - if the arm on the front end loader seems long, it's because this is a high reach arm that JCB offers as an option. It's supposed to be this long.
  24. It looks heavy, and 1 shock absorber per wheel may not be enough to support this weight properly. I think the sideways stability may not be good, too - the truck is tall, the heavy battery boxes are high in the chassis, and with portal axles at this angle you make it even taller, but not wider. One more reason not to build Trial Trucks with LDD only - LDD can't test it. Right now you put a lot of work into designing a truck that is completely untested. I hope it works well when built, but I think LDD is better suited for designing more static stuff, like castles.
  25. I agree, but think of the publisher struggling to keep the price reasonable. The book is in full color, which isn't cheap to print. Why, the index :P
