alexandertam Posted May 29, 2009 I'm planning to equip my army with bayonet, which do you think look best? I can't start a poll, so have to do this. The pictures are copy and edit from the post here by Dr.Steve (I hope you don't mind) Here are five ideas: A: Idea from Dr.Steve B: Similar idea but with modified blade C: Another modified blade D: Modified blade for plug-in bayonet E: castle sword for plug-in bayonet Other ideas are welcomed. martinsuper Posted May 29, 2009 Other ideas are welcomed. Comments and reply are most welcomed. I like using the pirate hook to make bayonets... I didnt come up with this, it was FatJoe, or BigJoe, or some name like that. With this technique, no need to buy u-clips, and no need to use non-LEGO parts. alex12 Posted May 29, 2009 I like option c the most. Option d might look less chunky with a little minifig though.
Dr. Steve Posted May 29, 2009 I Like "C" the best. Post some pics once you put them together
Captain Blackmoor Posted May 29, 2009 Yup, C for me as well. I like the smaller blade since a bayonet is more "needle" shaped instead of a sabre. I think option C fits the best with a minifig. Also Martin's idea is very clever, I use it too for my army, although I cannot find my pirate hooks...

It is a very good idea. But since I've spent the money on some u-clips, so I can't go back... I Like "C" the best.Post some pics once you put them together I promise I will post them as soon as possible, but it will be somewhere like July, because I am not at home till then. SlyOwl Posted May 29, 2009 Option C for me. I prefer the blade to be on top of the barrel for all the bayonets though, even if it isn't that realistic. I didnt come up with this, it was FatJoe, or BigJoe, or some name like that. Fat Tony
Ratshot Posted May 29, 2009 (edited) I voted for "C". It looks way better than the other options, even though "A" wasn't too bad. Edited May 29, 2009 by Broadside
Zorro Posted May 29, 2009 I voted foe "C". It looks way better than the other options, even though "A" wasn't too bad. I fully agree with that. Most realistic by far.

With this technique, no need to buy u-clips, and no need to use non-LEGO parts. I can't vote in this because I only use lego parts. The pirate hooks is a really good idea for bayonets. Captain Green Hair Posted May 30, 2009 I'd go with option A, all ''real'' pieces and no modding seems the nicest to me.
yoshy Posted May 30, 2009 Knives are another idea you could think about but I think those would be too short. Of the given choises I would go with "A", same reasons that Captain Green Hair pointed out.
HumanPackMule Posted May 30, 2009 I like the first choice best. that way you don't have to mutilate a perfectly good piece.
ED-209 Posted June 1, 2009 Knives are another idea you could think about but I think those would be too short. My first thought when I saw this thread was: knives. Your choice of blue-grey or chrome! I don't think that they'd be too short; after all bayonets were usually more of a dagger-length than sword-length, weren't they?

ED-209 Posted June 2, 2009 not for muskets No? I must admit that while I like Pirate Lego, it's not really an historical period I'm massively familiar with, but I thought that sword-length bayonets really only became common after the end of the Golden Age of Piracy? I've thought of that as well, but it will look too modern... That's a fair point, and I agree that the straight back of the blade does give it a bit of a modern look. Not that that stopped TLG from including it in the Mediaeval Market Village mind you!
