It sounds like X-Men ‘97 season 2 is pretty far along in production. There’s a good chance we see the second season within the next year, and hopefully sets to coincide with the release.

Wouldn't sets for Season 2 have to be in production right now then?

Any sets for this year and next are in some stage of production. So assuming we are getting sets for season 2, yes.

The best comparison to what we'll get in the X-Mansion is what we got with the Sanctum. Unlike the big figure counts with the Bugle or Tower, the Sanctum's 9 figure count only consisted of one repeat figure from the Doctor Strange MOM Gargantos set, and the rest all used new printing somewhere (18 new prints total). But the Wong and America Chavez used in the Gargantos set weren't repeated in the Sanctum, even though they easily could've been, but America remained exclusive, and we got a different Wong

You're on the nail that Wolverine is a given, so that's one repeat from the X-Jet. I reckon Cyclops will also be a repeat, but possibly with printed legs (at least I hope), as he is the current leader of the team. As the X-Men's main villain/frenemy my wildcard guess is Magneto in his classic suit, reusing the same head but no printed legs, only a new torso. Rogue could be the new America, and stay exclusive to the X-Jet. So currently 2 new prints

Jean Grey, Gambit and Jubilee are the top picks to round out the base team of the cartoon. Jean would need a new face and torso (leg printing isn't essential for her costume), Gambit and Jubs would both need new face, torso and legs (it would also be cool if either used the Scarlet Witch skirt cloth piece for their coats. Between the two I think Jubilee would suit it better though, and I'm fine with Gambits coat being leg printing. Also if Jubilee ends up with bright light orange over yellow, they can reuse the skirt cloth from Dreamzzz)

Sinister is also the likely option for the villain, and would take a new face and torso at least. And finally as everyone says, it makes sense for the Professor to appear here, so a new face and torso. This makes my total new print count 14, and figure count 8.

For the other 2 figures, I'm just as clueless as to who it might be as everyone else, but to throw names around, lab coat Beast needs 2 new prints, Morph needs 2 (if same legs as Cyclops), Bishop needs 3, Nightcrawler needs 2, Deadpool needs 3, Iceman needs 2 and Sunspot needs 2. Two of these picks would bring the new print total to between 16-18

Just remember this is all speculation, and just because the Sanctum had 8 new figures/18 new prints, it doesn't mean the X-Mansion will be the same, this is all just my own guesswork. If in 7 months time it turns out I got all of this right, feel free to ask me about lottery numbers

Storm and Beast would make the most sense for the final two figures. I can't see Lego keeping those two characters locked behind a CMF blind box that will be discontinued by the time the mansion comes out.

I don't think they will exclude Rogue either. Not if they plan on including every other member from the original team in this set. With the X-Jet and X-Mansion being released almost a year apart there wouldn't be much point in holding her back as an exclusive figure either, especially if the jet ends up retiring early next year.

Also, we've recently learned print "zones" add to the cost- I.e. a torso has two zones (front and back) whereas legs have up to six (I don't think they said, but I assume it's the round part, straight part, and toe of each leg... also the hips? Not sure.) Which explains why leg printing is so rare- it's not necessarily the same print cost as a torso, but up to 3x the cost.

That's not to say that lego can't afford to throw some leg printing on with how much they charge for these sets, but it does explain why when the designers are given a print budget, legs often are cut.

That's interesting. Didn't realize leg printing is so expensive which is why it seems to be neglected so often. Not just in the Marvel theme, but even in Harry Potter, it's often pointed out that the characters get generic legs and no printing, even if they're wearing jeans.

If Morph and Cyclops make it in the X-Mansion set, at least any printed legs used for one could be reused for the other. I'd be very annoyed if they give Morph plain blue legs like they did with Cyclops in the X-Jet.

X-Men 97 spoilers:

Spoiler

Storm is back in her original black costume. I wonder if we'll see this version show up in the X-Mansion instead of the white suit from the CMF series? Hopefully they can improve upon the 2014 figure by giving her the crown this time.

More show spoilers about potential minifigs in the X-Mansion

Spoiler

Nightcrawler was in the opening theme as an official X-Man. This might increase his chances of showing up in the mansion.

Also Professor X is back. Most people have taken it as a given that he'll be included in the X-Mansion anyway but now, this definitely increases his chances.

I'm wondering if we get Morph in the X-Mansion then what type of face he will get? A Blank face or a human one?

They should keep Beast and Storm exclusive to the CMF and do the normal Magneto outfit, have a display stand with Deadpool & Wolverine like in the Diagon Alley set with the secret box and include Jean,Gambit,Prof X,Jubilee and Nightcrawler and boom you have  a perfect selection of figures.

I haven’t seen the X-Mansion. I have no idea who is in it. But just based off people’s comments here, I’m fairly confident it’s gonna be called the most disappointing minifigure lineup of all time.

If they do that,

they will need to give her printed legs! Also, since her hair changed, the Scarlet Witch hairpiece reused in white with the crown printed on would work (though I can see LEGO just giving her the standard Marvel female hair).

I don't think it would work.

Spoiler

Storm's hair is very long and straight. Wanda's hair is wavier and shorter. Also Storm's tiara has a very specific design while Wanda has a more generic crown. I would hope they wouldn't reuse the generic Marvel female hair that they used the first time around for Storm's first minifigure, which coincidentally, is this exact same costume.

Depends on who's in it. 10 minifigures isn't a lot but if they can at least complete the original TAS team with Jean, Gambit, Jubilee and Xavier, possibly with either Classic Magneto or Mr. Sinister thrown in on top I would still consider that as a solid start for the X-Men.

Another deciding factor is going to be whether we get anything else in the January wave. Its only two months away from the X-Mansion's release so it won't be a long wait. If we see additional X-Men sets with more new characters then I'm willing to overlook the mansion's low minifigure count.

If I had to guess the minifigure line up for the X-Mansion based on stuff we've heard (there was also a post today on Instagram from BrickReporter that said we'd get Mystique):

1. Wolverine (reuse)

2. Cyclops (reuse)

3. Storm (reuse)

4. Beast (reuse)

5. Professor X

6. Magneto (either reuse from X-Jet or classic costume)

7. Mystique

8. Rogue (reuse)

9. Gambit

10. Jean Grey

I cannot see LEGO making a new specialised mould for the Mansion, though. 🫤

The post says that the 10 Minifigs are Wolverine, Cyclops, Mystique, Beast, Storm, Professor X, Magneto, “and more”. This leaves three open slots - Hopefully Jean, Gambit, and Jubilee.
Mystique is a weird pick, IMO; she appears in the prototype (along with Sabertooth and Emma Frost), but Sinister would be a better villain to include.

From what I understand Brick Reporter isn't actually a leaker. Just somebody that reposts news and rumors that originate from other accounts and passing it off as his own. I'd wait for a more credible source with a proven track record like BrickClicker or mtdbricks.

Oh ok. Yeah like @Classic_Spaceman said, Mystique would be a weird pick but I just saw Brick Reporter's Post on IG and thought it had merit. But I feel like we'll get the figure list soon in the summer.

I agree that Instead of Mystique, I think Jubilee would be a better pick for the mansion.

Lego is very big on representation and diversity. If they're willing to throw aside Hermione and Ron in the Diagon Alley set to instead give us generic diverse students nobody wanted, then I don't see them throwing away Jubilee since she provides Asian representation.

That could be in favor of Bishop and Sunspot as well. Similarly, Mystique could be considered LGBTQ representation. Although she hasn't appeared in the show yet, comic fans may have an inkling that we've seen her several times already, just not in her true form. I don't think she'll be in the set but based on the suspicion that she's playing a major part in the show, I don't think it's entirely impossible for her to be included either even if this particular report has no merit.

I don't see us getting that look in the Mansion anyway. Maybe in potential S2 sets where hopefully a new mold won't be an issue.

This is just the survey leak list with Emma Frost and Sabertooth dropped. Not saying this isn’t the lineup, but it seems like they just looked at that image and didn’t know who those last two were.

If the price $299 for the X-mansion is correct, then we should get at least 13-15 minifigures. The set is gonna be something between The Daily Bugle and the mansion of Doctor Strange.

The current rumour is 10, so there’s no reason to expect more, unless you want to be disappointed
