My OFFICIAL LEGO Mindstorms Neptunian Robot
Unbrickme posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Please let me know your honest opinions about my OFFICIAL robot Neptunian. I would love to hear some criticisms so that I can improve in the future. You can find it in the LEGO Mindstorms robot inventor app if you wanna learn more about it, but i will summarize its functions here. Basically it has two modes. In the first mode, it spins around randomly until it finds the target. then it will open its head and fire. In the second mode Neptunian enters the obstacle avoidance mode, where the robot avoids obstacles like walls normally. However, once it sees an unexpected obstacle, such as if you place your hand suddenly in front of the sensor, it will open its head and fire Here is my video of my robot Neptunian. It has even been featured by Sariel's Bricks & Pets in his review of the mindstorms set:-

Cr3amRoulette – a funny pie in your face game with LEGO Mindstorms EV3
andreasbaumgart posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi ! This is the introduction to my RobotRemix Cr3amRoulette (CR), which was created from the LEGO MINDSTORMS 31313 and Technic Airplane Jet 42066 sets. CR is pure fun and you will wish but one thing during this game: "Please, not me!" I had the idea when I saw a video of the game "PieFace" on YT. I thought: I have to do this with LEGO MINDSTORMS! The game’s goal is simple: belong with those who do not get cream catapulted into their faces. You start the game by cocking the catapult and pressing Enter on the EV3 Brick. The catapult is now locked. Then, you place a nice large portion of cream on the catapult. Then, CR generates a random number at which the catapult triggers. This number corresponds with a certain degree of engine rotation. The loudmouth starts. S/he pushes the touch button and rolls his/her number of moves between 1 and 6. Then, s/he has to place his face in the frame and turn the wheels slowly in his/her direction with both hands. 50 degrees correspond with a turn. The end of each 50 degree rotation is announced with a tone. For example, if the player rolls a 5, s/he has to turn the wheels by 50 degrees 5 times. CR counts the turns and compares this with its previously generated random number. When the number is reached, the catapult releases! If not, it’s the next player’s turn. S/he, too, rolls the number of his moves by pushing the touch button, places his/her head in the frame, and turns the wheels according to the moves. This goes on and on. But believe me: It’s someone’s turn eventually and the catapult will strike! CR is relatively easy to assemble. During the design phase, the biggest challenge was a construction that was stable and compact at the same time. The parts of the 42066 set are quite suitable for this purpose. You can download the LDD-File and the program from my website: www.andreasbaumgart.com- 5 replies

A scissor mechanism with LEGO Mindstorms EV3
andreasbaumgart posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hello, i want to show you a small idea for a scissor mechanism. Andreas -
In the Netherlands, in the last class of the secondary school, you have to write a study project (for the Dutch: "een profielwerkstuk"). My son (17) choose to build the soccer robot from the Eindhoven University. More information about the real robot can be found here: http://www.techunited.nl/en. For the study project, my son wanted to know if it would be possible to build a single robot with the same functionality as the real one, meaning: The robot should drive in any direction using omni wheels The robot can see the ball The robot can drive towards the ball The robot can grab the ball The robot can shoot the ball The robot 'knows' its location on the playing field The robot has been build by Lego Mindstorms, with a total of 4 EV3 bricks, 9 large motors for the movement of the robot, a Pixycam camera for the vision, 2 large motors for grabbing the ball and 2 medium motors for the shooting. A gyro sensor is used to make sure that the robot only makes one full turn (360 degrees) when it is searching for the ball. Apart from the Pixycam, everything is regular Lego. The result of his study project is shown on the picture below. The robot is able to drive, locate the ball (it should be in a range of 2,5 meters otherwise the camera won't see it), drive to the ball using a simple PID control algorithm, grabs the ball and shoot the ball (if you click on the picture below you will be teleported to my Flickr page containing more images of the robot): Last Saterday, during the open house of his school, my son was invited to demonstrate the result of his study project to the visitors. A small video of the robot during the demonstration can be viewed on my Youtube channel. Please let me know what you think of his study project. And if there is more interest, I can post some more details. Kind regards, Hans

Fully automated LEGO Mindstorms factory with laser cutting
andreasbaumgart posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Papercube is a fully automated Lego "factory" created by students and me Germany's Jade Hochschule. It is a scale model of an actual production line. The machine takes a piece of paper and runs it through a series of processes that manipulate it into a paper cube. The paper is then perforated by a laser to outline the shape the cube will eventually take. The laser is enclosed in a protective, orange casing to protect the eyes of anyone watching this process. Enjoy our video :-) Andreas- 10 replies

EV3 Cereal Dispenser with integrated weight scale
andreasbaumgart posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Last year i created a EV3 Cereal Dispenser (EV3CD). It is breakfast fun for the entire family. The EV3CD includes storage for the cereal, a filling device, and a scale. Each family member is identified by the EV3CD with a colored LEGO brick. Each family member’s serving size in grams is stored in the program. If a family member wants cereal, s/he logs in at the EV3CD and the portioning process begins: the cereal is filled into a small bowl and continuously weighed by the integrated scale. Once the stored weight is reached, the filling process stops. The scale includes a gyro sensor to calculate the weight. The scale’s range measures from 0 to 40 grams. Enjoy the video :-) Andreas- 1 reply
