The Marquis: Origins - Chapter 2 – Early Days

The story so far:

Chapter 1 - The Interrogation
Chapter 2 - Early Days  (you are here)

800x656.jpg

Interrogator: Where does the Marquis come from?

Lady Bonny: As far as I know, at the beginning of his career, he was part of a … ehm …  team of ... ehm ... merchants.

800x616.jpg

Interrogator: Merchants? No noblemen?

Lady Bonny: No, just merchants. Probably linked to Eslandola. But that is unclear.

800x597.jpg

Lady Bonny: He was skilled and cheerful.

800x582.jpg

The other …ehm… merchants enjoyed having him around.

It was there when he learnt many of his skills.

800x755.jpg

They also trusted him with their … money. He became their quartermaster.

800x810.jpg

So, this was how he was working his way up the ranks.

One of those good old sets and I wanted to pay tribute to it by making a modernized version: :pir-sweet:

The minifig hand cannot actually hold one of those old gold coins. They must have used the Kragle ...:pir-cry_sad:

:pir_laugh2:Is the lady Anne Bonny the merchant? This is a lovely little island and well built boat.

Yes, I was thinking about Anne Bonny, the famous ... erm ... merchant. :pir-laugh:

Ho ho ho, it's a merchant's life for me!

Loving the story, loving the new interpretation of a classic set, this has all the good bits. :pir-grin:

Excellent, keep it coming!

A fine  ollection of bloodthirsty 'merchants' and a spirited reqork of a classic all in one. Good stuff!

Thanks, I always feared this chapter was too action-heavy :pir_laugh2:

Yes, I wanted to have the reference to some old set with pirates and a monkey. But not all of them were suitable - many had redcoats in them - and how would I fit redcoats into a story about a Marquis from Oleon?

These two are also fine:

And when you look closely you will find that these are exactly the same characters as in the set that I have modernized.

Thanks. That is going to be the only reference to old sets in the storyline. I think. :pir-grin:

The recreation of the old set is great--everything has grown up, especially the palm tree. :pir-grin:

Are the fish from the hole in the middle of the island freshwater fish? :pir-laugh:
