  1. Nice Castle armies so far. However I would recomend you to make those foot soldiers more diverse... Like man-at-arms, rather than separate gangs of "swordsman / spearmen" etc. :)
  2. What a relief. Now I can sleep well without FOMO. I dont like the set not one bit. Easy pass… I am sglad that I get Upside down years ago, and thats enough for me :)
  3. I think that one of the reasons many people dislike the "Pancake" set is the price and what you get for it. That's simply it. It is ok to expect exclusive premium figures for the premium price. I am ok with that paywall. Because I get something that, in my eyes worth it (if I like it). The design itself is kinda ok for what it is, but to me, it's not appealing. I have no solution in mind to fix it, I just dont like it, hence dont buy it. End of story. And Minas Tirith is the same case. I will buy it even if it's expensive (meaning more than 500 USD), but I want to be satisfied with the product, as I am with Rivendell. For a premium price, I expect a nice product that doesn't require heavy modding... unlike The Shire set, which is kinda nice, but for the price, it's a poor design overall, with plenty of side builds that are far below what's acceptable for me as a Lego fan and consumer. It's not about efficiency for me; it's about whether I like it or not. I am a fan, and occasional builder, I like to have some sets intact on my display (own very very few of those) and some sets moded and integrated to my layout (I am medieval/castle kinda guy). So there is that. It's about feeling that you're getting something valuable for yourself that's worth the price you're paying. There is a major problem of expectations that many fans feel Lego is obliged to fulfil. Somehow me included in this case, since we (and I) are waiting for a set like this for over a decade...Would it be microscale? Would it be minifig compatible? If so, would it be the whole city (at least something that resembles the whole city) or just a Citadel or Main gate or whatever? Will it include new molds? How many? New prints? New characters? Would it be expensive? If yes, how much and for how many pieces, figs etc... Will it be a good design? Interesting build? These are the questions that we are xpecting that Lego answers "Yes definitelly"! Everything else would be let down. I guess...
  4. Mines of Moria and Helms Deep battle are more than decade out of the shelves, hence inaccesible to the majority of customers nd LOTR fans. If you have them - than good for you. But there are plenty of people who would want them rather than Grey Heavens - a location that average customer dont know nothing about (and to get what? Gandalf, another 5 hobbits and Galadriel, Celeborn and Elrond?)... Rivendell and Bag End are also locations we had previously...Yet they are on high demand. I also hope that Mike Psiaki and Wess Talbot would be the design leaders of the Minas Tirith set. They are passionate and true fans of LOTR... Hope that Lego is aware that MT is a very special dream come true for many fans.
  5. Thats not a correct equasion at all. I thing the Death Slice / Pancake proofs it. Yes, Lorien could be nice, as well as Grey Heavens. But! There are plenty of other more significant locations. So far we have Rivendell (where Fellowship was formed), then "The Shire" (where the whole story begins) and Barad Dur, possibly the climax of the story (in terms of Lego, not books or movies of course). We are missing the depicton of the big conflicts, such as Moria battle, Helms Deep, siege of Minas Tirith etc. Also other locations such as Amon Sul are important to the story. We are (hopefully) far from the end. So making Grey Heavens, where the whole story was concluded, doesnt make sense, from the storytelling point of view. I can imagine Lorien as a great display piece with plenty of trees, part of the river Celebrant, Caras Galadhon... but then what figs we can expect? Full (8) members of the Fellowship, Galadriel, Celeborn, Haldir, 2 elves... so all in all it will be Rivendell vol. 2. SO if we ever get set based on Lorien, I can imagine getting it in many years to come, after other more important and interesting locations will be done. :)
  6. Lorien wouldnt be as appealing as other locations I guess. And Grey Heavens? Its a minor location showed at very end of ROTK. Helms Deep, Edoras, Moria...there are plenty of other more important and significatn areas to depict...
  7. The rumored line up isnt complete. Its just that among the figs we can expect, thwre will be Faramir, Denethor, Gandalf, Pippin and Gonodrian soldiers… but I bet there are more to come. Witch King and Eowyn at least, I would guess Theoden as well and maxbe some orcs…
  8. I think that it is a great set for what it is. It could be better, sure. But its a great parts pack and great companion to the LKC and MF… Its easy to mod, easy to expand, it brings nice new prints on figs, and the stickers are minor in comparison to the licensed sets (HP, Marvel, Star Wars, LOTR…).
  9. ....the price does not matter. Lucky you, when you can afford whatewer Lego trhow at you, no matter the price. On the one hand - congratz, on the other one, is it wise to give TLG that kind of bianco cheque to their pricing strategy?
  10. What minifigs do you have in mind regarding Barad Dur? There are all main characters that have something to do with that location (even though Frodo and Sam wasnt actually there)… my only complaint is the missing new prints for hobbits. Other than that… Its fine. 4 orcs, Gothmog, Sauron, Mouth of Sauron… thats all there is and should be right? Maybe Witch King would be nice, but he will probably appear in Minas Tirith set where he makes more sense… Not that mamy extras… just Elrond, Arwen, unnamed dwarf and two generic random elves… just to dill the scene. Nothing special to be honest. Feels about right but not mindblowing. $500 Minas Tirith wont make it look that good. This is enough for just the upoer most level with citadel and tower and courtyard… and some side builds… I think that most of us are hoping for mor cohesive city/fortress like build rather than random cur from the city…
  11. The only way to make Minas Tirith under the price of Rivendell / Barad Dur is to make it in microscale as a display set only. If Lego do it that way, I would be dissapointed, but at the same time with a bit of relief, since it will be easy pass for me. BUT. If its minifig compatible (at least like Barad Dur), we should expect $800 set at minimum. It wont have all 7 levels, but it will probably ilustrate the overall shape with most of places inaccesible for minifigs (because of scale), with some scenes, such as Throne room, Main gate, possibly House of Healing, Palantir room (not in the movies but anyway...) and Lighthouse tower/something, maybe with light brick :) Minifigs would be mixed bag I guess: 1. It has to have at leas Gondor soldiers (I guess max 4 including Faramir in armour) this requires new printing and new mould for helmet and possibly a shield 2. Gandalf in white attire 3. Pippin in gondorian attire 4. Denethor 5. Witch King - new mould for helmet 6. Éowyn - new mold for helmet, updated Rohan shield 7. Théoden - new mold for helemt, updated armour piece and shield, + white horse (please with barding) 8. Some orcs (same as in Barad Dur set), I guess 2-4 max. 9. Aragorn possibly in gondorian attire, either way woth new print and possibly new mould for complete Anduril 10. Merry in Rohan attire That makes 16 figs + horse and maybe brick built Fell Beast. Something like this is reasonable and expectable based on previous experience with how Lego does their Flagship sets locked behind IP such as this one... In adition to the above mentioned, there could be Boromir with gondorian attire (even though he was in Osgiliath scene and not Minas Tirith), maybe 1-2 rangers (but I dotn think so) and maybe MAYBE one troll. As of side builds, it depends on how many scenes Lego would like to include. Maybe Grond and one siege tower could make sense... Trol will move the Grond and orc would be depicted on siege tower, while Witch King battles with Théoden , Éowyn and Merry.
  12. I would do the same but I like the interior and the bar… 🤦🏻‍♂️😀
  13. BP has better shape overall. BSB is OG classic and great ship. Sadly no cannons in gundeck… unless you modify it. BSB is still rulling the seas since its meant both for play and display… should BP had more interior, then it would be winner. Luckilly I had no FOMo in regards to the Death Pancake 😀 I have quite opposite, like Wednesday said - FOBI (Fear of being included) 😀😀😀
  14. And then, there was a silence… 😀
  15. So... It seems that there is limited interior space, just only captains cabin, which is rather small and fit 2-3 minifigs at once. There is no door connection to the main deck from the cabin, since the space in between is be probably dedicated to the rudder mechanism. Then there is some space under the main deck in the middle. The rest of the space is unused, or rather used for the mechanism that opens the gun ports. So...thats it... I understand, its a display model, not ment for play, or at least not mentioned for excesive play :) I can see 300 USD worth of bricks including design and overal look. Everything above it, is just overpricing already expensive set. So I will wait for the final pics and then buy it from some re-sellers from Lego Factory :) Or not.
  16. Sooo... the greatest (in scale an most importantly - in price) set is just "slice of ball" with 30+ underwhelming minifigs, tons of stickers, and ... thats it. Nothing. It offers nothing. For play, and for display? Who would pay 1K just for displaying a slice of grey ball on his/her wall? I hope and pray that Lego gets serious backlash with this. Poor sales, and poor fan reviews, because this is outrageous. And at the same time funny... I havent lough that loud for a while, when I saw the leaked pictures for the first time... :D :D :D
  17. Of any theme? I must strongly disagree...Even though DA + GB (togehther) are really great looking sets and perhaps one of the best sets I ever had pleasure to own, I cant agree with your statement... In terms of best sets of all time I still consider Lion Knight Castle and Rivendell, closely followed by Pirates of Barracuda Bay and Galaxy Explorer... :)
  18. That is way these "huts" should be more complete buildings rather than facades... I get it when its under I dunno 12+ playsets, but UCS? Really?
  19. DA had more depth than these… Look at the two sets, from the back… its obvious…
  20. Yeah the " willowy silhouette" is one thing, but the set desperately lack any depth, interiors are cramed and without any logic, some barely fit minifig. So in the end, we (or HP fans) get "nice" facade of stacked colorfull bricks, no special building techniques, just enlarged playscale set... I would prefer much detailed more complete buildings, with some room for minifigs to interact. Staircases, rooms, etc. In the end, we are getting just a facade for 380$... and thats just a ripp off and huge dissapointment for me.. I have no winter village vibes at all from what I see. Hoping for Black Pearl to be better...
  21. Thats one big “MEH” 🤦🏻‍♂️ I hoped for something more grown up, but its just a little bit polished previous set…
  22. That was just reaction to the 80-90s rant… ;)
  23. Still its Lego. So it should be looking like Lego. Maybe this “function” is all about the rudder hm? But also there is just something on the gunports that tells me that they are probably part of the function as well…
  24. Fingers crossed for you to get your Dutchman set in the end… I am not that big fan of this, since it will be expensive as hell and seeing the Pearl, I am not convinced about the quality matching the price…
  25. Its not about quiting the hobby… Its just not buying new sets for riddiculous amount of money… I am wery picky about what to buy, since I have limited space and also, I am willing to pay premium only for premium (by my standards of course). PoBB is remarkable set, with perfect story telling, great design with only minor flaws here and there (like a gunports for instance), with lots of playability and displaybility… all of that for $ 200. It is still quite amount of money, but I dont feel like I was cheated and ripped out… I am afraid, that with Black Pearl, it will be a different story…
