Ross Fisher Posted October 5, 2022 (edited) Game two: Cuba Libre vs Weelond Regimentals With both teams taking an offensive approach to their game, the crowd anticipated drama, but I don't think anyone was ready for this. In the opening minute Cuba Libre scored two goals, and the Weelond Regimentals scored three! And things did not let up. By the end of the half, both sides had scored a bonkers 12 goals each! At some point during the halftime talks, both teams must've realised they should let their goalkeepers stay in goal instead of playing midfield. As such, the second half was comparatively sedate. Or maybe it was the snake that snuck onto the pitch that slowed play. Cuba Libre only managed a further four goals. But, in the end, it was the Eslandolans who claimed the win with eight more goals sealing the deal. At full time the score was 16:20 to the team in green; we can only hope that , with that, sanity returns to Nola Mar. NOD Posted October 5, 2022 (edited) Just guarding the goal is no fun, yes the goalkeeper wants to play too. That was a fun football game. The viewers have fun watching and don't fall asleep. That's a lot better than a boring 0-1 after 90 minutes! Edited October 5, 2022 by NOD
Capt Wolf Posted October 5, 2022 Woo-hoo! Weelond advances! But 20-16? Yikes! Perhaps playing an offensive style doesn't mean what I thought it means. I figured maybe a player shifts from midfield to forward, or a generally aggressive approach. Patch Verlander will remind his defensemen that they are still expected to play some defense, as Cuju can only do so much in goal.
Darnok Posted October 5, 2022 20:16? So apparently the other football is played here.

Honestly it's like an amateur league football score line. Kinda ridiculous, but somehow it seemed suitable for Lego, so I left it.
Yperio_Bricks Posted October 5, 2022 Canons and Foorball? This just came to my mind: The top scorer of german Bundesliga gets a trophy in form of miniature artillery piece, called Torjägerkanone (top scorer cannon). I imagine something similar would be fitting in this tournament as well haha
Ross Fisher Posted October 6, 2022 (edited) Game three: Terraversa Rebels vs Horatio's Hookers Hundreds of supporters came our to support the Terraversa team, who were all smiles and waving to the crowd. This became a problem, however, when their goalkeeper was too busy to stop the Corringtonians from slipping a ball into their net. And all the chanting and cheering in the world couldn't stop a second ball from ending up in the same place. The teams retreated to their dugouts at halftime, with a 2:0 scoreline to the Hookers. The second half started a bit more promisingly for the locals, who scored one of their own. Unfortunately for them, match officials quickly marked it offside. And while they were busy arguing about it with the referee, the Hookers lobbed another ball into the open goal. At full time, the score was 3:0 to the Corrington team, and the locals went home disappointed. Edited October 6, 2022 by Ross Fisher

Ross Fisher Posted October 7, 2022 (edited) Game four: Ocean's Elevens vs WTC Marines! Even before the game started, accusations against the WTC men were rife. But if anything, those rumours only served to spur them on. They ran rings around the little Sea Rats. By the half-time whistle, the Wayfarers were leading 2:0. But if anyone expected them to go easy on the Ocean's Eleven in the second half, they were sorely mistaken. The horse eaters body-blocked their way to three more goals and, by full time, the young Sea Rats were left crying over a 0:5 defeat. Captain Braunsfeld Posted October 7, 2022 On 10/4/2022 at 9:33 AM, Ross Fisher said: Game one: Young Boys Pontelli vs Quinnsville Cannonade The first game of the tournament kicked things off with a bang! From the start, the Young Boys dominated, gaining a two goal lead. The Quinnsville Cannonade managed to equalise, but by the end of the half, the Eslandolans were leading 4-2. The second half, however, favoured experience over youth. Evidently the Young Boys' little legs were tired after their early exertions. And with that, the artilllerymen were able to claw their way back to a 4-4 draw by full time. Extra time saw the Corringtonians committing all of their men to front line, hoping to break through the Pontelli defence. This however, proved to be a mistake, as it left mainly Eslandolans in their own half. First one, then two, then three balls slipped past their goalkeeper. By the time the whistle blew, the Young Boys had achieved a commanding 10-4 victory, and were through to the semi-final! A great success for the Young Boys. But they still have to be in bed by 7. Ross Fisher Posted October 10, 2022 (edited) Game five: Young Boys Pontelli vs Weelond Regimentals Not for the last time this tournament, two teams from the same nation were facing off. The Young Boys pulled an early lead on the Regimentals, sending a long ball just over the goalkeeper's head. The two teams traded goals for most of the half, but a fumble just before the whistle put the Pontelli team 4:2 ahead at half time. The Regimentals returned to the pitch fully prepared to put the little men in their place. They quickly began a punishing series of attacks, which resulted in four more goals. Unfortunately, a late tackle and a red card took them down to 10 men, and the Young Boys were able to score four more of their own. At full time the score was 8:6 to the Pontelli lads, and the first team was through to the final. Edited October 10, 2022 by Ross Fisher

Darnok Posted October 10, 2022 So this means that, while not both of them can make it to the finals, at least one WTC related team will make it into the finale. So let's see who is better at bribing prepared for the upcoming family feud.

Ross Fisher Posted October 11, 2022 (edited) Game six: Horatio's Hookers vs WTC Marines! With both teams sponsored and approved by the Warfarer Trade Company, some were hoping for a friendly match. This was not to be. The Hookers managed to get a few shots on goal, but each was blocked by the massive horse goalkeeper. Any further action was delayed by the reappearance of the snake, who is apparently called "Bob". By the time he had been ushered off the pitch, the half time whistle blew with no goals to show for it. In the second half, the Marines deployed their dynamite! Mud flew, blood flowed, and Horatio himself was stretchered off the pitch. Unfortunately, this didn't work out entirely in their favour, as two of their own players were injured in the confusion. The confused referee awarded the WTC a penalty, then changed his mind and awarded it to the Hookers instead. They managed to put the ball between the horse's legs, and won the game 1:0. Ross Fisher Posted October 13, 2022 Game seven: Weelond Regimentals vs WTC Marines! The third-place game kicked off with the Marines dominant. It seems that the Regimentals' coach, Patch Verlander had instructed his men to stay in the the opposing half. This proved to be a mistake, as the WTC team kept possession, and ensured the ball never reached their own half. With that, they netted a slew of goals, and returned to the dugout 8:0 ahead. In the second half, it seems that Verlander had quietly been hustled off into the stands, and Monkey had taken over. It had an immediate impact, with the Regimentals regaining control of play, and working their way back up the scoreboard. The WTC Marines were powerless to stop them, and soon the scoreline was 8:4. Unfortunately for the men in green, that's where the goals stopped. With both teams exhausted from their efforts, full time was called, and the Marines had earned third place.
