2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
Blazej_Holen replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Perhaps it does, but copper is more fleshy and unique. I consider reddish brown as boring colour for helmet. Anyway… It would be nice to get 1-2 new castle helmets for next sets (hopefully we get them in 2026, as LKC and MTS retires this year). There are sadly too dew helmet types. For foot soldiers only two. For knigts we have three… I would like to see some new helmet for men at arms and new visor for knights… also pearl dark grey would be mostly welcomed… -

They eventually should appear on PaB since its non-licensed theme… My guess is around autumn… -

Copper would be 100x better. Redish brown helmet looks cheap… pitty. At least I could get rid of them and replace them with more “medieval-ish” ones. -

Helmet is in copper, not reddish brown. Its a weird choice, but it can be swapped easilly. Legs and torso are fine. -

Agree… Except for Sleepless Knight submissions - Mountain fortress is almost better than any castle Lego has produced period. LKC is even in terms of quality… Siege camp lacks good figures, but I understand that BDP uses only existing prints and parts. Other submissions I have seen doesnt looks as good to make me pay for them… -

Nice figs indeed. The pirates looks good, I prefere the one with stripes on shirt rather them she-captain, but both of them are great. The main treat for me are Griphon and Kraken knights/soldiers. The griphon one worh scale mail has belt printed on torso rather then legs so it is higly customizable. It looks like grey or silver torso, so any colour of legs and arms would fit nicely. I guess that the torso will be reused possibly in favour of black knights (if Lego decides to make them). Kraken soldiers looks pretty good too. Copper viking helmet is nice to get, but I will probably swap them for more traditional ´castle” ones… While I kinda like both shields, I still prefere classic teiangular one. This “Zelda shield” is too cartoony for my taste (in real life it is impractical as hell)… overall great Ideas set! 👏👍🙃 -

Garbage is wery strong word. Barad Dur is a great set, for what it is. Shire has worse design, and its overpriced as hell, but garbage? Wou wou wou… -

From what I see on those rather blurry pics, I am not amazed at all. First “The Shire” set, now this… or “How to ruin LOTR theme design vise” 🤦🏻♂️ It really matter who designs the set. If its done by someone who has ecperience, creativity, and love for the theme (like Mike Psiaki, Milan Madge, Wess Talbot or Ahswin), then you get premium set with clever design and jampacked with details and everything. But now it seems those sets were designed by Lego interns… For the price they are asking for it, its obscure. Years we Fans of LOTR have been waiting for a Balrog set… now we have one, and its just riddiculously bad. Thank you but NOT THANK YOU. -
Is it just me or is Army building really really expensive?

On a slightly different note - does anyone have experience with KTown Bricks? I consider myself as a “purist” and only customized accesories or figs in my collection are from CultBricks, who I consider as a best quality third-party source… But I recently visited KTown Bricks eshop and find some of theirs custom printed medieval torso very likeable and interesting. Also I like some of their polearms (not swords etc) which looks Lego(ish) enough… But before I made purchase (its expensive as hell) I was wandering what are your experience with those custom larts and prints? thanks in advance :) -

Yeah. The minifigs are highlight of the set… Looking forward to a PAB, hopefully they will appear there as well later this year… -
[Poll] What is Your Favorite Castle Faction/Subtheme?
Blazej_Holen replied to SpacePolice89's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Not all I think. What about Dragon Masters? They were’nt great even back in 95´ when they came up. Now there is only one poor torso print and thats it… But Black Knights on the other hand… If they make a good comeback, Fans (me included) would be drawning in joy and happiness 😀 -

Interesting...only 6 members voted for Wolfpack...but when MTS came out, everyone was crazy about that poor little wolfpack guy...not speaking about the CMF... :D Hmmm... -

First of all, my point of view wasnt ment to offend anyone (yet u seem to be offended?). I never said that Lego shoudl made only things that I want (thats riddiculous notion isnt it?). Anyway, in all due respect, thank you for your explanation. My opinion just reflects this discussion, and is based on Lego Castle theme history. Nothing more, nothing less. As far as I can see, fantasy isnt a bestseller, if its not based on a movie or such. Sales and early discontinuation of Lego original (sometimes crazy) themes speaks for themselves. Unlike "Classic Castle" (nowdays revisited one to go sets), which are demanded and praised (why?). But thats just my opinion. I am not forcing it to anyone and not expecting others to view it as I am :) Ok fair enought. Its starded as a medieval like theme, then evolved into something with fantasy elements (I guess for sake of novelty, and also, since in 90s it was so popular to make movies with knights, dragons, wizards, etc... so Lego get inspiration from there). The following evolution into Fantasy Era, Vikings...that probably changed Castle for a time, and it wasnt "medieval based only" theme anymore. True. -

And again, why have them in Castle theme which could (and should) be focused mainly on knights and kingoms while we can have a separate fantasy theme such as DnD? -

Blazej_Holen replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Is it silly? The Castle theme started as a medieval theme with King Richard, Robin Hood, Black Monarch, and other characters who were (depending on country where the sets were released) based on historical characters... Then Dragon Masters brought dragons (followed by Fright Knights) and Wizards / Witches, but that was about it. Only Fantasy Era was more fantastical...I remember that I thought that Lego get inspired by Warhammer Old World then :) Then it was again just "Kingdoms" with two factions fighting over Kingdom and also villagers, farmers etc. The "Blue Lion Knights" against Dragoon knights brought dragon and evil wizard again. But no elves, no dwarves, no unicorns or dark phoenixes, ogres or whatever. This is the reason why Castle is considered more as a medieval theme rather than fantasy one. I am all in if Lego decides to make fantastical theme, or maybe conntinue with DnD, since this is pretty much the theme that can bring you those kinda characters. (wizards, elves, goblins, dwarves, hobbits, druids...). But butchering the Castle with it is something I dont like. I am not into Raven Knigts, but I liked that torso style.. no emblem, just colours, interesting and medieval-faithfull design. This is something we need more than new factions which are basically the same as the previous ones, except colours. Agree :) -

Would it be still CASTLE though? I think that this is rather some fantasy / DnD like theme . Castle should be about knights, villagers, maxbe some fantasy bits like dragons or wizards but thats about it IMHO. -

I would like to see some more medieval accurate factions or minifigs in general. Not all men at arms should hve a crest, not all soldiers have to be the same… the castle theme as it is right now is reliable way too much on just simple scheme (minifig design wise). I would like to see more types of helmets, polearms, torso prints with chainmail or padded armour, new colours of horses (black and white are desperatelly missing), more flags and banners… Its really hard to make an army with 1-2 same torso print. As much as I like the new faction of horse knights to the overall pallette, i am a little bit sceptical about the colour choices. Hopefully we het griphon and kraken faction as well, sicne their colour scheme is way more interesting… What I really like is the new Seroent knigt leg and torso print… Glad to see no snake emblem on torso or belt, since the minifig is more customizable. This is a bug win. At least for my taste :) -

Its kinda good looking Castle...I will definitelly get it and build it, but hten I will use it as a parts pack... Figs are so far good, I am happy for the Kings crown headpiece and 4 minifigs from new faction is great to make small regiment of soldiers. Perhaps they can be mixed with paladins torsos, which I have 3x...:) So good set for what it is...
