I like how Marcos completely dodged the question about Gringotts haha

What was asked about it and how did he respond?

I missed the stream and can't watch it.

Its not even worth it they dont say anything new or interesting, they are just promoting their lego art sets

To me it is always interesting to hear what Lego designers say and one might pick up interesting info even if they do not reveal new sets every time :shrug_oh_well:
Do anyone know where I can see it, the links do not that have been posted are not working any more :hmpf_bad:

This, to me, is the failing of livestreams as a format. We're in the age of on-demand television, so why do you need to be online at a certain time of day to see stuff on the internet? Just upload the video.

They said they will make them available to watch again hopefully by sometime tomorrow.

I get the live stream if they were actually going to reveal something for the first time.  But in this case they could have just pre-recorded & uploaded the video at a set time.  It's kind of ridiculous they felt the need to do essentially the same live stream twice for sets that aren't even brand new.

From what I can remember - the question was "Will there be a Gringotts Bank to connect to Diagon Alley?". His response was "Unfortunately, unlike Professor Trelawney, don't have a crystal ball to see what will come next" lol.

To paraphrase the question was if we would be getting a Gringott's Bank.  I don't recall the exact wording of the question but considering the huge grin on Marcos's face I think he really wanted to spill some information.

Trelawney only predicts future deaths that she will be the one to make come to pass

That sounds like a diplomatic way of saying "not this year"

I wish they had come up with something more interesting than gold figures to celebrate the anniversary. I don't have much use for gold variants of figures, especially not with the large printed letters on the back.

They are celebrating an anniversary nobody cares about by making figures most people don't want.

Using up limited  print and recolor budget.

I completely agree. At least with Star Wars or Ninjago LEGO actually had something to celebrate as they really reached 20 and 10 consecutive years of releasing products. LEGO Harry Potter on the other hand is celebrating it's 20th anniversary even though during a good chunk of that timespan the theme was pretty much dead.

As has been pointed out before, the anniversary minifigs should be regarded as a bonus. These sets would still have decent minifig counts even if you completely removed them and for most of the sets, other minifigs wouldn't even make much sense (especially the two smaller ones). And the budget has obviously been increased, if the sheer number of sets coming out this year is any indication

Even if we aren't getting Gringotts this year, that's pretty much a given set. I wish someone had asked in the livestream if we'll ever get a Knockturn Alley or more Diagon Alley stores like Madam Malkin's Robes or Eeylops Owl Emporium.

My belief is that Lego originally planned a four-year run for the new Harry Potter - two years per film, with Fantastic Beasts stuff when the films came out. However, the range has been unexpectedly popular, so rather than releasing their 'final wave' they've decided to restructure their plans to last a little longer. The anniversary is an excuse for them to fill in some gaps and re-release some sets while they get their ducks in a row for a revised plan of the theme. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a few Deathly Hallows sets next year along with some sets missed out earlier on in the run (Durmstrang ship, Divination class, Norbert, etc.) followed by a grand finale in 2023 covering the remaining Deathly Hallows sets.

What key characters have we not had in the 2018-present run? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the big ones are Tonks, Fenrir Greyback, Narcissus Malfoy, Bill Weasley and Percy Weasley. I reckon they're saving these last big characters - or at least some - for the final wave, so that there's excitement. The year we see Greyback and Narcissus will be the last year of Harry Potter.

Agreed. I really like them. :pir-love:

Knockturn Alley is pretty well a given if the theme runs on long enough. I reckon it's at the top of the 'second division' of sets that weren't in their original plans but have been drafted in post-haste after the theme's success. The other two I can't see, unless they're relatively cheap with good figures. Are they prominent enough in the films/exciting enough to kids to sell on their own merit?

I have to, unhappily, agree.

I love lego, but this is sort of dumb.

Love new stuff but by my reckoning it's been 17 years overall, 20 years is a bit rich.

I knew I'd get something wrong! What's even worse is I knew Greyback was in the original Burrow but didnt think to check if he was in the new one. In case you couldn't tell, I haven't got round to getting the Burrow yet!

The big omissions are Bill and Percy then. And actually that's a pretty good state of affairs for the theme, given the depth of minifigures we got in the original run.

I think at least Madame Pomfrey, Narcissa, Rita Skeeter and Kreacher are some big ones on peoples wish lists. And non emo Tonks.

True. Rita Skeeter, at least, is fairly insignificant to the films though.

I think its her general look and demeanour that really make her stand out as a primary character even given her minimal screen time. I know she is the first character that ever comes to my mind when I think of who is missing.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I would love a Rita minifigure even if I detest her as a character (in the same way I detest Umbridge, not that I think she was badly written or anything). It's just a very good sign that characters like Rita are the ones we're wanting, rather than people like Fred and George and Sprout.

You make a good point, I was certain the Harry Potter golden figures would be a mix of other anniversary figures with repeats of old minifigure designs from the original designs so seeing weird gold versions of figures that only came out 3 years old is a bit jarring.

That said, I also agree with this. There's some great minifigures or magical creatures included in all four of the sets we know about for the June wave so the golden minifigures are just an interesting bonus. The golden heads and hair pieces will at least be useful somewhere, gold minifigure elements are rare enough that I would be happy having a play around with them (messing around with purist custom minifigures is something I like to do every so often).

Also the BEST NEWS so far in like a month: a new wand colour! Am I the only one excited about this? Six wand colours were introduced in 2018 and we haven't got anything new since! In comparison the rod-piece wands of the original theme had loads of interesting choices like grey wands and stuff. Hopefully this will mean the designers mess around with the colours of wands a bit more even if its for statues or something, the wand pieces are so specialised I feel like we can only ever see them in the Harry Potter theme.

Definitely very exciting, very curious to see how useful they'll be for MOCs as I don't imagine I'll be using them as actual wands. That said I really hope we get a dark red wand soon.
