Again, the one above is my interpretation of the rule. That mean what I think the rule is meant for. If you want an official answer, you have to wait Superkalle's and legolijintie's intervention. The image of the official LEGO set was only an example aimed to help to point out the difference between an artistic license for the presentation of the model and a build technique that is not applicable to real bricks. Both contemplate something "flying", but there is a huge difference. You don't need Photoshop or another image editor, LDD and other digital editors allow to use build techniques that are not applicable in real buildings by themself.

The one above is my interpretation of the rule. Look at this image: it is the cover of a LEGO official set. The copter is "on the air", and no stand is provided in the set. A thing like this is not a problem, IMHO. Imagine instead to a "ladder to the sky" set, where bricks are placed as steps floating in the air. Suggestive, but impossible to realize in real bricks without a proper support. But in digital models it is possible. This is the case that the rule want to avoid. Else thing about a "magnetic engine" (maybe in a robot or a starship model), where a floating sphere is suspended in the middle of a circle. Perfectly feasible in digital LEGO, but in a real model the sphere will not stay in the middle of the circle, more likely you will see it rolling down, with you that will chase it before it is lost under some immovable old wardrobe. That's another case to avoid. The copter that flies is simply something to make the presentation of the set more attractive, the ladder in the sky or the magnetic engine are something you can't build in real bricks, instead.

I thought that the rules was intended to avoid models where parts are not adequately connected so that the model is not buildable with real bricks (in digital LEGO you can even build an unconnected model using tiles only, it will stand as digital model but not if built in real bricks). An helicopter flying in the air is not a problem, obviously the model in real bricks will not truly fly but, composing a scene, it is not so strange to see a flying vehicle in the air.

@KamalMYafi Much better, but images are not 0-pixel cropped. Maybe you can find useful this guide, that contains a "ready pack" that allow you to automatically crop&resize image. PS: for the future, never add new entries to an existing post, but create a new post. If you are a very "prolific" builder, try to cumulate entries and post a single time/day. PS: for the sets you added, a smaller image size would be better (because these are smaller sets). For further questions, ask me in private!

@BrickWild You forgot to crop and resize the image! Please fix it. PS: I suggest you to use brickshelf for the image too (as you already use it for the lxf file) and to post the image in the original PNG with alpha channel format. @KamalMYafi Welcome in the LDD Official Sets topic. Your entry is almost good, you should only fix the images (you have to make a 0-pixel crop and then resize the image, a good size for these sets could be 320 pixel wide). Please read the rules of this topic in the first page.

Possibly a stupid question (about LDD)

The main problem is that LDD have not all the parts that compose these sets. So the list will be incomplete. In many recreations available in the LDD Official Sets topic linked above, usually builders replace missing parts with similar parts or brick build solutions. This make the list even more imprecise. Probably the best thing you can do is to remove custom parts from these sets and renounce to these bricks that are not available in LDD (the custom palettes don't manage brick build solutions).- 6 replies

@rjg173 The decision is your, what I wrote above was only a suggestion. It is a contest, and find the best way to introduce your work will bring an advantage for you. About bluerender, it works on MAC too, and with basic setting it is almost immediate (give it a try!). Otherwise using LDD advanced graphic settings don't require any learning curve and extra time.

LDD problem in OSX El Capitan

@PlasticWin If you are using a PC (not a MAC), this is not the right tipic where to ask. Anyway, you need a DirectX 10 capable video card in order to enable outline feature. If your video card don't support al least DirectX 10 (you need Shader Model 4), that's the problem. Otherwise check your OpenGL driver. -
@CrashHelmets About your questions: Pic 2 In LDD is often necessary to place parts that when the software don't recognize a connection (typical example: place a car over a street). In all these situation you have to use a scaffolding. The principle is simple: if you select more bricks together, you can move them together, so you can take advantage of a recognized connection to place something where there is not a connection. SylvainLS showed you an example of scaffolding made using a stick and a clip, but you can create more complex scaffoldings for more complex situations (for example using ball joints). For more details, search for "scaffolding" in this forum. Pic 3 Follow the suggestion of SylvainLS above.

The first image show an illegal building. While it works with real part, il maintain the pin compressed and damage them. The second imange... I don't know. The third image is another illegal technique. Technic pin and normal pin are not perfectly aligned. In real live you can force this connection, but it damage the bricks. It is acceptable instead to connect a single hole instead than two as in the figure. The forth image seems to be an inaccuracy in the shape of the digital brick. It is not strange anyway, in LDD is quite common to find weird connections.

Probably you hit the target: I catalogued the set as made with LDD 4.3.9 because it was released after the update, but it was made with 4.3.8 instead. In these situations be careful reporting that the LDD version next to the link to the lxf file (so that I can immediately be aware that the set has not been made with the last version of LDD available) or, as other builders do, report the LDD version anyhow. And now it is better that I check again the index looking at the sets posted in that period, maybe there is some other error. -
Hi BG3D, and welcome in EuroBricks. At first, a good news: I just tested both the addon and the script for firegestures, and both works fine for me. So, it seems there is simply something to fix in your setup. About firegesture script, when you perform it, check on the bottom-left the message reported (you have few moments to read it). In Bricklink you have to be sure you are on the "edit" page, the path you described above is correct.

Hi LegoTFGuy. At first, the standard mode (LDD Mode) is not an "Parts in existing colors" mode but a sort of simplified mode. It contains combinations design-colour that are not available as real bricks and there are a lot of existing combinations that are not available in this Mode. Second thing, you could use your file to create a custom palette instead than import it. It is only another chance.

LDD 4.3.9 bugs and issues

It is not accurate at all. The normal mode is a sort of "simplified mode" (maybe thought for young users), not a mode where only real life bricks are allowed. Often in LDD mode you can find combinations not realized in real plastic and many possible real combinations are missing. I use almost exclusively the Extended mode, but there is an advantage in using the LDD mode: the custom palettes. When you know the parts you need to build, starting from a proper custom palette makes the work easier and more affordable. Unfortunately it is often necessary to switch to the Extended mode to add custom bricks and replacement for missing parts. -

@Stephan As in the LDD Official Sets topic, don't add entries to an existing post. The risk is that I don't notice the addition and don't update that in the database. PS: 60068 have some problem with the image (it seems due to the apostrophe that you placed in the name (after "croocks") but is not allowed in eurobricks). EDIT: fixed using the proper HTML code. -
Only Superkalle and legolijntje can answer this question. I can suppose yes it is possible but maybe, to avoid overload, they decide that a single image can contain more models as a single scenario and not as separate elements or compositions, or maybe you can do what you want inside your image (limited by image size, obviously, as in EB the maximum size allowed is 1024x768 and 1MB, if I'm not wrong). Let's wait an official answer!

Eheh ok, I thought it was a sort of specialized space agency/organization, a sort of sci-fi Red Cross. You'll need to put up to two models in a single image, or any other combination that suits the rules. For example you can reserve a single image to show all the theme, and other images with one or more sets shown in more details or on the back side. I suppose the five image limit is due to avoid enormous posts that are very difficult to browse. If I understood correctly, only bricks existing in real life are allowed. That means you are limited to an existing design/colour combination.

@rjg173 Your entry is very old-style! I suggest you to provide a better quality screenshots to show your creation, because the "packaging" is very important if if you want to hit the audience! You can find some suggestion here. Even better you can render your models using one of the tools discussed in this forum (maybe BlueRender is the easier to use).

Note that this contest is about a new theme. So if you already published some work related to this theme, even if the single models are original, the theme can be considered "already seen". So the question is... did you already published something related to this theme? (it is the white-yellow sci-fi hospital theme, isn't it?)

Hi eYoshi, and welcome in the LDD Official Sets topic. Good work for a first entry. I fixed a bit your layout and changed your image in text link, because you need to fix it before it can be displayed (the image has not perfectly cropped, that means 0-pixel borders around the subject). Besides it is preferable you use a LEGO related hosting service such as brickshelf or bricksafe, that are affordable and allow to host both images and lxf files and share that with hotlink. It is preferable that the image is a PNG file with alpha channel (such as the original screenshot). Hope you can fix it soon!
