TalonCard Posted August 28, 2011 Hey everyone, Mister Phes has been kind enough to host some more scans I've made of early LEGO Pirate material in my collection. This time we're taking you all the way back to 1989, the first year of the Pirates, with the Summer 1989 issue of Bricks 'N Pieces, the official magazine of the UK LEGO Club. It's pretty cheesy, but very fun. Don't miss: A short Pirate comic Hilarious brick-built Pirate accessories A giant size Forbidden Island Cool Pirate gear <div style="width: 400px; background:#F8E2BA; padding: 10px 2px; margin: 5px auto; border: 1px solid #D1B98F;">Check out the Magazine Scans</div> Stay tuned, because I'll be making more scans the next time I'm at home! Mister Phes Posted August 28, 2011 I added the magazine cover to the first post - it should help boost attention levels!
Admiral Croissant Posted August 29, 2011 Thanks for posting. These are very nice. I especially liked the life-size forbidden island and the HMS Victory model. [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]

joeygunns Posted August 30, 2011 those were the days. I still have the shell of my black seas baracuda! They don't make them like they used to.
The Blue Brick Posted August 30, 2011 This was great. I never got the lego magazine when I was little. I just remember when i got the Black Seas Barracuda on Christmas morning. I've never seen it, but that is one of the sets that I kept and still have today. Good memories.

"Hur hur!" :) Sadly, I checked that link and that ONE Pirates-themed issue - Summer 1989 - gives a "404 error", file not found. :( However, to fix it, use this URL and it works! Thanks! http://miniland.nl/LEGOclub/Bricks en pieces summer 1989.htm (note: the double space needed before "summer" was the error) Edited September 29, 2020 by Banjo
