LEGO LotR - general discussion
Blazej_Holen replied to General Magma's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
There is no possibility to get stand alone Treebeard and those two Hobbits.. These characters we already have, so why would they create them once again? You have to buy Orthanc or build that ent by yourself. U can find proper brics on Bricklink :) -

There might be some, I dont see any informations of official discontinuing of LOTR line. We have to wait a little while...Next Hobbit wave vill be next year fall or winter 2014. Meanwhile we can see (hopefuly) some exclusive set (summer 2014) like Orthanc or such...maybe Erebor, or something with Smaug? To be honest, I dont expect any LOTR sets next year, maybe after TLG finish with Hobbit series... -

Nice selection of brics, useful leaves and circle plate, for Bag End extension perhaps...but Legolas is quite useful fig. Only hairpiece, but I can see that - to many blonde elves everyvhere :D Flick missiles are almost in every set, as well as catapult :) Cheap function for kids :D- 7,499 replies

Blonde is the right colour. That hairpiece posted by DESKP is wrong. Eowyn has golden hair...go on, read the book or watch the movie :) -

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

Hoodies are definitely betterthan regular elf hairpiece. Hood in this kind of color is very rare and fit to the figures much more better. Maybe I miss capes on these "Elf-rangers" Figs looks more cheaper than those which are included in initial LOTR wave..robber hairpieces atc. Azog and Radagast are superb and there is nothing to say, but almost orange Gundabad orc looks somehow funny..proper ones are for example in ack of the wargs set...color etc... And also the shoulder armor look weird... at least for me, but after all I can live with it :) Beorn is definitely weird...Dont understand why the messed up with his hadpiece, usseles extra special mold...Laketown guard is much more better. Azog is really big competition to him :)- 7,499 replies

Sting was only sword that needed to be uniquely molded? How so? Gladius is quite enough to replace it, same as longsword can replace anduril... First commercial poster form LOTR 1th wave shows Aragorn with Anduril...why they didnt create it? And Orcrist is realy unique sword and it cant be replaced by gladius as we see in Attack of the wargs set... Btw its a really shame that they did not add a cloak/cape for Thorin ... he seems plain tho...

I already complained about this issue. WHY TLG take so much effort on detailed and unique hairpieces, torsos, and so much more stuff, when they didnt create moulds for Orcrist, Anduril, Sword of Rohan etc. They already created a Sting! I am so pissed off about this. Pictures form video game like this makes me truly angry :)

Presence of nice pieces/bricks in this set doesent makes it "not so bad" , I can also use nice bricks and pieces, but its useles if u create monster like this :) But on a contrary, those two hooded elves ar maybe the best. Elvish hairpiece can be easily bricklinked, but hoods? Dark green hoods are quite unique at least here in middle Europe. There is not so much brickling shops (in Czech) so these hoods are definitely good point of the set. Also like brown warg, maybe he´s to dark..but who cares? Its better to get this collor than nothing :) I expect also a black warg in next wave (or really really dark grey :D) Thranduil can be easily selled, but u have other 5 figs, and thats something... In here it costs "only" 540,- CZK, which is 20 euros..and its not so much for licensed set like this. DGB is for 1.520,- CZK so its 56 EU :D Already take my orders with dome small discount, so together (these two sets) it takes less than 75 EU :)- 7,499 replies

Exactly... Maybe they realize that anyone can do their own "sets" and bricks alone are realy cheap. What u cannot do on your own is minifigs. Maybe thats why..Start to feel that there will be no third wave of LOTR. ..- 7,499 replies

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion

I can imagine how hard is to create set such as MEA and hold on the rules like number of bricks, playability and so on. But thats what I dislike. When this theme (LOTR, Hobbit is one big theme from Middlearth for me), I was really excited from those detailed and almost realistic sets (on lego set level). Thats why I decide to collect all of them, and maybe create my own (which I missed like Bree, proper Rivendell etc) to create nice windows to Tolkiens world. But nowdays sets like this second Hobbit wawe ruins it. DGB has potential, I ve already made a concepts in my LDD which are based on original set. Truthly it has almost 1000 bricks more than original set, but I saved original concept of Courtyard and made some halls , rooms, tunnels and add more spikes..but point is, that maybe this set only has some potential, the others are just lego sets for kids with detailed and nice minifigs... Yes, Ship is nice, and almost accurate, but the cellar? Why? What? Where is the logic? :) I know the logic of designer, that he has to put Corsar of Umbar somwhere like "jail him" but eeegghh? :) anyway, that set from his hands is fine. I didnt get it yet (miss this and Mines of Moria -because that set is simply awful) just waiting for good price...- 7,499 replies

Yeah, it looks "better", but its kinda repetitive..4 same walls with tree..(honestly - it doesent look like a tree :D)... I dont know what happend to that designer? Heartattack? :) Becaouse othere previous sets, like Bag End, Helms deep...these are full of detail, and awesome brick-built techniques, but this? What is it?- 7,499 replies

I think that this set is really big let down. Only highlight are minifigs. It cannot be "healed" by putting four of these ogether..it will be ugly all the same. Only solution is to recreate this model..make walls higher, create more realistic tree and maybe add another one...- 7,499 replies

LEGO LotR - general discussion

I agree and disagree all in one time :) Thera are actually missing KEY character which are in general most recognisible for LOTR, and they are Whitch King of Angmar, Eowyn, Gondor Knight and maybe Faramir and Gothmog. Also There should be some Troll in armor like in RoTF, when Minas Tirith was under the siege. Other characters like Denethor, other orcs, knights of Rohan are adjustable. In my opinion TLG wil do a HUGE mistake if the discontinue the LOTR line, but also I can Imagine that they dont want to create/design a Minas tirith set, because its almost imposible to do it with a key detail and locations and keep the price on a ground. Maybe they could create an exclusive set like Orthanc, but it will be mostly for AFOLS. Not everyone, icluding me can buy these sets like "every day" I wait quite a time to get Tower of Orthanc set because its pricey - yeah 199 Dollars (4.999,- czech crounds) are not much but I have a rent to pay, car to take care about, girlfriend and other duties, so I cannot simply effort to buy a "toy" for 1/5-1/6 of my sallary :) But its definitely nice to have it. I dont agree that this huge set is the last one, or was the last one from the beginning. It could be last one from TT subtheme, but not the last one of all the line. What we can hope for is this realistic wishes: Pellenor fields battle/Whitch king showdown - set whit fell beast, king of nazguls, maybe Theoden on white horse with barding, Rohan -knight or Eowyn and possibly Merry in rohan armor (like in the video game) Minas Morgul or at least front gate and some wall and in the best - the tower - maybe this set will include Gothmog, some orcs but is it enough for set? There should be other unique or key characters... Mount Doom, with a little structure of entrance and walkway..with Frodo and Sam in orc armour, and Gollum? Mirror of Galadriel - really? Maybe yes, but again Frodod in a shirt? For what? I understand that there should be a cheap set like 12.99 or whatever, but where is the point? Lorien wil be better...or a Ship from Grey Heavens, with Galadriel, Celeborn, old Bilbo...? Minas Tirith - definitely if there will be third wave, it will include Minas Tirith. And Figs? Dunno...Yes there should be some knights of gondor with new moulded helmets and shields. Torso will have printed armor (grrrrr) and maybe there will also be a worshiped Denethor or Faramir. And what else? Pipin in gondor amror? Gothmog, 2 orc and a troll? Possibly Grond? No Grond..please, it will stole brics from Minas Tirith structure :D So these are the options.. Is it enough for 3th wave or not? Btw I guess that everyone noticed - there are the figs from "3th wave" in a game LOTR There is: Pippin - Gondor armor Merry - Rohan armor Whitch King + Fell Beast Eowyn in armor Eowyn without armor Rohan royal guard Gondorian knight Gothmog Faramir Ranger of Ithilien Denethor Theoden in his royal dress Theoden cursed so..? :) They already create Grima and Saruman..and it was the same case... -

I´ve got a question, maybe it was already answered, but anyway - why TLG didnt created proper weaponry for minifigs (Hobbit LOTR) like Orcrist, Glamdring, Anduril, Rohirim sword etc. like in the game? Its really big disapointment that they give a lot of effort to create individual and unique hairpieces, armour, or printing on torso..but these key elements is missing. It will be much more recognizible if the put anduril in Aragorn hands instead of regular longsword...- 7,499 replies

I know, It is just beta version...I just try to hold the color scheme and architecture, in a same line as designers did, but I think that the original structure is way to small. In this wave I feel realy big disapointment, because of the size of those sets. Maybe Dol Guldur Battle is kinda ok, but anyway, they focus on interior - courtyard and not on the main scheme like Battle of Helms Deep set...and thats a shame.. Anyway back to mybuilding, I am a new user of LDD and I cannot find the correct collor for the windows or the specific arch bric and so on, and I didnt have a time for interior yet, but I will add a bookshelv, working table, bed, and some other accesories... :)- 7,499 replies
