    [MOC] Daft Punk

My aim was to re-create the cover of Random Access Memories by Daft Punk. To that end, I built the front approximately two thirds of each helmet, as that was sufficient for me, and it also meant they could lie flat on the ground. Getting the two halves to line up correctly to match the original in terms of depth and perspective was tricky, so they are not joined together for the photos, so that I could experiment with small movements relative to each other. https://www.instagram.com/retro__chip/

    Free Build: Petraean Alley

Oh, that's brilliant with the mirror. Like a real movie-making solution to creating an illusion of depth. Love it.

As the crow flies, probably yes! Actually, maybe Liverpool...

PAB Cups: What Did You Get?

Wait, let me check...oh yes, we don't have any Lego stores in Ireland at all. So your glass should be half full (if not your PAB cup)! 😆

LEGO IDEAS 21326 - Winnie the Pooh

The two books, 'Winnie The Pooh' and 'The House at Pooh Corner' are two of the best written (and illustrated) stories that any person of any age will ever read. And Rabbit is much more important than Kanga and Roo, in the overall scheme of things. And Owl and Eeyore rank ahead of Kanga, Roo and Tigger in story importance too. Not that it really matters. It's like choosing between your children. All wonderful. 🙂

    [MOC] Mr Moon

Very cool. Looks like the design for some classic, stop motion children's television programme. The construction of the Moon itself just looks really nice.

    [MOC] Building Pink Floyd

Thanks all. 🙂 Most (or all) of the credit goes to the late graphic designer Storm Thorgerson for coming up with the majority of these iconic images in the first place.

    [MOC] Scenes

These are lovely! In the crime story one, is that a chalk outline on the ground, where the body was? Brilliant. And the bear at the end of the ski-slope is hilarious. Bears have to eat too I suppose...or maybe he just wants a go on the skis?

    Bonsaï - Diving board

Beautiful shapes and colours, like all your models. The pool and floor give me an Art Deco feel, somehow. Great work.

    [MOC] Album Covers

Thanks a mil. Taking the photos is somewhere between ok and a nightmare. Does anyone enjoy photographing Lego? I usually do it in the garden. But trying to get the shadows and so on to work is often harder than making the models!
  16. Many congratulations to the designer. I'm not sure how much fun this will be to build though, depending on how they do it. From having made mocs in this bas-relief style, I can say that they can be a bit tedious to build because you're not really achieving much as you go (like, ok I've finished a room now, or I've finished a spaceship wing). You're just piecing endless random coloured bricks together. You get a nice end result though. Will the final model have fewer studs showing? Or is that deliberate to look post-impressionistic?
  17. I don't know if my opinions are based on fact..but I'll give them anyway! I agree that it feels like Star Wars 'system' sets are getting smaller (probably with improved design standards) and more expensive for what you get. Whereas a few years ago there were lots of creative sets like Jabba's Palace and the 2015 Tyderium that people of all ages could enjoy, it's my belief that Lego have started to aim the 'system' sets very much at children (who are probably quite happy with them). For adults, Lego is a growing luxury market, and they have decided that if you like Lego you can jolly well pay for it, so they are pushing you towards the Cantina, Ninjago City Gardens, The Collosseum etc. It is a pity that there remains a gap in creativity in the Star Wars line though. Where is a new Bounty Hunter pursuit with Zam Wessell or some nice Endor sets or a Wampa, or Kamino...

  20. That's a nice idea. I'm not a huge fan of sports grounds just as buildings without competitors (although I did once run around on the grass in the empty Kensington Oval in Barbados just for fun), but a tennis stadium would be fun. Even better would be to include a few mini/micro figures of real players, but difficult to do without starting arguments! Maybe just Federer and Navratilova for Wimbledon, as holders of most titles...

[MOC] Can you guess the video game?

These are great! I don't play video games, so I would never have guessed them, but I love the 'vignettes' concept, the quiz idea, and the parts usage. I think my favourite is probably the very first one, 'Snipperclips'.

    Unpopular Opinions about LEGO

    - I agree with this! The Yoda Chronicles was much more charming than any of the Lego films. - Also, not an unpopular opinion, but a sad fact. We have no official Lego Store in Ireland. But maybe that's actually a good thing, because the one I did visit in Leicester Square was an over-heated, over-packed pressure cooker. Anyway, most non-essential retail is closed here most of the time because of Covid, so browsing in shops for Lego is off the agenda...

    MOC: Music Dioramas

Nice to see you're still going with these! I had been thinking of doing a Talk Talk - so it's fun to see how you've approached it. Good work. I only really knew their (epic) hits, so I've gone off to listen to Laughing Stock in its entirety...
