  1. This is a creation originally built for the Monster Bash contest, but it couldn't be entered because it's on a 12x20 base (which must have been 16x16 to be entered). To stand out, I decided to locate my monster fighters and monsters party on a boat. It's supposed to be a steamboat, as Monster Fighters has a mildly steampunk theme. I never got around to getting a Monster Fighters set before, so I didn't have the minifigures that would be really helpful for the theme. So I went out to buy the 3 smallest Monster Fighters sets, to find out that they were on sale at the Lego Store , because the line is getting discontinued . The monster fighters have agreed with the monsters that they are no longer enemies. They go out on a steam boat one evening to have a party in the centre of a lake. The fireplace is normally used to boil water to run the steam engine, but the witch has found it useful for cooking. (Sorry. You can barely see the pot in the witch's hand.) Three monster fighters (Ann, Jack, & Rodney) and a swamp monster enjoy swimming in the lake in the evening. The swamp monster hunts fish for the group to eat (shown handing one over to Frank). The mummie jumps in to join them, which is probably not such a great idea for what he is. A ghost is chained to the roof to light the dark path when the boat is driven. The water wheel is stopped, so the zombie stands there to drink his wine. Fun fact: Unlike how they're typically portrayed in fiction, zombies are generally not more dangerous or aggressive than the people that they were before they died. However, the way that they are often shown in film resembles their actual behaviour when drunk. In case if your interested in seeing this again, you can see the page on MOCpages.
  2. Lots of building action for this Halloween. Take a ride on the PF motorized Ghost Train with Monster Wagon carrying monsters, ghosts, zombies, ghouls out trick or treating. You wouldn't want these guys getting out and roaming your neighborhood. Spooky in the dark. Ghosts don't seem too happy locked in the back. Contest Entries. Guess which is for which contest. Happy Halloween!
  3. All your ghoul busting (by the rules) can kick off here!

  11. Hey guys and girls! This is my first MOC in maaaaaany years, and in fact the first MOC I've created as a newly embarked AFOL. The setting as I imagine it is the two mad scientists hiding in their layer, creating diabolical plans and potions, when Rodney Rathbone, fearless leader of the Monster Fighters intervenes. A fight between him and Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde breaks out, and as the bad doctor's friend is about to help him defeat Rathbone, Mr McHammer "knocks" on the door, screaming "IT'S HAMMER TIME!" Chaos breaks out... Looks like the Monster Fighters have once again saved the day! (And will be able to take home that good ol' moonstone to Rathbone's home for safekeeping). As I was about to finish this little diorama I couldn't resist adding some Major Steele awesomeness on the "roof". So what do you think? Anything I should keep in mind during my new career as a AFOL? :) Have a nice day ppl! Ciao ~
  12. I can't find my black backdrop!!!
  13. Well I thought I would post the results of my efforts today, nothing special but my son decided to get the monster fighters ghost train set with some of his Christmas money, and after he finished building it this morning he instantly said to me "can we add power functions daddy?" So here is the result, the other side isn't complete yet as I didn't have enough parts, I also had to raise the front by one flat so that the flangeless driving wheel didn't derail the train on the exit from bends, can't find a better solution for that yet! Let me know what you think! Cheers, Dave
  14. I was looking to buy all sets from either The Hobbit series or Monster Fighters, but I've noticed on the Lego site that there are no bundles. Did they stop doing this or are there limited times only? Those of you who have bought all of a paticular series in the past - how much did you save on buying them all at once? Thanks!
