Location: E01 - Donwarr. Tags: Civil, Spaceship, Spying. Previously on Andromeda's Gates: The mark, Uplink, Pay dirt. Departure, The Gyrocube, Darksight. Chapter 7: Jade Sun. Octan, Kawashita, MANTIS… In the year since they arrived in Andromeda, they’d swept across the Galaxy taking control of anything… everything, one way or another. They call themselves pioneers but to those that were already here, grafting the space-lanes, running the boxes, working the Galaxy, they’re nothing but poachers, using their influence to buy what they cannot earn and steal what they cannot buy. Yseult had never run freight for one of the big three, That was all taken from me before they arrived… And now I’m working for one of them… Doing their dirty work. Silently, Yseult had manoeuvred Darksight around to the far side of Donwarr, a world on the edge of the Galaxy in a contested region of space that some now called ‘The Quarrel’, a block of six worlds from Donwarr to Illustria that MANTIS and Octan had fought bitterly over. It was currently under MANTIS control but all of that Octan activity didn’t just go away; planets are big and the space around them is bigger. For Octan, this region was now about what you could do without MANTIS seeing or stopping. I guess that’s why I’m here she thought. At the appointed time, the recorded mission brief played. “Yseult.” The voice began. “This is Riddaeon. You have been selected for this mission by senior executives who are concerned about the loyalty of other operatives. A new form of refined liquid mythril has been manufactured on Freegate. It is transported to Mynderis via Donwarr on a super-freighter called Jade Sun but it arrives at Mynderis without the mithryl. Our sources believe that Octan is using planted operatives inside MANTIS to intercept the shipment but we have not been able to ascertain how. We believe Donwarr may be the location of the intercept as it will be easier for Octan to get it across the border through The Quarrel. Darksight was designed for silent pursuit and surveillance. Your mission is to observe the arrival of the freighter and covertly record its orbit of Donwarr before it re-enters the anomaly for the jump to Hunston. You are not to interfere with any transfers to or from the ship. Your data-file contains all of the information we have on the Jade Sun and its schedule… Good luck.” The recording ended and the data-file opened for Yseult to digest. Once she knew all she needed to, she began recording the activity of traffic between the anomaly and Donwarr. One hundred and thirty-eight minutes later, precisely on schedule, the MANTIS ore super-freighter Jade Sun emerged from the Donwarr anomaly. Thanks for reading. C&C welcome on both the build and the writing.

---Begin transmission--- This is Pilot Ace Head, reporting from Awsomnium station #29, H05-Livgorn. The mining operation seems to be going well. With multiple wells popping up all over the place. And when the awesomnium piles up, the need to get it back to Farmolis comes. And that's where I come in. The guys on top has entrusted me the OT-NVG Freighter to bring back the stuff. In order to save cost, Octan made the ship from existing consumer level tech and parts. Which honestly doesn't make the ship particularly fast. But with large tanks of precious awesomnium in the back I can forgive the lack of speed. Well breaks over. I need to get this back to Farmolis. And into a better ship. Ace out ---End transmission--- The moon is really bright here on Livgron. Hope the other guys have set up stations on open areas like they did here. Or I'm gonna have a hard time landing this thing. And here are some shots of the ship itself.

Sector: A04 Tags: Military, Vehicle, Spaceship, Land Vehicle Begin Log: I travel over the surface of Mynderis in the new M.A.N.T.I.S. Fly Class Flyer, searching for the "special package" I'm supposed to pick up. I've found it! Switching from Fly mode to Raven mode for landing. Secured the M.A.N.T.I.S. Tank. I'll drill around the perimeter until a driver reports in. Some back and front detailing. I've found a quiet lava spring to drill into. Group shot: End Log This was my first attempt at more detailed vehicles and landscapes. I'm very happy with how the tank's cockpit function turned out, how much detail I packed in, and how complicated a build it was. It's hard to see them, but I've even added a few car fenders/bumpers to the tank. Comments welcome!

Location - Jurin II - E02 Tags - Building, Vehicle, Spaceship, Land Vehicle, Exploration After dropping a ship off on F02, Hannibal volunteers to run a delivery to E02. This beautiful planet has become extremely important to Octan and trade throughout the system. While Octan has maintained a strong presence on the planet, it has come to house a contingent of M.A.N.T.I.S. and many traders looking to capitalize on the border region. In fact, it is looking to become the nexus of the entire galaxy, being the linking point between Kawshita, M.A.N.T.I.S., and Octan (or at least the most hospitable one). [O - E02] LP - 4 2 by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr Such a planet is a thing of beauty, where everything interconnects, civilizations may rise, and commerce can enlighten all. One difficulty in the development of this planet has been the vigorous growth of the local flora. The ocean, woven through the forests of the many islands, was early considered a ideal place for landing ships and cargo, as it is on Earth. However, every attempt at cutting runways or docks led to the forest "taking back" the land. Octan did have much success in the tree tops, building platforms well above ground. [O - E02] LP - 4 3 by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr This practice was so successful and prevalent that many visitors to the planet had not even seen the ground below. After unloading their cargo, Hannibal calls in his busy droid, Dora, that he had left behind to explore the planet. Together, they head for the secret sectors of Jurin only surveyed by his faithful droid. [O - E02] LP - 4 4 by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr To be continued... C&C greatly appreciated.

Location: D04 Terrial Minor Tags: Kawashita, Terrial Minor, Spaceship, Military Mr. S: Let’s see… Mitchell, Darin. Aka Blackhawk. We have a mission for you. Blackhawk: Yes, sir! Rootin’, tootin’, ready for shootin’! Mr. S: Yeah, well, the last time you shot something, you took out one of our planes! Blackhawk: What was that pilot’s name again? Oh, well, he isn’t pressing charges, so who cares? Mr. S: Hmm… Let’s see. I do, for one. And so does the board. We lose enough equipment due to MANTIS activity. We don’t need to lose more because of an over-eager pilot! Even Aera couldn’t defend your actions. She was sitting quietly in the corner pretending not to know you! Blackhawk: Am I being (gulp!) grounded? Mr. S: No, we can’t afford to do that. You’re a hell of a pilot. You handle anything that flies like no one I’ve ever seen. It’s just that you’re overly… enthusiastic. You need to rein that in a bit. Blackhawk: Umm… Yes, sir. What do you want me to do? Mr. S: We have intel that MANTIS is sending a supply convoy to Terrial Minor. We want to intercept them with a Kestrel in orbit before they make planetfall. Blackhawk: Yes, sir! On my way! Blackhawk, moving out!! Mr. S: Hey, at least up there, there isn’t anyone else for him to shoot down… After last week's un-inspired session, I did a little research. I've felt like I needed to up my game a bit, and I think I came up with some possibilities. This is the first attempt in my build style change. I think it's going in a good direction. Introducing the brand new Kawashita Aerospace Heavy Space Fighter: The SF-47 Tsurugi-G We at the Kawashita Group are proud to present the glorious fruit of a decade's R&D which has resulted in the most superfluous of "Heavy" class space fighters. Our pilots will have the honor of piloting a multi-role, highly versatile, and long-range combat platform within the next few weeks as the product is rolled out to factories throughout Kawashita space. We've done our best to mitigate the design doc leak, so if you've seen it please refrain from telling me as I am too low-level a functionary to not report it to my superiors. Observe the pleased expression of test pilot Hiroto Kasama-san who has spoken highly of the Tsurugi-G's defensive measures, manoeuvrability, and high-impact firepower. Very soon you will be able to see Kasama-san demoing the Tsurugi-G in aerospace combat trade shows throughout Sol and Andromeda. Watch especially for demonstrations of those "Bushi" dual Kinetic-cannons! Marvel at the Tsurugi-G's next-level armored underbody. Here at Kawashita, we take the safety of our pilots most seriously. Shame at the failure of a product of Kawashita Aerospace is shame shared by all, and therefore we have included advanced shielding coils prominently in the underbody of the ship wherein the pilot is most vulnerable. Note also the gracefully folding undercarriage! It cuts quite the imposing figure! And oh my! Those "Kirin" engines! With limited FTL capability, the Kirin ensures that the Tsurugi-G is the most mobile and long-range Heavy fighter ever developed by Kawashita. All this and bucket seats designed for maximum comfort by the couch potatoes ergonomics masters over at Octan! We are so pleased to have shared the SF-47 Tsurugi-G Heavy Fighter with you today! So pleased that we have included the above alternate profile photo for you to admire with us the sleek lines and ridiculously armored hull of this exemplary craft. Honor and Glory! Builder's Notes: -I totally stole the seat design from Bob's Crimson Pilgrim. Which remains my favorite Lego space ship. Period. -The Tsurugi-G is probably one of my top 3 favorite things I've made with Lego and one of the ones of which I am most proud. I've never attempted a MOC fighter of this calibre, using SNOT and other advanced (for me) techniques to get the shape and feel I wanted. I really enjoyed tinkering with it and it was a build wherein I tried a lot of stuff before settling. I'm pretty happy with it but the photos probably reveal a few details or mistakes that could have used more work. Oh well, can't do this forever or I'll miss my weekly and never mind the other categories of the Challenge! -Lots more pictures on my Flickr, of course. -Thanks for looking, bring on the C&C since I still have a few days to fix anything huge. That said, I went the full deal on these photos so I'd be loathe to take a bunch more. Oh well, if you see anything point it out and I'll get to it. Probably!

Looks like we have a situation… It seems that some bug-eyed aliens are heading this way with the intent of causing some trouble. Boy do I feel sorry for them! I imagine that they have no idea of what they’re up against. We Humans love a good scrap, and we can give as well as we take. This should be interesting. One of the egg-heads back at HQ (Dardanel, I think) figured out that the alien’s tech was susceptible to some kind of ionic radiation or something. His idea was that if this radiation could be focused into a beam delivery form, it could potentially knock out a good portion of their systems. So, Operative Q designed an ion disruptor cannon and slapped two of them onto a space frame designed in record time (isn’t there supposed to be a safety review or shakedown flight before they throw it in the air?). The result of all this was… the Gremlin. Actually, it doesn’t look too shabby. It has good thrust, and is reasonably maneuverable, but those disruptor guns look really cool! I’d love to try them against some MANTIS Bugs, but they told me that they don’t affect our tech, just the aliens (in theory, anyway). Oh well. Bugs or bug-eyed creeps, there’s still a connection. That’s good enough for me. So I’ve been tagged to fly this crate. Apparently, the aliens have dispatched what looks like a raiding force, and we’re gonna meet them. I’m supposed to hit the lead ship with the Gremlin, taking down their screens and making a mess of their electronics, while the rest of the gang hits it with everything they could get into the air. I was chosen because of my “insane, even suicidal, recklessness.” Commander Turtle said I was the ideal pilot for this job because I could disrupt the dead from their eternal sleep. I’m not really sure what he meant by that. I get the feeling that it wasn’t meant to be a compliment. Well, no matter. I’ll just go out there and fly, fight, and win. Like always! Looks like it’s time. Gotta go! More later, when I get back… ---End Recording--- This is the second attempt in my "new direction" build style. It's admittedly not a sleek as the Kestrel, but I'm pleased with the result. C&C's welcome and appreciated!

Another week, another weekly build for the Andromeda's Gates RPG. And this week, I`m back to trying to build a decent spaceship... using Brick Separators! *** Start Log *** Junali 23rd, AD 3825 Thesseus B. Von Geekington reporting The Pale Lady has informed us that High Command wants us to go and travel to sector E-11, an asteroid belt known as The Fascini Cluster. Scans have revealed this belt to be rich in Awesomnium ore, and we are going that way in order to set up excavations. Using our deep space mining vessel, the Separator, we are arriving at the first rocks at this moment, and preparing to set up the mining gear. *** End Log *** So yes, we all are starting to collect a lot of those orange brick separators by now, as they come in about every Lego set of 50 EUR and above. So why I was collecting the latest `heap` of them last week from the workspace, I started thinking about how to use them for something more practical, like, as the core of a spaceship ;-) Hope you like it!

Location: Sorn (B06) Tags: Kawashita, Airplane, Spaceship, Sorn, B06 Flying Dragon Aera’s Diary Junali 29, 3815 Sorn Second week on Sorn. Endless hours of sun dancing in the waves below. Days pass. Everything runs together. All I can see is blue and the constant flashes of light. I close my eyes and lie back in my bunk. I am still soaring over the water. Lips parched from the salt air I squeeze my bottle dry and throw it to the floor. We are stationed on some rock that’s not much different from the others I have flown over. There’s nothing here, but there is beauty in austerity. The sky meets the water someplace on an infinite horizon. Two lovers, arms outstretched, always just out of reach. The emptiness of this place fills your soul. I’ve felt a peace and tranquility here that I have rarely known. Between missions I lose myself in reports. My hands shake from the stims. Long hours spent on classified work and longer hours in the air searching for the enemy. I try to get some sleep. Feels like the first I have had in days. ::: Start transmission ::: Blackhawk: Aera? Aera do you copy? Aera: Blackhawk... Glad to have you here with us. You've been a great help! Blackhawk: It’s about time my luck has turned for the better. Ow! Aera: ??? Blackhawk: I hit my foot on the panel. Broke it when the torpedo fell on it during mission prep. Aera: ... Blackhawk: I’ve encountered a Mantis patrol and I’ve engaged them. I have things under control here, but I spotted their main convoy. I’m sending you the coordinates. Aera: Alright! I’ve got just the thing! Save some for me! Blackhawk: I don’t think that’s going to be a problem… ::: End transmission ::: My heart races as I run through the hall. This is what I'm here for. So many days of searching have come to an end. It's time to see what we are up against. I’ve given my team the Reppū fighters. We’ve brought the big guns to Sorn - the Hiryū! A heavy assault bomber, this thing means business and I aim to make good use of it! Kawashita KB-66 Hiryū (飛龍, "Flying Dragon”) Seen on the front lines of most Kawashita assault operations, the Flying Dragon is an anti-cruiser bomber that sees double duty as an air-to-ground platform planet side. Housing no less than 6 Kawashita KE-280 engines, the Flying Dragon earns it's title as one of the most powerful sub-cruiser class ships in Kawashita's service. Featuring 8 hardpoints, a large payload area, 2 double-barreled blasters, 2 disruptors, 2 nose-mounted cannons and 4 rear-facing gatlings there is little it cannot handle. Variable position wings give the Flying Dragon a mode each for bombing and strafing priority and it's heavy armor ensure it's survivability. Although improved in strafing mode, the turning radius is quite wide, giving rise to the running joke among Kawashita pilots: "Just point it in one direction and shoot. Nothing will remain in your way and won't need to turn!" The long-rumored KB-66C finally nears production and claims to improve maneuvarbility substantially, adding additional verniers on the wings as well as improving the engine timing software. Additionally, the KB-66C adds a second rear facing cockpit for a weapons master position. These improvements and others expect the Flying Dragon to continue it's place on the front lines of Kawashita service.

Raven return from Guinevere and get a call from Narbilu. I have an infiltration mission for you. What do you know of the Dust Demons? It's the pirates that's been raiding our mines and transports since we got to Andromeda. Interrogation with the prisoner that Makoto brought in earlier suggest they arrived with the same colony ships used by the companies. They are primarily targeting Kawashita and have followed our expansion with several temporary bases. Look like you are as good as your reputation, reading every rapport are you?. Only the important ones, sir. What's the mission? As you have read we know how the Demons come in. It's not likely to be via our colony ships but security have been increased. They then rapport to the nearest base and get there gear and mission. We have falsified an ID of a new recruit based on the prisoners ID and need someone to pose as a Dust Demon and get information. Koro don't have the looks to pull it of and was sent for another mission. You are our best resource for this kind of job. I'm on it, sir. I'll speak to the prisoner about background details and what to expect as a rookie. When do I start? As soon as possible, they are getting more of a problem every day. When you're ready, go to the base at Lesser Direstan. It's the only one we know of that's not blown up. Understod. And remember, you will have no backup and no communication so you can only contact us if you hijack there communication or get back here. Just like every other infiltration mission I've ever done. Raven get ready and goes to Lesser Direstan where she's ordered to immediately travel to Sorn. Without showing any surprise Raven thinks “Sorn!? All official channels have said we would stay out of there as of the treaty with Mantis. How can the Demons know we are going to Sorn?” Ok, newbies. Get in the Wasp. Training will begin when we get to Sorn. Why is it called a wasp, because it have stripes? No, it's because of the “sting” it gout in the back. What? I don't see a gun or anything. It's a drop ship. The “sting” is the soldiers coming out of it. With some work even you maggots could get good enough to jump out of it. For now, get in and shut up! Hi, I'm Trevor Sarah. Raven and Trevor shake hand. Little more is said on the trip to Sorn. Arrival at Sorn by EpsilonEta, on Flickr This time the stand in planet was made by Random-Acts-Stock on deviantart. The stars are the same by PSD Graphics. So you are the wimps that think they can be Dust Demons. Lets see if I can get you in shape before Kawashita get there hands on every piece of awesomnium on this planet.

*** Start Log *** Junali 4th, AD 3815 Thesseus B. Von Geekington, freighter captain of the Aian Sai reporting. Today, my trusty freighter of the `Liberty Rhino` class finally came out of drydock. Having signed up for the Kawashita Corporation, my first mission is to travel to the planet Greater Direstan, located at grid B08 on the NavSat system. My job there seems to be one of logistical support, doing what I do best. That being, hauling the minerals the corporation can dig up from the soils of this large dispository of a mineral called Awesomnium. So far, the journey has been tranquil, and I`ll be touching down any moment now. *** End Log *** Well, the build itself is a bit of a novelty for myself, as I never build spaceships in Microscale before. Quite a fun experience. I based the freighter Aian Sai (meaning `Iron Rhino` in Japanese) on a spaceship I spend a LOT of time with years ago... the Liberty Rhino Freighter from the Freelancer videogame. Hope you like it! (And I hope I did this right for posting)

A big thanks to Jason who took notice and contacted me for this to potentially become a product at their store. When redesigning it I had to make it stable and strong enough as well as making it aerodynamic, the original design was too blocky. I'm quite confident that is is the best outcome for a mini Milano spaceship design. I hope you enjoy it too. I really hope you enjoyed this MOC and plan to purchase one; feedback and criticism is much appreciated. Available to purchase at: TheBrickShowShop.com Adeel

Location: E09 Castral Tags: spaceship, base Ok, I arrived here on Castral, the dropship dropped me and promptly left. I don't feel abandoned at all. Forest is everywhere, but this spot is quite plain. Perfect. We are tracking you from the sat. Head nord-west to reach our outpost base. Fine, i'll walk there. It's not like the dropship could have left me a little nearer. It's just five kilometer, you'll reach it in no time. Roger. Sigh. Some time later Our sensors say you should be exacly near the base, can you see anything? Not an outpost base. There's nothing around here but this big fatty spaceship. It's it. Reach for the panel in the front, open it and enter the code you were given in the mission briefing. Sure. The one i should have memorized? Yes. Uhm. Tell me the code YOU know, so i can compare to the one I know and see if you're really my mission operator. How are you suddendly so security minded? Ah forget it. The code is Open Sesame. Ahah, ok, that checks. See? We're now sure there's no infiltrator involved! Actually the access code is AJE3-VDSS-234D. Your ineptitude will be reported. Sigh. Ok ok let me enter the code. A... J... E.. Uh.. I... forgot the rest. Some time later I did it! WOW! The spaceship actually unfolded to reveal an outpost, with supplies, communication antenna, laser defence and everything! Yes. It's an Octan Foldable Outpost Base. One of our latest product in the Conquer Worlds line. I love it! There's even a solarium on the top! Take stand in there and waits further instructions. Over. To be continued..

[K - A06] Arrival at the Behemoth Kaiju So, you guys know the drill. I plan on doing something smaller for this week's build. I fail. This week I failed especially hard, considering that the Kaiju space station is ~6000 pieces (of which the space station itself is ~2500). However, I had great fun doing it, and I'm especially happy that everything could be done using legal techniques and pieces (so, if someone wanted to build it IRL, just contact me!). About the build; the base plate is 48x55 studs, no idea how tall. The high quality rendering took around 10 hours using LDD to POV-Ray (I should probably switch to Bluerender soon... I think some images would even look better using it, for example I'm not super-happy about the fourth rendered picture). After the "story", I included a little discussion regarding the size of the station, including calculations and assumptions, if anyone is interested. Also, when I edited everything together, I kinda noticed that the some of the parts resembles certain German WW1 and WW2 symbols. This is purely unintentional, so if anyone feel offended, I'm terribly sorry. C&C always welcome! --//Recording of a private conversation. Date: 2106(38)15. Scramble code: oaffalHLAkj2nj4lmkaa.//-- Narbilu: Hey, Q, everything okay with you? Q: Yes sir, everything is awsome. The new mines on Guinevere pump out gold at a steady pace, and our military bases should be able to keep M.A.N.T.I.S. at bay. Narbilu: Okay, that's great... how about... the wasps? Q: What do you mean sir? Narbilu: Well, you know, those private recordings we have... they aren't really private. See what I'm saying? Q: ... Narbilu: And, you know, as our chief engineer, you don't have to be at the front line all the time. Q: I don't? Narbilu: No. Q: ...but what about my awsome looking guns that I carry around with me all the time? Narbilu: You don't have to carry around them either. Q: I don't? But I thought they were standard requisition. Narbilu: *Sigh*, okay, first of all, you are a Colonel, and between you and me, soon to become a Brigadier General, so you don't have to use standard requisition. Second of all, have you ever seen any of our troops carrying around weapons like that? I mean, seriously, where did you even get them? And, I mean, you're an engineer, why would you even need those? Q: ...because they look awsome? Narbilu: *Sigh*, you know what. One of our Behemoth class space stations, the Kaiju, has arrived at Guinevere. You were in charge of designing them, so hop on the next Akena, take a tour around it, and see what can be improved. Since most of our gear is either manufactured there or ships via it, you will still have full control of our operations at Guinevere. Does that sound okay? Q: Sure, can I bring my guns? Narbilu: What, why wou... yes, fine, whatever, yes, you can bring your guns. The next Akena leaves from forward base 37/4-Gamma in 2 hours. Make sure you catch it. --//Recording of a private conversation stop. Scramble code: oaffalHLAkj2nj4lmkaa.//-- --//Private Log Begin. Date: 2206(38)15. Scramble code: 123StopListeningToMyPrivateStuff.//-- Heh, I love playing dumb with Narbilu. He gets riled up so quickly. Of course I know they are listening to all my private recordings. I generally like being on the front lines. Keeps you alert and makes sure you really understand what your men need. Not Guinevere though. Crappy piece of dust with those d*mn wasps. Guinevere is the 'Gates' equivalent to that place from those ancient Terran stories... Bruges, I think they call it. Anyway, it's good to be back on the Kaiju. Last time I saw her, she was in the space docks above Orinshi being built. Oh how far you have come my beautiful gargantuan lady. The Behemoth class space stations are truly the masterpieces of the Kawashita Group. Currently, there are two active; the Kaiju, and the Atlas, which is en route to Traig IV as I record this, with a third one, the Shiva, being built in the Orinshi space docks. The Behemoth class space stations are 100% modular and consist of three main types of parts; Residential, docks/engineering and science facilities. The residential areas are the big "rings". They have an independent propulsion system in order to create artificial gravity and super high speed MAGLEV elevators for transportation to the core. The Kaiju has two types of residential areas. The larger ring is configured for non military personel, i.e. science, engineering, miners, settlers, etc. The smaller rings are configured for military personel due to their proximity to the dock/engineering bays. The docks/engineering bays come in three different sizes depending on the type of ship. The largest host Ad Alpha class ships, including carriers, settlement, mining and maintenence vessels (in the docks closest to the largest ring), in addition to docking solutions for Dreadnaughts such as the Akena class. The second biggest host Alpha class ships and the smallest host fighters and bombers. Since gravity is not as important in the docks, it is simulated using directed magnetic fields. The dedicated science facilities on the Kaiju are fairly limited. There is an observatorium at the top of the station and a... sensor array on the bottom for... picking up signals? However, there are a lot of makeshift laboratories in the largest residential ring. Perhaps this is something that can be improved upon? Apparently there were some major destruction in one of the sectors after two junior researchers injected some sort of yellow reptilian creature with Awsomnium without the knowledge of their superiors. According to them, they had heard that "M.A.N.T.I.S. are doing it everywhere and creating a new breed of super-strong biological weapons". Seriously, why would anyone come up with an idea like that? It's just stupid. --//Private Log End. Signature: Q. Scramble code: 123StopListeningToMyPrivateStuff.//-- Discussion: 1. Regarding the size of the space station; when I decided to introduce the Akena class Dreadnaught to the build, my idea was that they were around 1.5 kilometers long (i.e. roughly the size of an Imperial Star Destroyer). This would make the bigger ring have a diameter of around 4.5 kilometers and a circumference of around 15 kilometers (D*Pi), and the smaller ones around 3/10 kilometers. Now, based on the Akena being 10 studs long, 1 stud is 150 meters. The rings are around 2 studs thick, i.e. 300 m. This would mean that the area for the big ring is (2.25 km ^ 2 - (2.25 km - 0.3 km) ^ 2) * Pi = 3.96 km^2 (and 2.54 km^2 for the smaller ones). The rings are 3 and 2 studs high respectively, i.e. 0.45 and 0.3 km, which yields a volume of 1.78 and 0.76 km^3 respectively, resulting in a total volume of ~3.31 km^3 in the residential area. If we assume that we are pretty generous with the space, for being a space station, and that each inhabitant would have 80 m^3 each (40 m^2 * 2 m), including all other area required, this would result in the station being able to host 3.31 / (80 / 1000 000 000) = 41.375 million people. If we assume the extra space takes up about twice as much as we initially thought, we'd still be able to host around 20 million people on the space station. Pretty nice. 2. Why are there no visible guns? Well, first of all, the base hosts an enormous fleet, which could take over an entire world by itself, so it doesn't really need that many guns. Second of all, even the biggest guns we have seen so far in AG are around 30 meters long (in my Polar Base), which would only be a fifth of a stud, so guns aren't really visible on this scale. Third of all, what's up with that absurdly huge sensor array which kinda looks like a doomsday device and is only close to military facilities? Wait, why did I bring that up when we were talking about guns? Nevermind. More pictures/comments under the spoiler button!

Participants: Master Data, Agent G Begin Log: I'm supposed to pick up yet another food shipment from the labs on Hunston to deliver to our forces throughout the sector. I suspect that one of the opposing corporations is going to try and sabotage my mission, so I've brought Agent G to ensure I make it there in one piece. Scanning the island chains for Big Sal's lab. I'm supposed to pick up a shipment of some new type of larva for the cafeteria. Hold on, I'll run a scan of the surrounding islands. Computer, set us on course for Big Sal's lab. Computer: Of course sir... You are 12,000,000 space-specs off course. Preparing to recalculate. GAHHH! Computer, why couldn't you warn us earlier?! I don't want a repeat of last time! KABOOM! We've been hit! What? There aren't any other corporations on this planet yet! Computer: It appears that the Kawashitan malware you picked up on Guinevere activated a M.A.N.T.I.S. defense drone. Useless computer... Agent G, blast it! I can't - you didn't build any guns into the ship! Oh...well, I hope you can swim! Master Data, I hope you haven't left yet! The order just got cancelled! Something about causing stomach problems across the sector... So that's what it was...

The Akena is the flagship of a new series of dreadnought produced by the Kawashita Group for its naval fleet; created with the latest technology, these huge ships are armed with heavy missile batteries and laser cannons for point defense and protected by advanced energy shields, everything makes them a formidable opponents for any other battleship. In addition there are several embarked squadrons able to attack, escort or do reconnaissance in support of the mission. The Akena-class doesn't stop there, in a galaxy to be explored each vessel must be able to carry on colonization of new planets rich in resources and the Akena-class was created thinking about this too: they are able to carry troops, vehicles and prefabricated garrisons for the colonization of any planet, as well as have the right rooms for all of this, as secluded bays and laboratories. Ventral side So, here we are with my first LEGO ship! I'm really happy about the result so I hope you will like it! Enjoy!

Mission 04 Sorn It was a hectic week in the corporation. Orders changed around and I was limited in time and ability to make a proper plan for landing on Sorn. As I entered the atmosphere I had forgotten to adjust for the planet. In my haste, I still had a previous planets layout in the navigation computer and I wasn't prepared for the difference in gravity, altitude and the lack of actual land. A water planet. Me and water usually have issues. ****Mayday....Mayday.....This is flight BR549 in Sorn airspace, I lost thrusters and have had to ditch.******Mayday.....Mayday****** I crashed hard, not sure how I'll explain this to the bosses. The ship will be a total loss, parts of it are still visible, I hope they stay afloat because I am not sure if the rescue beacon is transmitting. ****I repeat....This is flight BR549 on Sorn, Col. Brik, I have crashed in area 6-4-4-3 and am in need of rescue***** Oh great....what the heck is that floating at me? Some kind of big eyed red shark thing, just what I need. Bad enough I destroyed my ship but now I need to deal with this? Well, if I can take it out, I'll have food. If it is edible. All I know is I better see a Red and Grey ship come soon. I'm also going to hate filling out the TPS reports and crash assessment forms.
