Challenge IV, Category C explained. RULES THREAD
Tomsche replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
A very amazing system, I`m going to need to study all that first Also, does the shield I have as a tag (the Mitgardian Elite) count as on of the `required` shields for pre-reg? EDIT: if so, Desert King then please -
It was almost 8 hours of good building fun, with a lot of intresting techniques and truth to be told, I haven`t regretted any euro of the 350 I had to shelf out for this beast. I did a full build report on it over at my blog, on http://tomsche69.blogspot.be/2015/02/building-avengers-helicarrier.html

Landscape of Mitgardia: Searching for Truffles
Tomsche replied to Tomsche's topic in Guilds of Historica
If you can`t build that well as the masters here, one has to compensate it in other ways ;-) I know the feeling Captain, I am almost convinced that somewhere down the line, one of the writer`s of PS stated that he knew someone in Belgium he would be driving into the rafters with his software -

My latest small MoC for the `Landscapes of Mitgardia` series over on Eurobricks, which details well, deuh, the landscapes of the viking like lands, and the all day life of it`s inhabitants. Porkchop! Porkchop! Porkchop, get back here girl! Landur was watching his priced black pig enthousiastically dig for more black gold near the birch tree. The beast was a good one, as he had already scored almost a full basket of the dark mushrooms, which would grant him a good yield in silvers at the market back in Merak. But it apparently was going to be a cold evening, as a chilly wind could be felt and the fish in the river where very active, as if even they where jumping in and out of the water for generating some heat for themselves. "What a silly idea", Landur thought to himself. "Fish don`t need heat, unless they are on the menu. I must be imaging things, next I know, I`ll be... seeing... penguins?????" PORKCHOOOOOOP!!! Just a small build I did because I wanted to try out a tree build technique like I experimented with in my `Dwarven Archery` MoC earlier, I was a bit torn about either using the nice black pigs from BrickForge, or the waaaaaay to cute Friends range penguin. So in the end, I decided to go for both... Sorry as well about the rough edges left and right on the pics, I finally started dabbling using Photoshop to cut away my backgrounds in my MoC`s, but I still need to learn how to fine tune the lasso and magic wand thingies... Enjoy!

Thanks, though i`m still sketching, resketching and generally having not really an idea on how to exaclty tackle that one. If I go by the movie, it would be to `grey`, so I`m looking to a way of raising up the meeting part, with a waterfall or something to break the monotone colours to one side. It`s going to be a lot of puzzling though to keep it within the confines of a regular base plate hehe

Weathertop, or Amon Sul, is featured in the early part of the book (or the first movie) as the place where the hobbits travel with Aragorn and Frodo will receive his stab wound from the Nazgul that will haunt him the rest of his life. Located upon a rocky cliff in the middle of the grassy fields, the challenge was to build a decent cliff and then get the ruins attached on top of it. I build it up like the set, with Aragorn duelling it out with the Witch King before a flabbergasted Frodo and Sam. In the meantime, the other Nazgul approaches, while the Witch King`s horse was left at the foot of the hill. Smaller then the Lake Town display I did earlier, as this is only a single set display, it none the less stands out in my cabinet due to it`s height versus the smaller base plate size. And so concludes the second of the three display sets I really want to build this year, the third will be another equal size to this one, for the Rivendel set. But with a lot of other projects that now REALLY need my attention, that one is for the longer road...

Why doesn't Castle have its own section of Eurobricks?
Tomsche replied to thetang22's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
In my personal view, I tend to view the GoH forum, on which i`m like, only active mostly on Eurobricks, a bit as the `fantasy side` of Castle builds. not saying there is no fantasy or such in the regular forum, but it tends to be all fantasy in there though. Which for someone of the `pen and paper Red Dragon Generation` (I coining that term) is the niche to be and nice. You don`t even need to know the lore (I`m on the site for about 2 years or so, and I still don`t know all the details) but the guilds mainly help as guideline to what style you like to build (vikings, knights, mummies or vampires in a VERY short generalisation), not as a set of rules in what someone has to do. About the Wild West and Ninja`s and the likes... honestly, following a lot of moc sites and the likes, they are a small percentage of builds out there after all, it doesn`t seem to really matter where to put them, but they are to `small` to support a whole board by themselves imho -
You my friend, own a LOT of barrels 3 excellent and big mocs in a day... I`m dreaming of that sort of skill and time

Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Tomsche replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Guilds of Historica
I think he is doing it as the old cities are from book 1 (I believe reading back on that story, some where actually destroyed?) and the newer ones from Book 2? Not sure, wasn`t around yet during `the old days` hehe -
Those little ships are cute! Love the brickbuild animals as well
