  1. I do understand how some love the older styles of 8860 /8880 etc they were and are the original ideals of Technic sets. Show the inner workings of the gears etc. The GT3 has all the gearing and inner workings but hidden behind a huge amount of panels The mack truck is a work of art from the outside and also inside, but all the gearing etc is mostly hidden, so I do understand. However, you still get to enjoy building the differentials, being impressed with the gearing and cogs, axels etc even though they do get hidden by panels and system bricks. I sorta like the half way model team, creator and technic sets we sometimes get nowadays, I understand not for all.
  2. I lost /sold older Lego Technic sets. In terms of money, they aren't worth as much as you think, second hand prices for used Technic sets has dropped, boxed and sealed sets obviously command high prices. However I have now been hunting down my older sets and replacing them, as they have a lot more value to me owned and in my collection then potential money. I regret selling /parting out or losing my older sets.
  3. That is the LDD file if you want an LXF file, post isn't 100% clear what you want.
  4. Gosh I'm incredibly slow at building technic models it seems. I've been building this for days, but then again I do tend to build for a few hours and put aside and go do something else, and I do have OCD and have to have the pins etc all facing the right way lol
  5. Thank you. Well due to the container looking longer it makes the trailer look better so I'm still going to look to make this. I'll just purchase the pdf files, as I'm not good at following ldd files. Thanks.. much appreciated
  6. http://www.custombricks.de/CUSTOM-Bauanleitungen/Technic-Mocs/42011-DE.html How good is this PDF file and does it provide break down of what I need compared to what I have with the set already? I really wan to make the trailer longer and this is perfect.

    Bricklink and shipping costs

shipping costs on bricklink international are outrageous nowadays, worse offenders are from the US to UK for me. Outrageous and I avoid from the US to UK at all costs now. I try and keep all bricklnk orders local. Not always possible but I do try

problem with stickers for me, is it then limits me to washing entire built sets in hot soapy water when I'm cleaning my collection. Set 8860 for example, a really old technic set from 1980 can just be dunked into hot water with soap, left for 30 - 60 mins, removed and then brushed with a toothbrush, hair dried and good to go, dust free sparkling clean, my latest UCS set a snow speeder, good luck dunking that in water and not seeing the stickers float off - that annoys me more. Pros and Cons.
  9. this reminds me of the first truck to robot technic set from 1986 I think? 8852 -just googled it, I had the set when I was a small boy, long since lost now.
  10. 42054 is a superb model, plenty of parts and fantastic wheels and looks excellent as a display model when complete, and has power functions for the crane and cab 42069 is another superb model, more parts, better suspension and has interesting tracks for wheels, but 42054 IMO is the better set. 42077 is one ugly looking car IMO, its a mid level set which is fine in its own right, but comparable to 42054 or 42069 - doesn't compare, and 42054 is about to retire so I'd 100% recommend this set

Buying a UCS set to see a sticker sheet bigger then A4 - for the price no set like that should contain so many stickers Putting a sticker on crooked - and struggling to even user the corner of the sticker sheet to lift it back up again to try and re position better Buying a used set as "complete" to find the seller has in fact replaced most of it with "compatible" bricks from China Sellers that actually sell boxed sets at massively inflated prices as the set is now retired Other then this, I'm pretty chilled with everything else with this amazing hobby.
  13. I love this MK stickers on Lego Technic, as my initials are MK - the Mack anthem has a number plate MR set number and MK and it looks like a personalised plate for my name - wicked Anyhow, as for the set, instant buy for me on this one. I love any large Technic set that has over 3000 parts. It looks to be an interesting set
  14. 42070 is an ok set, but its not complete, it has no suspension which I was surprised as the unimog did what 42070 needed very well indeed, and the back flatbed was totally missing It was well engineered in some places and not quite so in others. I got the set for £119 ?? Certainly wasn't £219 it was released at. I think the unimog, Acros Mercedes Benz and the Volvo frontloader are still some of the better price per part sets to be released in the last 8 years. The bucket wheel was also very good for the number of parts, I've used a spare 42055 for many projects as the part count was excellent.
  15. I said this, this years sets are way better then last years offerings if I'm honest - but still. This year is offering some great new sets and a some new parts from the looks. Can't wait to get my hands on some of the new sets this year. The mack truck is still out of stock where I am. : - (
  16. OMG the new sets this year from Lego Technic range are getting me very excited The Bugatti Rims look stunning, and the flagship set this year looks incredible. Why in earth was this line up not done for the 40th Anniversary? I'm getting very impressed by this years H1 - H2 and ultimate set line up.
  17. Well I am very excited for the 3600 piece Bugatti Chiron Its going to be the most expensive Technic set yet - but its got a huge number of components comparable to most flagship sets. BWE still being the most ? Just under 4000 parts. Feeling excited thats for sure.
  18. I'd go buy the H1 sets from Lego usually but I've got gift cards to use up, so no point buying from lego direct when I can save money at toys r us, I just can't wait to get these sets, as they look really good, so I'm eager : - )
  19. Wish UK toys r us would get their stock in, still got gift cards to spend, sadly no H1 techinc sets in stock at all I enquired at my local store, twice now, both times the staff have pretty much blanked me. Spend my gift cards and won't be using toys r us unless they are super cheap comparable to anywhere else.
  20. Love the work you've done on this. I just need to find a set for sale in the UK and then get to work on making mine look as good as what you did with yours.
  21. I asked at my Local Toys r Us - they don't even have the ones that are listed at Lego .com and the guy I spoke with said he isn't allowed in the warehouse to check what they have?? I just thought, wow, no wonder you are losing sales. Only reason I went to toys r us is because I have gift cards to use up.
  22. Looks fantastic - just needs a third wheel axel on the trailer to make it look just like a real European container trailer. I think the container box made longer looks much, much better IMO
  23. Arocs is really getting short in supply for UK buyers, most of the top stores are running low, so if he is to buy any - he should get this one now. Then Claas - then extreme adventure and yes +1 to Extreme Adventure, I was very surprised by how interesting a build it actually was. And some very clever engineering.
  24. If that is £ - I too got mine for £149 - which IMO made the model the price it should have been. Back on topic, I used set 42070 to highlight the prices on that site are overpriced even comparable to MSRP : - )
  25. Are you 100% sure the red clutches were not mis-aligned when you built the model? When you fit the switches to either side with the white component the red clutches all need to be center with the switches set to the middle - technically everything is dis-engaged. Allowing the model to be free roamed by pushing it, once you engage the clutches, the power functions take over and then you can control. Set 42070 is actually a really complex build, for its harsh reviews its got some clever - but also confusing engineering. Oh and yes test the motors, to ensure they all work.
