[TC25] 42069 Extreme Adventure - 2/3 Scale
Zerobricks posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I chose this set, cause it's one of my favourite official sets, I really like the styling, functionality and details @grohl managed to cram into it. Started working on this idea yesterday in LDD, currently some 50% done, please note that not all colors are defined yet. It will feature all of the functions from the original 42069, here you can see the fake engine: And of course, the intricate door opening mechanism which I still have to test IRL: Still have to finish the tent-lifting mechnism, rear slide-out drawer and the rear doors. The only issue was with that I had to replace the purple with another color, so I chose Dark Azure, but other than that so far so good. -
[TC25] Air Tech Claw Rig 8868

This was my all time favourite set as a kid (still is, maybe), so when TC25 was announced, I was determined to shrink this set. I was worried that someone else would choose this famous set as well, but when I started last night to plan the build, I was convinced there was no other build yet. I overlooked @howitzer's topic. I'm looking forward to see their build and see how our builds compare. Mine is sized about 56% of the original Progress so far: -
[TC25] 8479 Barcode Truck
Berthil posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
40% shrinkage of the 8479 Barcode Truck. Obviously without the electronics and also without the Flex Cables. The idea is to 'program' the truck by road plates. The road plates will have Technic Gear Racks and the truck will have gears catching the gear racks when driving over them. The gears catching (rendered red in the image) will result in movement of the front arm and tipper as in the original model. It will also have HOG steering. I will try to stick to the original green but don't know yet if there will be enough Technic green parts for that. Obviously there is still a lot of work to do but already got the dimensions and steering that I'm happy with. -
[TC25] 8110 Mercedes Unimog U400

Had some issue with front axle after raising front suspension (because was too low) in Extreme Cruiser, and didn't have idea how to slove that, so I decided to make something more functional. This mini Unimog is 3x smaller than original one: So far it has HOG steering and pendular suspension on the front axle and mostly done cab. -
[TC25] 8464 B-Model
Saruzeufel posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
For my first contest I participate in I decided to recreate my absolute favorite christmas present ever, the B-model of the 8464 (also sold as 8439 or 8459). It is some weird machine that resembles a skidder crosssed with a log loader. It has more or less all the functions of the original: fake V6 engine with moving pistons (driven in the original set by the front wheels only), articulated streering with HOG in the beacon (had to get creative and add the yellow half bush to grab onto, because the rest turns freely on the axle), pneumatic claw with a gear mechanism (those hoses are a nightmare on this small scale, they refuse to bend...) and a function to raise and lower the arm with a linkage to create the weird angles (had to swap from pneumatics to gear driven, because there was neither space, nor did I have a second mini cylinder... and the force required to lower the arm is quite high due to the hoses not bending well, so the pneumatic version would have struggled anyway). I also tried my best to recreate the interesting design of the original (especially the front with many fancy shapes and angles). Any constructive criticism welcome, I really struggled with some parts of the design and feel like I could have done better but perfectionism and frustration are starting to kick in so I decided to stop here and get some feedback.
