That's an interesting idea to use studded pieces as bodypanels. It might be not the best option for this process, since the car you have used as a model, is quite rounded from its corners, which is difficult to replicate without studless body panels. However it looks very, very good. Great job.

I would also love to see the functions.

I know that i have to do many exterior improvements, and those ugly studful panels:)

Also i need to optimize color palette: red line is because of red angled connectors- where begins door's window frames . I have only red connectors, thats why i have to make a red line across the body.

Of course i have made a stud-blueprint to follow real proportions. But Wheels are little bit oversized, also wheel arches oversized and suspension is lifted because of wheels size. I have to work on it.

Iam still waiting for details (coming next month) to make it more studless . For now I have some design and color improvements, and of course we visited some fishing places while winter and summer season.

This is a VERY nice 4x4 (and its a proper 4x4 and not one of those "pretend 4x4 that can't leave the black stuff" SUV things so its even better :)

Here in the States, the Prado 150 is sold as the Lexus GX460. The Toyota 4Runner and FJ Cruiser share the same platform as well. They are great vehicles.

Yeah, my wife's father drives 4runner 2000' shipped from US and new prado 150 from dealer. First uses for "dirty" driving, second for long distance trips:) but loves 4runner more than new prado. He Wanted to buy new 4runner from US but I adviced him new prado with garanty from dealer.... He likes 4runner's 5-th door that opens up (at prado to right side as usual door) and can be used in rainy wheather as umbrella:)))

We have lexus gx and prado at our market. It is shame that toyota do not sell 4runner at Russia

Great, still some studs left to replace The first picture looks amazingly close I hate making car bodies-I sketch/draw perfectly but it's so hard in lego I guess because I need more panels. Do you secure the body to the chassis in a lot of places, or can you remove large sections just by removing a couple of pins?

No, I cant remove body from chassis but drivetrain section (incl gerabox and transfercase) is easy detachable.

I think, I have to remove that grey studful plate from grille

Weight of moc is about 2500 g. What do you think about motorizing it:

1) 2xl or 2 L motors ?

2) 1 motor per axle (close to the axle as its possible) or place 2 coupled motors at the middle of the frame under the seats with differential between axles (i'm afraid that U-joint will break cause of big weight) ?

Iam understand that it will newer crawl like Effe's G, but wanna try.

@ rm8: In this TechnicBRICKS TechReview of the 9398 4x4 Crawler set, Conchas stated its weight as 1.42 kg with motors but without batteries. Your MOC weighs 2.50 kg without motors and without batteries (1.08 kg more). That's a lot of extra weight, and you can see situations where the 9398's two Power Functions (PF) L-motors don't have enough torque to climb over certain obstacles. So, recommend that you use two PF XL motors in your MOC. From TLG's official "Element Specs" webpage, each PF XL motor weighs 71 g. and each PF L-Motor weighs 44 g.

Body is fully studless

Dimension:

67х31х29 cm

52,5х25x23,5 studs

Mass: 2480 g.

1) V6 engine connected to wheels through gearbox and transferbox

2) 5+R speed manual gearbox

3) Full time 4WD or RWD transmission modes. Mode can be selected from cockpit

4) Central and rear axle differential can be locked separately from cockpit

5) Working steering wheel

6) Front suspension independent, double wishbone

7) Rear suspension solid live, 4-Link lateral

8) Transformable 5-seater saloon

9) Openable doors, bonnet, backdoor and backdoor's glass

There are many other improvements of exterior and interior after first studded version. Mechanics is the same.

There are many other things to improve, but i wanna stop.

As for motorization: i understand one thing- for driving I have to mount unimogs portal hubs at each wheel. This is the only way to save all gears and joints from destructive torque on such heavy model. I can mount portal hubs atfront suspension with existing Double wishbones But... It is sad, but I cant fit wheel with hub at existing front arches. Wheel is to far from pivot point. Lifting independent suspension is impossible. Thats why offroaders like Land cruiser 105 with its front live axle.

Next time i will make something with live axles to motorize it.
