Some of you guys already have bad feelings about this, and the 1st wave isn't out yet! So just calm down and wait till they come out, THEN you can start ranting. :sadnew:

Rockets away! :skull:

Don't you know that the interenet was only made for two reasons.

1. To female canine about things before we understand them.

2. Porn

Ah, that sucks. Hopefully when these come out to North America and the UK, someone will do the same thing as these kind people have done. :classic:

Also, it seems that the barcodes are actually quite easy to differentiate! That'll help people who don't have scanners/cell phones very greatly. :sweet:

Turns out they are the same for the UK.

I'm not really that concerned about the barcodes as I've heard that my favourite shop has plans on setting up a kind of market with theese figs where you can swap your doublets for other figs and maybe even buy the figs you haven't got. Which I think is a superb idea.

Neat! So I guess that TLG always uses different packaging for North American sets (the ones with set name, piece count, etc). I'm guessing that the NA ones are going to have some extra words or choking hazard warnings... Edited by ILikePi

Why so optimistic? It will be very unlikely that joe public will have access to the tidy cardboard display boxes. As I have said multiple times: Very few small pocketable items of potential worth are left out for the unwashed masses to pinch from shops. These are Lego, already a gold mine (how about the couple who swapped barcodes and used the self service checkout?) in small, highly sought after items one can easily palm and shove down a trouser leg or into a bag?

We know that none of the small local retailers that often sell trading things (cards, stickers, figures etc) like newsagents, will not be getting these. Only the supermarkets and toy stores (I imagine comic book shops might too) will have them. They are far more likely to store these under a counter, next to the register or behind the tobacco desk. My brother wants to buy World Cup stickers from Tesco? He has to go to the desk. If he were to buy them from the corner shop, he can pick up his own packet, but it is right infront of the till (cash register). I do not think there will be a chance to fiddle with, rummage, feel or scan/read a second barcode instore. Interaction with the bag will be limited to when it is handed over to you, just after you pay.

If I am wrong, lucky you, you get to look like a right wierdo fiddling about with a kiddies trading toy...

Lego probably has the second code to keep track of the individual units, to keep it from missing things. I assume they undergo a random sample for quality and quantity, so say a batch goes through and the random sample shows that 2 in 5 divers has no flippers, they will have to find that batch and those figures, to take them back (or you lot will whine about it and talk about betrayal by TLG) and the second barcodes will help with that. Besides that, they want no one figure to be rare, so how better to check quantities than barcodes for each type of figure? (or is it designed for a rare/ secret figure?).

Ah well, time will tell.

Great post Pepperment_M, as I agree fully with what you mentioned. Every major company has some sort of way to track their product, and this is how TLG is tracking these Minifigs. And as for retailers keeping these near the cash or behind the counter: Most places that have small items to pocket easily do this. Shoplifting rates are usually really high in toy shops and retailers (unfortunately), so I don't think they are going to take a chance.

I just can't wait to point and laugh when someone is either scanning a bar code or feeling what is inside the package......Boo-Hoo if you get the same one twice.

And as for the post that said there is other stuff to spend money on than a case........what's the difference of a case of minifigs to a large Technic set or modular buildings????

Same thing in my opinion. Plus with 3 complete sets in the case, I can sell one if I want to someone who needs a complete set.

It's Lego, and if it's your hobby you can always find cash to buy what you want. Most people I know in this hobby have all the other priorities you mentioned as well.

If one month I can't afford Lego, guess what? I don't buy it!

I work for tesco, and know that the toy plans aree to be updated in around 3-4 weeks, and before you ask the store only receives the plan the week before. Now tesco has two places that the minifigs could be fitted in (1) boys toys and (2) pocket money toys. Now these will vary in each store depending on size of store and available space. But I detract from the main subject, if they are becoming available (in tesco), I will post any news as soon as I hear.

By the way does any body know the uk 13 digit ean/barcode for the minifigs? Just makes life easier when searching the store database.

Toys-R-Us they're likely to be by the checkouts. I was in Edinburghs today & their stickers & grab packs are by the checkouts (along with chocolate).

This way the staff can keep an eye on them & little Johnny can make that last gasp plea to his mother for one last toy while queueing up to pay for other items.

It's the second, unnumbered barcode that varies between the 16 minifigs. Hey, 10 minifigs out of 16 is not bad at all, and I'm sure many people here will be happy to trade you zombies for all those extra cheerleaders you have! Where did you manage to find your minifigs, if you don't mind my asking?

Interesting! :sweet:

Can't wait till you share the info!

Can you check for us that the barcodes themselves are different, just to clarify? Thanks. :classic:

I see differences. Thanks for showing pictures so quickly!

To show more than one picture, follow instructions in the Tutorial section here:

Clicky

I recommend signing up for free on brickshelf.com, and before uploading the pictures resizing them (see tutorials) on a Photo Editor. :classic:

Hope I helped.

Here's a little more info about the collectible minifigs and the box it came in at our event in Billund.

Each eventee received two bags from the box.

In this box every single minifig was contained in an almost equal number, meaning that there were no bigger differences in the amount. Every minifig was included at least twice. Some were there three times, some four times (diver, ninja).

The 60 minifigs included is no big number so we can't tell if the minifigs in higher amount will be the same in every set, but I doubt that.

The barcode to the left side of the bag is indeed a sure sign what is inside. We made a photo of all the barcodes, but the link to another site as already been posted. Nevertheless I will post that photo later today.

The minifigs are of great quality! Luckily the chinese crap plastic issue seems to be solved.

It's not like the bad-quality plastic was a factor in regular sets to begin with (or like it had anything to do with what country produced the figs...)

And I've read elsewhere in this topic that the minifigs will all have the same frequency, so that pretty much verifies they won't all have the same distribution in the boxes (otherwise LEGO would have to be producing more of some figs than others). There'll be more of certain figs than others in each box, certainly, but it should still be pretty much random.

Picked up 10 today from Toys-R-Us!!! :cry_happy:

The packaging is quite rigid so feeling items is quite difficult but it is easy to source clowns thanks to the massive 'fro!!

I managed to get:

The indian

Cheerleader :cry_happy:

Caveman

Clown

Crash test dummy

Magician

Nurse

Astronaut

Diver

Cowboy

Providing you've got the time & the box is fairly full you'll manage to get a full set without getting duplicates.

Will be heading back tomorrow to get some more

all cool 2 Zombies ye-haw, I spend around £90 so I didn't get the full box, as some one had already had a few out, but the other touch I had was that I bought them in 3 batches so I got , 3 free Chrome stormtroopers, and the Lady Cashier said you like Lego then, I Said yeah and she dropped another trooper in my bag so 2 full sets of figures, Trades and 4 Chrome troopers, plus points on my gold card, so not to shabby ..

Here's the promised list of codes:

alle_minifigs_codes_klein.jpg

... we were just one day too late to publish it :cry_sad:, the german website beat us to it.

It is easy to find the right figures with it (the thickness and distance between the lines to the right is important) and we made a 100% success forecasting the fig.

This results in 32€ for 16 different figs.
