20000 parts is a very large amount. LDD is not designed for this, and you can have problems even with a super powerful machine (depending on chosen bricks). PS: according with this link (first row in the table), it seems that is possible to reach 3GiB for a single process in 32 bit Windows. The limit for a 64 bit system is 4GB for 32bit processes, instead.
-
@roland Exactly (except that 32 bit windows can't allocate more than 2GiB for a single process). There is not a specific hardware you need for LDD. It depends on where is your bottleneck. As explained above, 4 GiB of RAM could be enough (if you have not too many other processes/services running), so if you want to improve you LDD experience maybe processor or video card can be the problem. The processor is not extremely "powerful", but I don't think it could be a real limit because LDD is a single theaded software, and a 3,3 GHz Sandy Bridge core is not so bad. Maybe the video card could be a limit, due to the 512 MB memory. You should check the VRAM with an appropriate tool to see if LDD saturate it.

Hi ScotNick, and welcome in the LDD Official Set's topic. Your post is good, but you have to fix the image: - the image is slightly oversized: maximum size allowed (for large sets like this one) is 512x pixel. - the image is not cropped: you have to completely remove borders around the subject (take a look at other regular posts as example). - the image have to include all the parts used. Thanks! EDIT: I noticed another thing: there are not minifigs. Without minifigs, I've to mark the set as "incomplete". For any question/help you can contact me in private.

If I'm not wrong, the present version of the Index Manager I use fixes this issue. Maybe you don't use this version because I changed another thing (that I don't remember) that you prefer as it was before. Anyway I think I'll resume the Index Manager soon to provide a new version with some little improvements (the problem is that I've to apply again some modifications I did on my present version).

Hi Quotex93, maybe you missed the "Official Sets made in LDD" topic, in the digital section (click). The topic contains and indexes many recreations of official LEGO models, including city/town ones. And obviously we ever need contributions to update old entries and add new sets that TLG releases. Did you contact any staff member before opening this topic? For any help/explanation, contact me in private.

LDD for mobile devices?
Calabar replied to legonerd54321's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I think that, at the moment, we will be happy to have an updated version of LDD for PC. A mobile version will need complete something near a rewrite of the software, and I think that this is out of question. At the moment the only LEGO cad suitable in a mobile device is MecaBricks. Unfortunately it's interface is not thought for mobile devices at the moment, so its use is not comfortable. -
It is a pity that bluerender cannot show separation of bricks in any way, I think it is a lack that easily catches the eye. I agree that brick shrinking is far from perfection and can introduces artefacts, but sometimes it could work and it should be easy to add as an optional "experimental" feature, with a little disclaimer that it could not work properly. For example my main aim is to use bluerender to create images of lego mosaics, where the separation of the bricks is very important to produce a somewhat realistic effect. There the brick shrinking would work, as in a mosaic all the bricks are common bricks. In brief, if you have not some better idea, it could be better than nothing!

@Alskadosis Hi, and welcome in the LDD Official Sets topic. Maybe the problem was due to your browser cache, try refreshing the page or changing image name. It is important you fix your images or the entries will be irregular and will not be indexed. So please don't push back to next sets but fix these entries too. About your images you should: - resize them to an appropriate size - as images are too "flat", place the camera to obtain a better 3D effect - crop the images to obtain a perfect crop (0-pixel border) Take a look at other regular entries as example. About instructions of Mixel series 6, could you provide the file? I can't find that anymore in the lego website. @Giovanne Thanks you too for the contribution. A note about the pictures: images are too spared (you should place the elements in the scene in order to minimize internal blank spaces, obviously avoiding excessive overlap), and you should make a perfect crop (0-pixel border around the subject) For any question/help contact me in private.

LDD bricks with knobs
Calabar replied to THERIZE's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Could you provide a screenshot? (CTRL+K in LDD, maybe enabling advanced graphics) -
I think too that the problem is probably related to your video card driver. Is the driver up to date? Anyway I had and have no problem to see the image.

LDD Help needed - Parsing Error?
Calabar replied to KotZ's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
So, did you solved the problem yourself? -
Thanks for this tool! I really appreciate. Two fast questions: - LDD is among requisites, it it necessary that LDD is installed on the machine that performs the rendering? - Is sunflow integrated in the package? (I didn't get it yet)

LDD Help needed - Parsing Error?

The process can take days, so it would be better to direct link the lxf. -
LDD Help needed - Parsing Error?
Calabar replied to KotZ's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Unfortunately saving many times don't help if the last write corrupt the file. Maybe there are enough data to (partially) restore the work, if you are lucky! Could you share the lxf file? -
A rendering experiment
Calabar replied to msx80's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Sure! The rendering could be an interesting option anyway. About the image, it is surely a nice result for a "one minute rendering"! On which machine do you obtained that time? -
Hi nickruns, welcome in the LDD official sets topic. There is something to fix in your post. About the text, I'll fix it for you this time. Problems are: - not standard font/size - theme data missing - LDD version unspecified Besides you have to fix the image (in the meantime I'll convert it in a text link): - the image have to be cropped. You should remove ALL the borders around the subject (take a look at the images in other posts, as reference). - maximum size allowed in this topic is 512x pixel for big sets. In your case a 320x would be enough. - try to place the image with a better angle. Now it is too flat. I suggest you to enable advanced graphics and brick outlining in order to obtain a better quality screenshot. Other things seems fine, maybe except you should try to replace missing parts (like heads) with someting available in LDD, to avoid the "incomplete" effect. In general, I suggest you to carefully read the rules that you can find in the first post of this topic!

A rendering experiment
Calabar replied to msx80's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Thanks. Surely a simplified way to render lxf files in this way would be very appreciated... from me at least! I would not know where to start! My idea of integration was something like: copy Sunflow in a folder inside the blueprint folder and use it though blueprint (mainly for render instruction image, but even for single renders too!). About the file to test, you could try "7700-1_C3_calabar.lxf" or "casa_full_Ultimate.lxf" from my gallery (on the bottom, click on the file name to download). -
A rendering experiment
Calabar replied to msx80's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
This little rendering software seems to be very interesting. I'd like to try such a small and fast software, the result is very good related to the rendering time. A pair of questions: - is the software still in development? It seems to be discontinued, in the website the last update is dated February 2007. - is there a simple way to pass the software a LEGO model? How did you import it? - are you planning some kind of integration with blueprint? -
Or maybe the 6208, removing the first digits! It wouldn't a bad idea to apply this rule or a similar one to allow new users to participate. Certainly, the companion-set would not be unique anymore... I like that set very much instead! I wanted to buy it, but it was overpriced and difficult to find on "discounted" channels so... I didn't bought it!
