  1. I like it !!!
  2. The time which is required for rendering is marginal dependent on the part count of your model. Even models like the ucs millennium falcon (more than 5000 parts) can be rendered in appropriate time by povray. So 277 bricks are no challenge for povray at all. I assume that you have extremely high quality settings in povray. This can be the reason for exceptional high time consuming renders. So try to lower the quality settings and check if you are satisfied with the result. More or less all of my renders (see my Flickr) were rendered in appropriate time. Let’s say 1, maximum 2 hours. For me the quality is fine. And my PC is definitely no heavy duty data processing center. Its just an old box …
  3. Seems that copmike is grand master of suspense. I guess that lots of people (me too) actually have a close look at this topic and can’t await what Copmike will disclose. Whatever the big secret will be, Copmikes indication is pretty successful. So the raffle fun is still going on … That's great!
  4. Glad to see that I was not the only person "misunderstanding" the sneak peak prices preview. And even much much much much more glad that I won price F! Thanks.
  5. Thanks for explaining your work. Most interesting! I would never have expected that LGEO is based on Povray. As I now have a better understanding of LGEO parts being mostly handcrafted, I will even more appreciate using LGEO.
  6. Wow. I’m deeply impressed. It’s indeed a star wars cathedral! PS: What about your wife? I can imagine that she wants you to build a similar room for all her shoes now.
  7. I also wish to say "thank you" as I highly appreciate to be able to rely on these great Lgeo parts.
  8. Thanks for the hints. I already used the snapping feature but I kind of struggled with it. Even by using version 1.4 I don’t get these bricks here snapped in the right position. May anybody be so kind and copy this please? Not sure it’s a bug. Yes, I agree, it’s a very nice tool. The handling is kind of different to SR3D, so it took some time for me to get used to it. But the all in all appearance, respectively the main concept is quite similar to SR3D. That's great. I like it! I haven’t already unveiled all possibilities of LDCad. I just have learned that there are plenty of useful features. E.g. the possibility of accurate parametric (x,y,z, angle) fine positioning of parts. Or self defined part bins for accelerating part search. So I am looking forward working with LDCad in the future. For all which are interested: LDCad is developed by Roland Melkert and can be downloaded here. Threads regarding LDCad can be found here. BTW: Legolijntje, what about opening a new LDCad thread and moving these posts?
  9. Creator - 31015-1 - Emerald Express LDR-File 31015 no error This is the first model I built with LDCad. So it just was an finger exercise for me to get started with LDCad.
  10. I regularly get desperate as my sons love to completely disintegrate all minifigs and to reassemble them in an arbitrary way. Simultaneously lots of minifig parts get scattered all over our home. The most annoying job of mine is to hunt out all minifig parts and to reassemble these highly valuable minifigs in the original setup. Therefore my ideal Christmas Gift is a Lego Minifig Transmogrifier (LMT): You just have to input an arbitrarily assembled custom minifig (left side of machine) and additionally all loose parts you have found (funnel at top of machine) and a couple of moments later you will get an original Lego minifigure (right side of machine). I think there is no need to give you further technical details as the transmogrifier technology is well known and state of the art. ... and for Christmas 2015 I wish to get a Scanning Lego Part Locator (SLPL), which works the following way: Papacharly: “Part Locator! Where to find Han Solos torso and Darth Vaders helmet?” Part Locator: “One moment please. Scan in progress. Beep. Beep. ... Dear Papacharly, please find Darth Vaders helmet inside the vacuum cleaner. Han Solos torso can be found inside your neighbours dog. Beep. Beep.” So have a nice Christmas. I definitely do so.
  11. Hi, don’t stop, go on! I follow your thread and your improvements with highest interest. I have a passion for virtual Lego and renders, but I prefer to use Povray as this is free of charge. More or less I am satisfied with the results I get in Povray. More or less means: If I would life on an lonely island I would be highly satisfied with the results. But since Virtual Republic entered this forum and posted his magic renders, my life has changed and now I am deeply frustrated. From my point of view the most amazing feature of Virtual Republics MODO renders (compared with povray renders) is that he is able to add a perfect imperfectness to his renders. In other words: He is able to get arbitrary surface or subsurface structures. If you have a close-up view rendered by Povray you see that the surface structure is very smooth and uniform. This looks not very natural. On the other hand, if you zoom out the visual impact of MODO and Povray is not that much different. I did several tries to get close to this extraordinary level of reality in povray, but I failed. So I am quite a bit jealous on Virtual Republic. So fingers crossed for your project. Hopefully you will also achieve this extraordinary or even a higher level of reality. Could you additionally please deeplink some high res images of your renders? This would be fine. Thanks. Looking forward for your new renders. papacharly
  12. Brilliant idea, brilliant implemetation, brilliant crash (lol).
  13. Coooooooool! Have a good ride.
  14. Download it in 3000x4000 here ... and do not forget to post an image of your AT-AT skateboard
  15. No. My only intention regarding this model was to make a render. Furthermore I doubt if all parts are available in the right color, especially the chrome ones.
  16. “Feuerstuhl” is german slang and usually used as expression for a heavy motorcycle. The direct translation to the English language is “Chair of Fire”. But this translation does not reflects the meaning of the german term “Feuerstuhl” which implies power, speed and roaring sound. Feuerstuhl is highly inspired by the built sc-3w-06 designed by Vince_Toulouse (see here). Its virtually built by SR3D Builder and rendered by Povray. HiRes images here.
  17. Thanks. No big deal: Get it here on my Flickr in 2000x1500
  18. - Please specify high resolution picture - Povray offers no GIF output: jpg, bmp, png, etc. is possible - Please specify no background: snowspeeder yes or no? - On one condition: You have to post a photograph from your At-AT-skateboard here! o.k.? So lets see what I can do for you ...
  19. Well done! Looks very good! Hope you will get lots of supporters on lego ideas. And I think the chances are very good as it is a complete set, containing well desigend minifigs as well as some additional stuff (and not only a single car). Indeed, it looks professional!
  20. Brilliant idea and great implementation!! Its really and truly retro.
  21. Thank you all for your comments! Actually I'm thinking about purchasing some more 10030 ISD required for setting up a new scenery in real life ....
  22. I was able to purchase the brand-new and very rare Lego Nanofighter 0.0000007965 Millenium Falcon !! The size of this new nanofighter fits exactly to the scale of the 10030 Imperial Star Destroyer. So my goal was to rebuild the famous Star Wars Scene from Episode V when Han Solo docks the Millenium Falcon to the Star Destroyer. Luckily I own 3 sets of 10030 as well as one set of 10221 Super Star Destroyer. So I was able to setup this movie scene in real life. As you can imagine, it was quite a bit fiddly to assemble this nanofighter. Especially assembling the laser cannons was a challenge. However, by using a magnifying glass and a pair of tweezers I was able to accomplish this mission. Have fun! original movie scene: Remake: Hi-Res Image
  23. Thanks! Glad that you like it.

  25. Thanks! It may be that the learning curve for the LDraw system is very steep. But once you have overcome the first steps you will love it too. And there is not only MLCad for creating virtual LDraw models. Additionally there is LDCad for example. I myself prefer SR3D Builder. It’s worth the effort! May the LDraw-Force be with you.
